Stormy Weather Pet Tips
2010-06-01 20:41:00 Dogs and cats need your love and protection to "weather" nasty storms. Below are a few simple tips to help assure your pet will stay safe and healthy during stormy conditions.Allow your outdoor pets to come indoors during harsh weather. Because outdoor dog houses usually are not lightning-safe, and dogs chained to trees or metal posts or metal fences can be victims of lightning strikes, bring your dog inside during thunderstorms. Bad weather conditions can be frightening and hazardous to your cat too, so bring them indoors as well. Make sure all your pets have plenty of food and water and a comfortable place to rest or hide while it storms outside. If they stay in the garage, be sure to keep automobile and household chemicals and fluids out of the reach of your pets. Be sure to clean up any automobile fluid spills, such as antifreeze. Dogs and cats can become very sick and even die from just one small lick of antifreeze or other car products.Cats often like to hide during storms. Be...

Stormy Daniels, nota pornostar, sfonderŕ in politica?
Stormy Daniels sfonderà in politica? Nei peggiori blockbusters la risposta. Che du...

Super stormy!
2009-01-23 10:49:00 This picture wasn't taken last night but it is a tornado and yes it is Malta. We do get Tornadoes here and although i haven't seen one i think i felt one last night! The wind started up at about 7 last night and it was insane! It had been raining the whole day and it was really cold but when the wind came it was just so much worse! We have really big windows and sliding doors looking out towards the ocean and its right by our lounge and tv area. The sliding doors were rattling so much i seriously thought they were going to come flying out and onto us! I kept jumping up and screaming and i was to scared to sit in the lounge! lol, i know it sounds silly but i really thought something was going to happen!I am so happy today isn't so windy because i need to go to the shops and it would be hell to walk in the rain and wind with an umbrella!Looks like this weekend will be a wet one....xx

Tempest in A Teapot...How Stormy Market Conditions in Michigan are Creating
2008-06-10 22:07:00 Summer weather roared in with blazing high temperatures and strong storms here in Grand Rapids, Michigan! It's been a little while since I've been able to look out my window at a clear blue sky and gently swaying trees. In some ways the recent rush of climatic activity is a metaphor for the real estate situation here in West Michigan. 2008 has been a year in which we have seen some stormy conditions. The year commenced with the down draft in the mortgage sector due to the sub-prime lending crisis. In fact, until just recently, most of West Michigan was considered a declining market which meant that New Home Buyers were being asked to bring additional money to the closing table to close loans. Money which many of them were hard pressed to find. Zero down programs evaporated into the cosmic ethers. Yet, not all the news was bad. In the midst of this tempest, affordability levels increased as the prices of homes plummeted sharply creating ...

"It was a dark and stormy night..." - SWF
2008-05-22 08:37:00 "It was a dark and stormy night..."Trees silhouetted by the purpleclouds, with lightning back-lightingSky Watch FridayI know, you've probably heard that title too many times already. It's one of the most under-rated and over-quoted verses in history. But I couldn't think of a better title for this picture, which was taken late one stormy night. The trees are back-lit by a flash of lightning, fading out as it reaches the top of the picture to reveal the dark storm clouds. You might also have noticed something familiar about these trees. Yep, you guessed it, this is the same easterly viewpoint seen in many other photos. Somehow, whenever there's an interesting sky around, it has to sit behind these trees. All I can really do is change the angle! This photo taken with the Fujifilm S9600 digital camera. Submit Photos to Shutterstock and make $$$! Other blogs: WOWebbs blogs

It Was Possibly A Dark and Stormy Night
2008-04-09 03:36:00 April the Ninth, Eighteen Fifty-Seven.It was a dark and stormy night.I know that is a terribly clichéd way to commence a tale, but it also happens to be fact in this instance. It was a dark and stormy night. There was darkness, there was a storm and it was the night-time; thus all three of the crucial elements of a dark and stormy night were indeed present. What else could I say in these circumstances? I suppose I could deploy rather more florid terms, and claim that the night was 'bereft of light' and that the 'wind howled like a dog with its knackers trapped in a door', but I fear that is rather too much. We are all busy people, and therefore our story-telling needs to be succinct and to the point, so we can move on through the tale quickly and resume our day-to-day business of rutting and stuffing our faces with processed meats.Bugger me! I have already wasted two perfectly good paragraphs on my opening line. This is getting none of us anywhere, you know. So: it was a dark and ...
Cameron Diaz models my stormy weather outfit (nearly)
2008-03-11 11:13:00 Don't know about you, but I'm dying to get into bright sunny Spring colours. Purples, blues - even yellow. Yep, honest, Mum. But this blasted weather. What's going on? It's the kind of storm force day even Ray Mears would stay indoors for! So, yet again, I'm in winter blacks, from head to foot. Great then to see Cameron Diaz sporting the same look last night, at LA's trendy Villa Lounge. And it wasn't even Goth night. I checked. Clearly, from her serene expression, Cam stayed on the soft drinks, it being a school night and all ;-). Not so great to see that faded-out black jeans look so hot. I just did that Dylon dye thing with my faded-out black jeans, and hey, they're not so faded-out anymore. Bums. My washing machine's a nice pale grey now though! Very Spring / Summer. I'm loving Cam's zebra clutch, though it does look a little like a soft toy comforter, tucked so tightly under her arm like that. The peep-toe shoots are fab too. I'd much rather it wasn't a gale out...

Survival Tips For A Stormy Stock Market
2008-03-04 17:35:00 When the market’s waters turn choppy and dark, unprepared investors who refuse to change course quickly find themselves capsized and underwater. These bear markets can be difficult for novice and professional investors alike, but there are things individual investors can do to mitigate risk and eke out returns nonetheless. In this article we’ll show you which companies to watch and which to avoid in a down market. We’ll then explore four tips to help investors find diversity and safety in rough seas. Stocks to Watch During trying times retail and institutional investors flock to companies that make or sell simple, easy to understand goods and services. They focus is on basic necessities known as consumer staples: food, clothing and personal hygiene products for example. During market downturns consumer staple companies have fared well historically. After all, people still need to eat, drink and care for themselves. So-called sinful stocks are also popular during a ...

It Was A Dark And Stormy Night
2008-01-25 18:52:00 By Savitri Simpson, Ananda Village Resident Or, “What Happened At Our House During the Big Storm.” The short version A huge oak tree fell on our dome-home at noon on Friday in the middle of a large windstorm. We were at home, but not hurt. We have quite a bit of damage to the dome, but we have received tons of help on every level and we will be able to keep living there while repairs are happening. We are very grateful to God and Gurus, but certainly would appreciate your prayers at this time. It was and is all quite an adventure, full of challenges and many special blessings. If you want to know more details, read on: The long version A big storm and high winds were expected here including power outages and all that sort of thing. But we are used to it out here in the country – it happens every winter – and we thought we were prepared. Tostones on a stormy day
2007-12-07 14:59:00 Freddie would like to thank you for tostones. We don't know how it is pronounced but knowing how it transforms plantain has been a revelation. We are particularly grateful for one comment left by someone known only as Carolina who told us about jibaritos. Carolina, wherever you are, in our home you have earned the title Queen of Plantain. Let us start with Tostones which are fried, flattened and then refried slices of green plantain. There is something a little gothic about the name - add a "mb"and you get tombstones. I went out in the morning to buy my plantain when it was still dark and it was stormy. My nearest market runs along the side of a red brick railway line, punctuated with huge arches that are full of stalls selling anything from goat meat to salt fish. Every few minutes the stalls rattle as a train passes overhead. The plantain were being piled up by the grocer, glowing bright green in the half-light. By the time I got home, it was lighter but there were was a squall b...

Stormy Night
2007-11-14 08:00:00 The above picture is from a story in the Dominion Post - which is a Wellington Newspaper, describing the lightning striking Wellington more than 10 times in less than an hour last night. We went out onto the decking last night to try and capture it on video but only managed a short snippet before the rain started and we had to retreat indoors, but the light over the ocean was stunning and the rumbling pretty impressive.Nostalgia crept in and I started to remember the days as a child when storms would take out the electricity and I would sit with my parents around an open fire and the only light were candles, I remember often going to the bathroom carrying a candle only for it to blow out and I would panic! Today's weather has certainly shown the storm last night with gusts reaching up to 130kmh. I looked out to the ocean today and saw a huge wave burst only to realise it was in fact the Interislander ferry struggling in the rough sea! I like a good storm, don't you?

Through The Stormy Clouds
2007-08-23 01:46:00 As I mentioned in my last post, I have been really busy working over the last couple of weeks. Part of my work included driving 2 hours on Sunday to deliver a package. Considering once I would get there it would take 10 minutes to drop off the package, I decidnger to take the whole family - we don't go on day trips very often. It ended up being a really nice trip, the girls were so well behaved in the back seat for 2 hours and I dropped off the package with no problems at all - I didn't even get lost! Earlier on Sunday we had visitors and we didn't get to leave for our trip until 2pm, so we arrived to drop off the package at about 4 pm. At 4pm on a Sunday afternoon there are no shops open or anything like that, so we decided to take the girls down to the forshore to have a look at the boats. The sun was setting and looked so pretty shimmering on the water, the breeze was getting colder and stronger by the minute, but I did manage to get out of the warm car and take some photos whic...
T-Bone Walker Plays the Blues Like No One Else: Stormy Monday Live
2007-08-20 07:01:00 I think one of my favorite byproducts from this new Internet era of music is the increased popularity of so many great blues artists due to great footage of them playing live. Blues is the roots of rock and roll and the blues greats had such a profound influence on the classic rock era that I don’t think we can really begin to understand artists/bands like Eric Clapton and Led Zeppelin (and countless others) without going back to listen to their influences. Plus, along with seeing where those bands came from, these players are really what blues is all about with some of the most emotional and soulful music ever written. “Stormy Monday” has been one of my favorite blues classics since I first heard it covered by the Allman Brothers Band… and then again later by Eric Clapton. Both of those are great versions, but I don’t think either really lives up to the original by T-Bone Walker… I was lucky enough to find a clip on Youtube of this legendary blues ...

Stormy Day In Russia!
2007-07-02 12:23:00 Hi,I was drinking my coffee again and thinking. I was thinking about my Dad. My Dad died when I was around 21 years old. I feel lucky that I had him that long. My wife's Dad died when she was 3 years old. So I feel very fortunate that my Dad was alive when I grew up.My Dad wanted to do something with his life. He wanted to join the Peace Corps. He wanted to start his own business. He wanted to see other countries. My Dad never talked much to me, but he would make statements. Like before he died, he said to me, : "I do not want to be on artificial life support, If I am ever hospitalized." That's is all he said no less no more. When my Dad died I remembered his words. They helped guide me on his last day on earth. The decisions I made at 21 years old, when he was dieing, was based on many of the statements that he said to me.Some of the statements that he said: He always wanted to have his own business. ( I did have my own business. Very successful! )My Dad wanted to travel the worl...

Last One To Ignore Stormy Weather
2007-06-04 22:07:00 I don?t know if anyone has noticed, but I?ve tried to stay away from critiquing idiot columnists lately because I thought there were more substantive things that needed to be said on a whole range of other issues. Still, though, it is impossible to escape some of the truly odious drivel generated by our corporate media.Yesterday?s Philadelphia Inquirer provided more of the same in this regard; Mark Bowden wrote about a cutting-edge issue impacting the lives of many rich white people, and that would be the faulty construction of leaky gas cans that makes it difficult form him to mow the grass on his Chester County, PA farm house property (here - would at least an illustration of the faulty can as opposed to an off-subject cartoon be too much to ask for here, Inky?).And of course we were also treated to Smerky lambasting Dubya (mildly, to be sure) and the presidential candidates for not talking about Osama bin Forgotten (there goes Smerky, taking on the powerful ?pro-bin Laden? lobby ...
Stormy Sunday
2007-05-28 12:31:00 Why stormy? There was no rain, no thunder or lightning. No delay of game. Here's why. The Boston Red Sox, after falling behind in the 6th inning, stormed back, took the lead and held it to sweep the Texas Rangers out of their own stadium. Mark Teixeira slammed a 3 run 6th inning home run off of Julian Tavarez, who before the 6th was pitching a one-hitter. 3 hits later and the score was 4-3 bad guys. And that's when the heroics began. Coco Crisp, in the 7th, made an impossible "oh my God how did he catch that" grap of a Catalanotto drive to the gap in right center. It saved the inning for a surprisingly effective Joel Piniero. He looked great, his breaking ball unhittable. And the Sox were about to make another patented 2007 comeback, as run scoring singles by JD Drew (2 hits!) and Mikey Lowell put the Sox up 5-4. A Pedroia homer run in the ninth proved decisive, as the Darkman allowed a run in that frame but still collected his 3rd save. SWEEP. And coupled with the Sox sweep was a...

Stormy Weather
2007-05-15 03:51:00 As I’m sitting here typing ominous storm clouds are rolling in from the west. The thing about storms of any kind is that the worst of them only lasts a few days, but the aftermath can last years (hurricane Katrina). The good news is that even the most devastating natural disaster can be recovered from. The recovery usually is much easier when people are properly prepared. This is how we should approach our lives and our business’. We know that the “storms” are going to come. Are we prepared for them? The best preparation I’ve found is having a relationship with Jesus Christ. When I am weak, He is strong! I encourage you to get into the Bible and read it every day. My relationship with God is the foundation for my life, and my business.Another thing that has helped me greatly to be ready for the “storms” is mentoring. Many of the things I have learned from those that have “been there, done that” have saved me a lot of trouble, and a lot of money. Now I am able to pass... |
