Tiger Global Invests $6 Million In Online Jewellery Store CaratLane
2011-06-23 09:22:00 Continuing its investment in online shopping portals in India, Tiger Global has invested $6 million in CaratLane an online jewellery store according to the Economic Times. This news just comes a week after Tiger Global had invested $20 million in flipkart. CaratLane claims to be India’s largest online- jewellery store. It currently supplies to 50 cities in India and hopes to expand to 100 Indian cities by the end of this year using the $6 million funds. The company’s CEO Mithun Sacheti says that in addition to expansion the funds would be used to strengthen their back end and invest in marketing and brand building. Sacheti started off the company in 2008 along with Srinivasa Gopalan. The two founders bring experience from the IT and jewellery industry.
