THE BUDDHA AND ANANDA (a short play by Sri Chinmoy) CAST: THE BUDDHA ANANDA, HIS DEAREST DISCIPLE A FEW INTIMATE DISCIPLES BUDDHA: Ananda, I am now an old man. I am eighty years old. Ananda, for fifty years I have been teaching and preaching. The time has come for me to depart from this world. I am weak. I am an invalid. My whole body is shattered, Ananda. This body can be of no more use here on earth. ANANDA (shedding tears): No, Master, no. You have to stay with us for quite a long time more. Your very presence is a great blessing to humanity. This Sangha is not yet well-established. This Sangha needs your physical presence. BUDDHA: Ananda, do you mean to say that the Sangha expects something new from me? Do you mean to say that I have not spoken in clear terms about this Dharma? I have not kept anything hidden from you people. Never have I shown any sign of reticence, nor any in...

Sri Chinmoy: 1931-2007
2007-10-12 17:42:00 My beloved Guru, Sri Chinmoy, passed away yesterday at 7am, at his home in New York. Sri Chinmoy has been my meditation teacher — the inner and outer inspiration of my life — over the last decade. On a human level I am naturally shocked and sad at his sudden earthly parting, but inwardly I will never in this life fathom the inner gifts of inspiration he has given me through his teaching. More than human sadness, which will pass in time, I feel gratitude, gratitude, gratitude for spending these years in the balm of his wisdom. That gratitude will never end. His teachings will always be with me, and I hope only to make my own life — my actions, creations and interactions — a tribute to them. Sri Chinmoy Dies aged 76
2007-10-12 11:16:00 Sri Chinmoy My spiritual teacher, Sri Chinmoy passed away yesterday, Thursday, 12th October, early in the morning. The cause of death was a heart attack. His passing was quite unexpected as he had been fully active to the last moments of his life. Just a couple of week ago, he visited Russia to take part in the opening of a hospital dedicated to his dear friend Raisa Gorbachev. Sri Chinmoy dedicated his life to serving others and working toward global peace and harmony. He offered a simple message that we could all work for a better future, through our own self-improvement. We are saddened at the abrupt loss, but, remain deeply enriched by the inspiration and example of Sri Chinmoy's life. It is also appropriate to remember, the philosophy of Sri Chinmoy regarding death. This is the very last poem published in his most recent poem / prayer book. ?My physical death Is not the end of my life - I am an eternal journey.? - Sri Chinmoy's final prayer-poem At a later stage, I shall t...
On the Sunlit Path With Sri Chinmoy
2007-08-21 10:35:00 I am currently in New York, sitting inside a new coffee shop, Panorama. The rain is pouring down and looks set for the next 24 hours. If possible, I think it is even wetter than our miserable English summer. But, the coffee is good. I am also enjoying a selection of Indian music posted at: Priyadarshan.org. - "On the Sunlit Path with Sri Chinmoy" You can listen to the Indian music selections here: audio blog "Songs and Sounds" I particularly like Sakali Tomare Ichha by the great Ramprasad. Ramprasad Sen was a great devotional poet of India, who lived in the 18th Century. The poems and songs of Ramprasad were a great favourite of Sri Ramakrishna, who helped to make Ramprasad well known. Six and 10 Ten Days at Sri Chinmoy Races
2007-05-10 14:13:00 In New York the runners have recently finished the 6 day and 10 day race. For us lesser mortals, it is basically a running race where you try to run as far as you can in 10 days. The winner of the 6 day race was a mild mannered Fin - Asprihanal Aalto. Asprihanal of Sri Chinmoy MT completed 505 miles in 6 days. That's an average of just under 90 miles per day. Including 92 miles on the last and final day. Mind boggling as it may be, to Asprihanal, 500 miles in a 6 day race is almost like a warm up for the mammoth, 3100 mile race. Asprihanal, has the second best all time record for this distance at, 43 days and 15 hours. Results of the 6 day race can be found here at: Sri Chinmoy Races Unique 6 day experiences by Mark Dorian at Multidays For those interested in Multidays Abichal produces a very good magazine Multidays at Multidayrunning.com

Soul Birds of Sri Chinmoy
2007-02-09 20:28:01 Soul Bird Sri Chinmoy has painted several million Soul Birds. This year he passed the 15 million mark. Often when signing his name he will also draw a "Soul-bird". He can draw them very quickly with a few strokes of the pen. He says Soul-birds symbolise both freedom and the aspirations of our soul.
Meditation - Sri Chinmoy Centre
2007-02-09 20:28:01 3 times a year in Oxford we offer free meditation classes to the general public. Usually we get about 20-40 people coming to learn how to meditate. In the first class I talk a little about meditation and give a few exercises for people to try. Meditation is a fairly simple exercise but it does require perseverance and patience.

Sri Chinmoy Lifting anniversary
2007-02-09 20:28:01 See video at Sri Chinmoy TV  Last weekend was Sri Chinmoy's 20th anniversary for weightlifting. Sri Chinmoy lifted some very heavy weights and honored some well known body builders and weighlifters. Always looking for new ways to lift Sri Chinmoy lifted some unusual objects. One of these lifts involved lifting a huge home grown 882 lb pumpkin with a standing calf raise machine. This huge vegetable, one of the largest ever recorded was grown by a Philadelphia farmer for competition rather than nourishment. More on Sri Chinmoy Weightlifting
