2008-05-16 04:00:00 Nunca le preste demasiada atención a este video a pesar de gustarme mucho Lenny Kravitz. La parsimonia del tema, el video espacial, demasiado lento y tranquilo para mi gusto y para un video clip.Siempre disfrutré más del Kravitz rocker, del nervioso negro de rastas largas de su etapa Mamma said. Pero luego vino Kubrick y su Eyes Wide Shut allá por el 99’ y todo cambió en mi cabeza.Fanatismo total, revisión de todas sus pelis -una y otra vez- parecido al tratamiento ludovico que sufrió el gran Alex De Large. Un camino de ida este Stanley.Y de ahà a la pleitesÃa por Lenny y su Believe un solo paso. Es que Lenny filma su propia Space Oddisey con este clip, en donde él mismo es el protagonista (un astronauta negro, vaya ego) y calca el 2001 kubrickiano reduciendo las tres horas originales en tres minutos. Y no lo hace mal. O por lo menos no ofende.El responsable es Mark Romanek, hoy en dÃa, una gloria de los videoclips. Pero el autor intelectual es el sr. plagio. Letra mela...

2008-03-18 23:23:00 Back in the 1950s, three science fiction writers accounted for the lion's share and more of my great reading - Isaac Asimov, Robert Heinlein, and Arthur C. Clarke. Asimov and Heinlein have, sadly, been long gone. Arthur C. Clarke died today at age 90.His Childhood's End, and its haunting, mystical story of aliens - the Overlords - coming to Earth, captured me when I was younger than ten. I still count it as among the best novels I've ever read.Clarke was not as prolific as Asimov or Heinlein, but that didn't matter. His connection to the cosmos had a probity, a clarity, and even a sweetness, all its own. 2007-06-18 22:21:00 Director: Stanley Kubrick Cast: Kirk Douglas, Ralph Meeker, Adolphie, George Macready, Wayne Morris, Richard Anderson Paths of Glory is a bleak and sombre war film from early in Kubrick’s career, and set during the First World War. Kirk Douglas stars as Colonel Dax, a french officer who is ordered to send his men on a costly and deadly mission to take Ant Hill at any cost. The mission fails, and the Generals in charge attempt to cover up their mistake with the execution of some of Dax’s innocent soldiers. Kubrick’s innovative tracking shots of the trenches create some of the films most memorable scenes, and Kubricks usual visual flair is present in the wonderful black and white photography. Kubrick’s future wife also appears briefly at the end of the film as a singer. One of the greatest anti-war films of all time, Paths of Glory is a must watch for fans of Kubrick and fans of war films alike. Bookmark to:
