I had a feeling that I didn’t, but I haven’t even mentioned it, oh the horror of it all! If you haven’t heard of it, RocketDock puts a little Mac-like dock on your Windows desktop and enables you to extensively customize everything from visuals to icons, to size and hover behavior and so on. I actually had quite a problem naming this post, since it could easily have been “put folder contents on the desktop productively and stylishly” because I’m going to show you a way to use OS-X style stacks with RocketDock that makes navigating some folder’s files very easy. 2007-11-04 00:49:00 There is a new feature in the new Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard operating system called Stacks. Pretty simple idea. The Mac (for those of you who don’t own one) has something called the “dock”. It’s the same thing as the “task bar” in Windows. The big difference is you can drop your application icons on it and launch your application from there. That’s all great, however, after a while, your Dock becomes very crowded. So in Leopard, there is this new feature called “stacks” which allows you to “group” applications together and have them “pop up” in a kind of “Leaning Tower of Piza” kind of way. It’s pretty neat (very Mac like). However, there are many ways that Apple can (and in my opinion, should) improve on this functionality since Windows already has most of what I’m about suggest inside their “start” menu. 2007-10-22 08:48:00 Ok one of the cool new features from Leopard (OSX 10.5) is the Dock's new Stack ability. Basically it takes a bunch of applications or videos or other items and stacks them on top of one another. When you click the stack they slide out so you can choose one. It's one of the more impressive features but we never thought we would have come across someone actually taking the time to port the new feature to the iPhone. Yes someone actually made an upgrade to the iPhone's dock feature and has added the ability for stacks. As you can see from the video above it's quite a good little addon. The only thing is it's not really a 100% port. As right now the stack is an overlay placed in the lower right corner it's not actually part of the dock unfortunately that's sort of the reason after the applicaton opens its still visible even though the dock isn't. The other part that doesn't match up with Leopard is I have yet to see the "too many" icons slide out version. In...
