I brought The Grumpy Owl with me since he sometimes concerns himself with fashionable things. The party was to celebrate the launch of the FASHION Magazine’s Men’s Fall Style Special supplement. It’s a magazine created by the Fashion Magazine team dedicated to men’s fashion. There were cigars and a small cigar lounge setup outside. The Grumpy Owl bought a nice cigar and enjoyed it on the patio. There were canapes and drinks at the party but we were also treated to a Hugo Boss Fall 2009 fashion show. Sohn No. 2 gab dann bei dieser Hitze auch gleich seine Bestellung auf: Vanilleeis, Joghurteis und Limetteneis sollten einen festen Platz in der Truhe haben. Das seien seine Lieblingssorten. Bislang habe ich immer Vanilleeis französischer Machart hergestellt - mit einer Basis aus Eiern, die über einem Wasserbad aufgeschlagen werden. Das verleiht dem Eis seine glatte und seidige Struktur. Die amerikanische Variante kommt ohne Eier aus. Philadelphia-style Eiskrems werden einfach zusammengerührt und/oder püriert und sind im Vergleich zur französischen Variante fester, gefrieren fester, dafür aber leichter festzustellen. Das habe ich heute ausprobiert, aber ebenfalls Guarkernmehl zugefügt. Das Vanilleeis Philadelphia-Style schmeckt - wie hier mit Karamell...
