Five Questions Not Answered In ?Indiana Jones And The Kingdom Of The Crysta
2008-06-03 19:38:00 Given the time in development and the abundance of top-notch screenwriting talent, it is surprising that the screenplay of Indiana Jones And The Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull is a bit of a mess. The movie left me asking questions about how or why certain things happened. After 18 years and several screen writers, shouldn't all these questions be answered? Here's a look at the top five unanswered questions from the film.

Big Flack Attack
2008-05-28 13:16:00 David Gregory and MSNBC's "Morning Joe" crew gloating over this: Politico Wash Post Former Bush press flack and fellow Texan Scott McClellan's "story of how the presidency of George W. Bush veered terribly off course." "Scott McClellan Blames The Liberal Press Corps For Eating Up Bush's (His?) Drivel Too Easily" JossipTim Russert and Mike Barnicle blabbing McClellan's "how the [Iraq] war was a marketing campaign." Scott is pissed that Karl Rove lied, making him look like a buffoon before the laughing-behind-his-back WH press corps. So what else is new? The flack can be is the last to know...Bad news for John McCain...This is what the Iraq war is about. Money. Corruption. Military and intelligence contractors you've never heard of making millions in Iraq. After 19 Years, ?Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull? Phenom
2008-05-22 07:00:00 CHICAGO ? After such a long respite from the beloved film progression, I was initially just as skittish about seeing Harrison Ford back in the Indy saddle as I was watching Sylvester Stallone back in the ring in ?Rocky Balboa? in his 2006 comeback and then again in 2008 in his ?Rambo? return. Ultimately, though, I had faith in director Steven Spielberg not to royally torpedo the monolithically anticipated ?Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull,? which resurrects the Chicago-born, 65-year-old Harrison Ford as one of my favorite film characters of all time. Spielberg delivers. Thank the heavens. In grappling with Ford?s real-life age, David Koepp?s screenplay comically writes in subtle jabs to wrangle with the reality. Just like Stallone didn?t try to hide it in ?Rocky Balboa? and he instead decided to honestly portray it, so did Ford?s character grow older. Read Adam Fendelman?s full review of ?Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull? in our reviews section....

Interview: Chiwetel Ejiofor on American Samurai Journey ?Redbelt? From Mind
2008-05-14 01:04:00 CHICAGO ? Chiwetel Ejiofor (pronounced choo-ih-tell edge-o-for) has been a stalwart film actor ever since his dramatic debut in Steven Spielberg?s ?Amistad?. Since then, he has been a go-to character actor for directors as diverse as Spike Lee, Woody Allen and Stephen Frears. His latest film is ?Redbelt,? which is written and directed by the great Chicago playwright David Mamet. Ejiofor plays Mike Terry: a jujitsu master caught between his passion for the martial art discipline and the outside forces that want to exploit his talent for commercial means. New Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull Trailer - What Do Yo
2008-05-04 00:08:00 Many of you probably saw the new trailer for Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull in front of Iron Man, judging from Tony Stark?s boffo weekend numbers, and now it?s online. The coolest reveal here is that the plot?s plush Amazonian temple is said to be guarded by the undead, so on top of the rumored alien subplot, it appears Indy IV will be fencing off with that ambiguous X Files sequel for air conditioned supernatural kicks. We also gleam Shia LaBeouf?s Mutt Williams pulling a young biker Brando, Ford finally looking comfortable and in grizzled top form, an atomic-age countdown, and lots of nicely edited explosions and action. And as Peter and I have discussed, nobody has any idea how this blockbuster?s story will play and pan out, which is aces. With the exception of too much Boratian camp in Cate Blanchett?s accent, yes, I?d say this trailer kicks ass. Eighteen days and counting, that?s a welcome relief, as George Lucas?s constant meh?ing was sucking up my anticipa...

Final Indiana Jones & The Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull Trailer
2008-05-03 20:41:00 At the Iron Man screening(s) I attended the new (and presumably, final) trailer for Indiana Jones & The Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull was shown, and I have to admit that I'm finally getting excited about this film. I just really hope that Spielberg and Lucas manage to re-capture the spirit of the original. The trailer at least, seems to do so. Check out the brand new trailer below and see for yourself. I think it looks great and I can't express how happy I am at seeing Karen Allen back on the big screen playing the wonderful character of Marion Ravenwood from the original Raiders of the Lost Ark. One of my biggest disappointments with the series was when they came back with the sequel without her as the leading lady, and instead replacing her with the whiney character played by Kate Capshaw. That was pretty much unforgivable as far as I'm concerned and to this day Temple of Doom remains my least favorite of the original trilogy. But Indy 4? This one I'm finally looking f...

The Orphanage
2008-04-07 14:54:00 The Orphanage - From wikipedia.orgThe mother battling against the supernatural for her child has become something of a staple in modern horror cinema. 'Dark Water', 'Silent Hill', 'The Dark', 'The Others' and 'Ring' are all recent examples. 'The Orphanage', directed by J.A. Bayona, though 'presented' (produced) by Guillermo Del Toro (of 'Pan's Labyrinth' fame), is yet another entry in this mini-genre. In its tale of a woman who apparently loses her son to the ghostly children of an old orphanage and must endure the worst in an attempt to rescue him, its story might seem to be a little tired. But is it?Besides the aforementioned, the list of movie references here goes on and on. There's 'The Innocents' (adapted from Henry James' 'The Turn of the Screw') and Del Toro's own 'The Devil's Backbone' and 'Pan's Labyrinth'. Of recent films, it most closely resembles 'The Dark' with its seaside location and a lead who even resembles that earlier film's ...

Steven Spielberg 'there Will Be No Hook 2"
2008-02-28 00:27:00 Hundreds of people around the country were devastated today by the news from Holly Wood. There will be no sequel to the 1989 smash hit Hook. It has been nearly 20 years since the dream pairing of Robin William's and Dustin Hoffman in the epic Hook. "Hook changed how movies were made" Said Francis Ford Coppala, "you see before Hook many british actors had played jewish people, but never before did a Jewish actor play a british person. Perhaps the hardest hit by all this sadness is local Subway shop sandwich artist Robert Parker. Parker is currently in an on going law suit with Subway. Mr. Parker contends that dressing up like Dustin Hoffman from Hook is his sexual identity, his employers see it differently. Robert was hoping that the sequel would reveal intimate detail in the love life of Hook, finally proving that dressing as a 17th century pirate indeed is a gender.

China's Olympics. Darfur. Steven Spielberg. Take It Away, ImageThie
2008-02-18 10:50:00 I was going to do a post surveying the blogosphere on Steven Spielberg's decision to pull out of the Olympics. My post was going to highlight Mutant Palm's and Silicon Hutong's posts because I know the writers behind those two blogs really understand China and because I found their posts extremely interesting and thoughtful. But ImageThief has completely beaten me to it in his post, "Steven Spielberg pulls out of the Olympics - Updated." And since he has done a better job than I would have done, I am just going to say that if you are interested in seeing different perspectives on Spielberg's Darfur decision, you have to go here.

Steven Spielberg and Electronic Arts Reveal the Ultimate Wii Game
2008-02-08 08:56:00 - No, it's not E.T, nor any other SF game. It's a casual Wii titleBy Calin Ciabai, Games EditorFeb 8, Softpedia A lot of rumors could be heard in the past few weeks regarding a mega game that was going to come from Steven Spielberg. Some feared that we'll get another E.T. game, others were fantasying about the coolest sci-fi game in the world. Nobody was expecting a Wii title and that is exactly what Steven Spielberg and EA were planning. Boom Blox is its name and the game will be released in May 2008 as a Nintendo Wii exclusive.Although it is not very clear at the moment what genrewill Boom Blox be, a "full site coming soon" about the game makes us believe that it will be a strange combination between tetris games and monkey characters that look like square pieces of soap. And, honestly, it is not exactly the thing we were expecting from Spielberg.Anyway, the game promises to offer action-packed interactive activities that takes Wii play to a new level of creativity and fun with...
