2011-03-06 18:16:00

Well, I’m here to start the push. Henderson vs. Emelianenko is a fight Strikeforce should seriously ...

StrikeForce Brawl post mortem
2010-04-19 00:12:00
Seriously, Mayhem, you thought these guys would be cool with you busting in on their guys? This is Nick and Nate Diaz in 1993, as kids. I'm told this photo captures their "happiest childhood moments."   You've seen and read about the brawl, now check out what those involved have had to say looking back. There have been apologies, justifications and non-sequitors.   Jake Shields say's brawl was "no big deal." StrikeForce middleweight champion Jake Shields was interrupted in his post-fight interview by former opponent Jason Miller and that's when the whole fiasco got going. Talking here with Ariel Helwani of MMAFighting, Shields says that Miller should not have gotten in his face, reveals that he has never before...

Andrei Arlovski Emerges Once Again with Strikeforce
2010-03-02 03:41:00
May 15th in St.Louis, MI, Andrei the 'Pitbull' Arlovski will re-surface on a Strikeforce event where he will begin a come back, first meeting Antonio Silva (12-2).  Arlovski (15-7-0) despite a rocky couple of years, has an enormous fan base on both sides of the pond.  Like many fighters, Arlovski following a long winning streak, ( 5 wins between Oct of 2008 and Dec of 2006) had a few devastating losses.Arlovski changed his focus about 3 years and took a stab at professional boxing.  This misdirected use of his energy, to many who have followed his career, was a gross mis-management of a super-athlete who was developing into a great MMA practitioner.  Arlovski's 16 month multi-fight contract with Strikeforce...

Strikeforce Does the Right Thing for Local Fighters Miller and Davis
2009-11-12 18:20:00
As most of you know, this past Saturday on CBS Strikeforce put on a great card offering over 11,000 fans at the Sears Center and the 5.46 millions at home, the chance to be part of a great MMA event that was not under the puppet strings of Dana White. To White's dismay, Strikeforce's M-1 Global's CBS broadcast out-rated ABC's regionalized prime-time college football with men 18-34 years old and essentially game the rest of college football and run for their money. Whether you are a hard core fan and watched the under card write ups online as they happened to see how several Midwestern fighters made out, fans at home and at the arena found out how DeRay Davis and...
Strikeforce Using Clever Marketing Tactics for Fedor Fight on Nov. 7 in Chi
2009-11-01 19:39:00
It is rumored that Fedor Emelianenko and Brett Rogers will both appear at the Chicago Bears game against the Cleveland Browns today.  Their presence will be a clever cross-promotional tactic to lure football fans to watch next Saturday's MMA event on CBS.  There has been a fair amount of advertising that has been executed to help compete against other Saturday night programming. To their benefit the UFC does not have a card scheduled for that night (their next is one on November 14th).  Strikeforce and M-1 Global needs a triumph to gain momentum to keep in the black and avoid the perils that  brought down Affliction and other MMA organizations.  ...

Frank Shamrock vs. Phil Baroni Strikeforce + Full Analysis
2008-05-01 09:21:00
One of my favorite fights from last year, Frank Shamrock vs. Phil "The New York Badass" Baroni (video)http://www.youtube.com/v-/e4QekTB6DCo&fmt=18Somethin-g I don't do very often for fight videos here on the blog- a round by round analysis of the fight:Round 1Baroni tried to end it quick, but Shamrock played it smart and avoided getting clipped hard, even showing a little flair with his head movement. Shamrock even nearly ended the fight there in the first with a punch that took Baroni's knees out from under him. Unfortunately for Shamrock, he decides to punch Baroni in the head, which get him stood up, with a point deducted.Baroni keeps at it, and takes Frank down, but takes some damage on the way. I have to say that sadly enough for Baroni, Shamrock actually out punched him from closed guard, which i find just hilarious. After getting the fight back on the feet, Baroni tries to single leg Shamrock, which just ends with Shamrock nearly taking the back and getting some good grou...

Frank Shamrock vs. Cung Le - Strikeforce 10by moltisanti87http://www.dailymot-ion.com/video/x4w9i0_frank-sham-rock-vs-cung-le-strikefor_sport-My comments:-I hope your arm gets better Frank.-Cung Le needs to train more actual MMA to hit harder. I love Sanshou and all, but the fact that Le couldn't knock out Shamrock with solid strikes worries me a little. At this point, most UFC middleweights could probably run right over both Le and Shamrock.-Le did a good job tightening up his kicks after Round 1-Shamrock needs to take this more seriously at his age. He can be Mr. Showboat anymore.-Regardless of his inability to knock out Shamrock, Le definitely impressed me.Watch it!-y

Strikeforce: Cung Le vs Frank Shamrock Betting Odds
2008-03-27 17:04:00
This is the most serious opponent Shamrock has seen in since Tito Ortiz in 1999. Strikeforce gave Shamrock a window for his big comeback to MMA in 2006 and he's been handed some pretty easy competition in his three fights back. His one loss in those three fights was due to an illegal knee, but up until that he looked pretty good...lol...not! Baroni was a test of his chin and patience but that's about it. Shamrock has great cardio so pace is not going to be his problem. His problem will be avoiding a mule kicking the shit out of him.Cung Le is new to MMA...kind of. Record wise he's 5-0 and two years into his new career, but previously he fought in San Shou and compiled a 17-0 record with 12 KO's. He also trained with Shamrock in the past and according to Josh ?The Punk? Thompson, Cung "used to throw Frank around like a rag doll, like his little sister." Top that all off with the most impressive arsenal of kicks in MMA and you've got Shamrock in serious danger. Here's how I see i...

Bodog Champ Betting On Himself To Win Strikeforce Tournament - 06 Nov 2007
2007-11-06 21:40:00
Bodog Fight Middleweight Champion, Trevor Prangley, has something to prove at the HP Pavilion in San Jose, California on Friday, November 16. The competition the confident South African is referring to is the four-man, single-elimination middleweight tournament that will headline Strikeforce: Four Men Enter, One Man Survives, presented by Bodog Fight. The winner of the first-ever sanctioned mixed martial arts tournament in the state of California will potentially be awarded the opportunity to challenge Strikeforce World Middleweight Champion, Frank Shamrock. That very well could be Prangley, who trains at the American Kickboxing Academy in San Jose and is sure to be buoyed by the pro-AKA crowd. "Of course, I hope they cheer for me, although I usually only hear the crowd when I walk out," s...

2007-10-31 23:23:00
By Collin Welsh Trevor Prangley (16-4) will enter Strikeforce's first ever middleweight tournament on a five fight win streak. In his quest to become the best middleweight in the world, the South African fighter will be competing for the crown against Yuki Sasaki, Falaniko Vitale, and Jorge Santiago. Pangley is considered by many to be the heavy favorite, but he does not agree with such a statement. "This is a good tournament, definitely not going to be a walk over...it's up for grabs," says the current Bodog Fight middleweight champ. Sasaki, Vitale, and Santiago are all coming off of submission wins and will be looking to keep their respective win streaks alive. Jorge Santiago was especially impressive in his last bout, earning himself a major win over Jeremy Horn. "My training has been going excellent, I've been training hard to take my cardio to a new level," says Prangley. "I feel that my cardio has been an issue in the past, and that is w...
