So once we were tied up, we snuck off early in the morning to have a closer look at Lady liberty Early in the morning, she hadn't put on any make up and you can see the oxidation and the lines running down her face. Well she's been out there a long time so you can't really blame her for looking like that first thing in the morning.

The height of this giant statue is about 2 levels of a building.Qu Yuan (340BC--278BC) was a Chinese patriotic poet from the State of Chu during Zhan Guo (Warring States 403BC--221BC) period.Qu Yuan was a loyal minister of the State of Chu. Under the influence of his political rival, he was exiled twice by the king of Chu. He was desperate when his homeland was conquered by General Bai Qi of the State of Chin. He jumped into the Mi Luo river to protest against the corruption of his country. In order to keep fish away from Qu Yuan's body, villagers threw zong zi (dumplings) into river for fish to eat. Today (fifth day of the fifth month of the Chinese lunar calendar), Chinese all over the world celebrate Duan Wu (Dumpling) Festival to commemorate Qu Yuan.

2008-06-07 08:09:00 AHMEDABAD: Not happy with the placement of Mahatma Gandhi's statue at Madam Tussauds, a man from Gujarat after his first visit to the famous wax museum has written to Britain's Prime Minister Gordon Brown to shift it from that position. V K Saxena of National Council of Civic Liberties in his letter to Brown said the statue is not placed in the wing where the statues of other illustrious world leaders are exhibited. Gandhi's statue is placed at an isolated corner on the second floor near an ice cream parlour close to the dustbin, Saxena wrote in his letter. Thousands of visitors who use this parlour throw away waste into the bin which often spills out near the statue, he said. He requested Brown to take immediate action to see that this anomaly is rectified. Saxena has also sent copies of his letter to all national leaders including Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi and Leader of Opposition L K Advani.Source: economictimes

Like The Simpsons Movie couch and Silver Surfer statue last year, this is becoming the "talk of the town," at least when it comes to marketing material. Just try to understand the message it conveys, why did the monk do such a thing at the end? you have to think beyond the conventional thinking. There was this monk who had so much respect towards Lord Buddha. The monk was determined to attain enlightenment (realized the truth). He used to sit in front of a wooden Buddha statue in the temple and meditate. So many months passed, but he kept on meditating. He didn't reduce his effort for even a moment. Finally he attained enlightenment, it was the winter, and everything was so cold. So he chopped the statue in to pieces and made a fire.
