2011-11-18 17:16:00 Results from the first multi-center pilot study of deep brain stimulation (DBS) for major depressive disorder were published online today by the Journal of Neurosurgery. The study, conducted at three research facilities in Canada, was designed to replicate and build upon an earlier study by Dr. Andres Lozano and Dr. Helen Mayberg which was published in the journal Neuron in 2005. Sponsored by St. Jude Medical, Inc. (NYSE:STJ), the study demonstrates significant improvement in depression symptoms among patients who are highly treatment resistant. The results of the study showed that DBS therapy targeted to an area of the brain known as Brodmann Area 25 provided noticeable improvement in depression symptoms and increased overall quality of life in patients who typically don?t respond to treatment. It is currently priced at $199. It is cheaper than our very own Reliance Tab. The device has started shipping finally in the US. It will be coming to by early next year. The dampener is that it people are reporting about Wi-fi issues with the device. There are some bugs which still have to be squashed out. The problem seems to be that the device has trouble connecting and sustaining the Wi-Fi network. Other people are also reporting that the device loses Wi-Fi when the display goes off. This is especially annoying when you are listening to Internet radio. According to Amazon’s support forums, there are quite a few workarounds to these problems. In that article they mentioned the term 'agunah' or literally translated is 'chained woman'. The man had the power to desert the family, and leave her without the 'get' or divorcement. She was what they term as the chained women to the man, because she was not allowed to remarry at that point. If she did remarry she was looked upon as adulterous, and her offspring were literally labeled as illegitimate or bastards. What isn't mentioned so much is that men also had this position laid upon them, but the consequences were not as severe. What you don't see today in the church? Is the proper definition of 'putting away' and 'divorce'. If you 'put away' your wife she was 'chained' to the man. If he gave the woman a 'get' she was no longer chained, and was free to remarry. 2008-08-14 14:26:00 I have to say at times I get so burned out speaking of this subject - emotional abuse, verbal abuse and domestic violence. It seems no one listens, and no one hears except for the victims themselves! The victims are WHOM I'm addressing most of the time. I want to make sure they feel heard, and I want them to feel they are NOT alone and shame is NOT something that everyone uses to HUSH them up! I feel at times people that see people like myself that speak about abuse as some joke, and we are not be taken seriously. I dare to speak of something that is taboo, and since I speak so much of it I must have a one track mind. Everything in my world must be seen as abusive. However, as we approach mid-August, I don't think anyone expected the Giants to be quite as much of a soft hitting club they've been. Through Tuesday, the Giants sit dead last in all of baseball in home runs, and it's not even close. The Giants have hit only 64 home runs through the seasons first 118 games which is 16 below the next lowest team (Blue Jays). I'm not trying to say that if you don't hit home runs, you won't win games, but I am trying to point out that it's tough to generate runs when your team has substantially less power than every other team in the league.
