2008-01-27 07:38:00 Former Indonesian strongman Suharto, who shaped and ruled the country for 32 years through ruthless but quiet authoritarianism, died Sunday at age 86, a local police chief said. The police said Suharto, who had lapsed into a coma earlier Sunday, died at 1:10 p.m. Cause of death is still unclear, but Suharto had been suffering from suspected congestive heart disease and had been having trouble breathing on his own for weeks. Suharto had been undergoing treatment at Jakarta's Pertamina Central Hospital since Jan. 4. 2008-01-04 13:50:00 Former Indonesian president Suharto was hospitalized on Friday, with doctors saying his condition appeared to be weak. "We need to perform a complete general checkup, so he will remain overnight in the hospital," said Dr Mardjo Soebiandono, head of the team of doctors attending the former strongman.He said Suharto remained conscious but seemed to be weak.The Elshinta radio station said Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono had told doctors Friday to provide Suharto with the best treatment available. The 86-year-old former president checked in to a private hospital in South Jakarta on Friday afternoon. 2007-07-28 21:46:00 Jesse Marunde, a nationally ranked Strongman competitor and father of two, died July 25 in Sequim, WA.He was 27.Friends of the family said Marunde became dizzy following a workout and died shortly after.Cause of death is not known at press time.Clallam County prosecutor and coroner Deborah Kelly said an autopsy is planned but they may not know results for a month.A celebration of Marunde’s life is scheduled for 1 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 1, at Sequim Community Church, 1000 N. I've been trying to find out more but Jesse's own site is currently down (probably the server dealing with the numbers of fans trying to find out more about what happened).According to a few Internet sources there is speculation that he died whilst training in the gym. Unfortunately I cannot confirm any details but will let you know if and when I hear more.My best memory of Jesse wasn't even of him competing, but once after an event he threw his T shirt into the crowd and a fan put it on and threw his own T shirt to Jesse - Jesse put the fans T shirt on and made it look so tiny !'Strongman' has lost a legend in the making.
