2008-05-05 19:42:00 Stanley Martin Lieber (Stan Lee) was born in 1922 in New York. He's the creative mind behind characters like The Fantastic Four, Spiderman, Hulk, Iron Man, Daredevil, X-Men, and more. When he finished his studies, Stan Lee began to work in Marvel. He was cousin of Martin Goodman's wife, the publisher of Marvel Comics. After a year of working there, he did his first work as a writer of comic stories. It was a short story starring by Captain America. But Stan Lee dreamed of creating his own characters, and being an important fiction author. That first work was signed with the name "Stan Lee", the name with which he's known worldwide.During the following years, Stan Lee was editor, artistic director, writer-director, and made up to 5 comic books per week.Stan Lee was a big fan of Errol Flynn movies, giving that touch of arrogant and brave hero to his own characters. Excelsior! Stan Lee Lines Up Disney Pics
2008-04-03 00:34:00 Excelsior! Stan Lee Lines Up Disney PicsTigress, Blaze and Nick RatchetSource: The Hollywood Reporter You have to admire Stan Lee. At age 85, when most men would be quietly drooling their way through life, pausing only to smell of wee and Werther?s Originals, Lee just keeps rolling on, churning out ideas, web comics, TV shows and enough enthusiasm to power a small car (if cars could run on enthusiasm, that is).Never mind that most of his ideas since his glorious link-up with the late, great Jack Kirby haven?t hit the heights of The Hulk, Spider-Man, Iron Man, the X-Men, Daredevil, The Fantastic Four and others, because frankly, little could. Nevertheless, Lee has kept plugging away. And today, it was announced that the first look deal that his company, POW! Entertainment, struck last year with Disney, has paid off with no fewer than three new projects being set up at the studio, all with attached talent. And the projects all sound like they cou...

Danny Fingeroth, DISGUISED AS CLARK KENT, SUPERMAN ON THE COUCH, author, co
2008-03-31 17:03:00 Return to Part 1!BOB ANDELMAN/Mr. MEDIA: I?ve lived in Florida now for 30 years. I think probably just about the same time you got to Marvel I was coming to Florida, and I?ve been hearing ever since that we need to lock down the state, we need to close the exits, not let anymore people in here to spoil what we?ve got. Good luck with that. You got a state surrounded by water. Good luck locking it up. Tell me a little bit about Superman on the Couch. And I?m gonna be perfectly honest. I think you already know this. I have not read the book, but I love the title, and I love what I?ve read about it. What was the driving force in that book?DANNY FINGEROTH: That was the idea of taking my experience as a comics professional. I?m trying to sort out a lot of different answers to that. There?ve been a lot of books, obviously, written about comics and comics history, but as far as I can tell, since Dr. Frederic Wertham, there has been no psychiatrist or even psychologist who has written a comp...

Danny Fingeroth, DISGUISED AS CLARK KENT, SUPERMAN ON THE COUCH, author, co
2008-03-31 17:01:00 Danny Fingeroth spends a whole lot of time thinking about superheroes. For several years, he did it as the editor of the Spider-Man group of titles at Marvel Comics. Today, he?s the editor of Write Now! magazine and author of two books that go behind the four-color glory of men in tights. Already the author of Superman on the Couch, Fingeroth?s latest examination of comics, Disguised as Clark Kent, explores why so many of the enduring characters of the golden and silver ages of comics can trace their heritage back to young American Jewish artists and writers such as Will Eisner, Jerry Siegel, Joe Shuster, Jack Kirby, and Stan Lee. His next book, Rough Guide to Graphic Novels, will be released by Penguin in 2008. Stan Lee & Marvel Comics Rivaling Disney
2008-03-16 05:39:00 Stan Lee and his Marvel Comics are proving a fair match for the giant Disney. Though Marvel can’t match the extreme wealth of Disney, it still is a formiable contender. Marvel is certainly gaining market share with its interesting and exciting superheroe line-up. We’ve always loved their comic books, and now with Marvel’s transition to and/or addition of films - we love them even more. Disney has to be feeling the heat from Marvel Comics movie success.Stan Lee, the head of Marvel and creator of many of its superheroes, is doing a fantastic 4(how you like them apples?) job developing his company’s endeaver into feature films, the movies are nothing short of mind-blogging. They all do the given superhero or superheroes justice, they present an exacting pictorial of the characters - not to mention the showing of the superheroe’s powers - with the movie’s amazing special effects. Stan Lee you continue to get it done. I for one give you a standing ovation - you certainly d...

Tribute to Stan Lee Show
2008-01-10 00:07:00 Under the Influence: A Tribute to Stan Lee was held at Gallery 1988 in LA yesterday and some of the art seriously rocked! VP had some great images from Greg 'Craola' Simkins, Ekundayo, Johnny "KMNDZ" Rodriguez, and Yoskay Yamamoto and the 1988 Gallery had more!. Wish I could have been there to meet the legend himself, Stan Lee. (For those of you who don't know him, just think of comics like Spiderman, X-Men, Hulk, Fantastic Four....he created all of them!)

Stan Lee to make Paris Hilton into a Cartoon
2007-08-20 18:55:00 The New York Post is reporting that Stan Lee, perhaps the most famous name in comic books, is close to a deal to create a Paris Hilton animated cartoon. Stan Lee, who brought you “Spider-Man,” who brought us “X Men,” who brought mankind “The Incredible Hulk,” who brought himself millions, who is now bringing “Superhero” to the Sci Fi Network 9 p.m. Thursdays, is poised to bring us Miss Paris Hilton Herself. “I have a first-look deal with Disney,” Stan told me. “That means I don’t know who’ll be behind this until I at least show them the finished product and see how they feel. But the plan is to make an animated cartoon show with her on TV. A hip comedy in the superhero comedy-adventure genre. Stan don’t ruin your legacy by trading in Spider-Man, the X-Men, etcetera for a Paris Hilton animated cartoon?
Joe Sinnott, "Spider-Man" "Fantastic Four" comic book artist: Mr. Media Int
2007-08-03 02:08:00 Joltin? Joe Sinnott. You have to be pretty damn good at what you do for someone to name you Joltin?. The name stuck to Joltin? Joe DiMaggio, of course, and is also part of the eternal legend of Joltin? Joe Sinnott.Unless you?re a comic book fan, you may not know Sinnott. But if you recognize the names of Stan ?The Man? Lee and Jack ?King? Kirby, Joltin? Joe will be forever connected to their accomplishments. Lee wrote the stories, Kirby drew them, and Sinnott inked them, starting with the fifth issue of the Fantastic Four in 1961 on through the first appearance of the Silver Surfer and beyond. He?s also contributed his talents to Thor, The Hulk, and Captain America, to name just a few.You can see Sinnott's work on three new Marvel Super Hero postage stamps - two Silver Surfers and a Thing -- that were released in late July by the United State Post Office.Sinnott is the subject of a new oral history called Brush Strokes With Greatness, compiled and written by Tim Lasiuta. Joe Sinnott, "Spider-Man" "Fantastic Four" comic book artist: Mr. Media Int
2007-08-03 02:01:00 (RETURN TO PART 1)ANDELMAN: Well, to use the Marvel term, it?s astonishing, really. You guys only met twice in all those years, and yet, your work is so closely tied from that era.SINNOTT: Never discussed the work. Never.ANDELMAN: I?m baffled. Really.SINNOTT: Of course, Jack and Stan used to write notes on the pages for each other. If Stan wanted something changed, or Jack didn?t like a certain way a story was being told or whatever, but when Jack sent the work to me, there was never, ever a note on the border saying Joe, would you do it this way or would you do it that way. And, of course, my son knows all the pages we did together. It astonishes me, Bob, sometimes also.ANDELMAN: Do you have any guys that you were particularly close to from that era, from Marvel?SINNOTT: No, no. Actually, it was pretty much the same as Kirby. They sent me the work, and they knew I was gonna do a complete, acceptable job when I returned it.ANDELMAN: And where were you living at the time?SINNOTT: I?v...

Marvel Comics' Head Stan Lee Says He Never Gave To Clinton
2007-07-03 18:29:00 In this article, we learn that Senator Hillary Clinton had taken almost a million in contributions for her Senate run iilegally, and then denied knowing the person -- Peter Paul -- who gave it. Then she said she knew him, but never talked about his donating anything. Then Senator Clinton's campaign said that Marvel Comics Head Stan Lee, who worked with Paul, gave $100,000. He denies this on video. All of this is a big black eye for Senator Clinton as she runs for President. It sits in vast contrast to the campaign of Senator Barack Obama, who's taken no lobbyist or P.A.C. money and has managed to gain record contributions from a large group of donors giving $127, not several million. read more | digg story
Hillary Clinton, Stan Lee, and Peter Paul = Campaign Finance Problems
2007-07-02 23:37:00 It's funny what you find out online. In the wake of the wonderful record $32 million in donations for Senator Barack Obama for President, we have CNN asking questions about what this means for Hillary Clinton. Well, one thing it means is a harder look at how she's raised her $27 million. Senator Obama doesn't take money from lobbyists or political action committees. By contrast, we have an Internet trail of past Clinton problems still unsolved, particularly one involving Senator Clinton's run for the New York Senate in 2000 and her involvement with one Peter Paul. Apparently, Hillary Clinton's campaign understated contributions from Mr. Paul totalling over $772,000. At first, the campaign claimed that they'd never heard of Peter Paul, then Senator Clinton claimed she'd met him , but never had conversations regarding his contribution to her Senate run. The video evidence shows otherwise, as does this webpage containing her deposition and letter of thanks to Mr. Paul fo...
