GSM Adds 9.47 Mil Subscribers While Total Subscriber Base Touches 325.7 Mil
2009-08-14 06:47:00 The net addition of GSM subscriber base seems to have picked up again. Cellular Operators’ Association of India (COAI) data shows that the total GSM subscriber base in July increased by 9.47 million taking the total subscriber base to 325.7 million. The total net additions in June stood at 8.9 millions. The data will eventually be upgraded as COAI factor in reliance telecom net additions in another month’s report. The growth in recent month was largely subdued after making a record in march this year. Bharti Airtel took home new additions of 2.8 million new subscribers during the July month maintaining a market share of  32.3%  for the GSM subscriber base in India. Vodafone Essar added nearly 2.2 million users garnering a market share of 24.2%. 2009-06-09 05:52:00 Business line has reported that TRAI (Telecom Regulatory Authority of India) will soon be launching a new platform to redress consumer grievance regarding inept telecom services. The platform would enable subscribers to come forward with their grievances either through Online or SMS platform. TRAI is the regulatory body for telecom related services in India. As such it is facing ire from lot of telecom subscribers complaining about low service quality experience with Telcos and MVAS providers. The platform will first direct the grievances received from new platforms to the respective service providers and if those service providers are unable to redress the grievance within a set time frame, TRAI appointed personnel’s will look into the problem. Indian Mobile Subscriber Base Touches 400 Million
2009-06-02 15:45:00 The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) in a statement issued recently announced that nearly 11.9 million wireless (GSM, CDMA and WLL(F)) subscribers were added in April 2009. Comparatively this is lower than the 15.64 that were added in March. However, cumulatively put, the picture is quite pleasing. India’s mobile subscriber base now stands at 403.66 million. This brings the total telecom user base to 441.47 million, which includes the wireless and the wireline connections. The report is quite detailed with state-wise and service provider-wise numbers for March and April 2009. The 11th Five Year Plan targeted to achieve a total telecom subscriber base of 500 million by 2010. At the speed at which things are progressing, we are likely to achieve that number faster than we expected. This growth in the wireless segment is being met with a marginal decrease in the wireline segment which saw a decline of 0.15 million thus pushing the subscriber base to 37.81 million in April...

How I Halved my RSS Subscriber Count Over a Couple of Days
2008-01-25 09:47:00 It seems I wrote too soon, if you haven't read my previous post on How I doubled my RSS Subscriber Count Over night, I can tell you that on sunday night I submitted my feed to over 40 Feed Directories, the following day I had doubled my subscribers. Today however, my subscriber count has almost halved to just above what it was on Sunday, the count has gradually dropped to this over the last few days. I'm not sure why it spiked like that or why it has now dropped back down, it maybe because people subscribed and then realised they weren't interested in the content and unsubscribed I'm not sure.Have any of you tried submitting to all those directories? Did you have an increase in your subscriber account? It appears to have rallied, however, and amid firm declarations of "I'm never doing that again", Feedfetcher has started diligently reporting subscriber numbers to us, early this morning Pacific Time. FeedBurner publishers' subscriber counts should be closer to what you'd normally expect starting with reports that will be available on Monday morning.

This could happen if they had provided your blog URL (instead of your feedburner feed) to their feed reader and their feed reader auto-discovered Blogger feed. The side effect of this is that your subscriber count will not be accurate. The first useful development of Google buying Feedburner happens to be the new "Feed redirection" feature. Using this, you can redirect your Blogger feed to Feedburner feed. You can do this by going to Settings->Site Feed and providing your feedburner feed URL for redirection (as shown below).
