Sci Fi Friday (Sunday Edition): Leaving The Island; An Alliance With Cylons
2008-05-19 02:15:00
This week’s episode of Lost, There’s No Place Like Home Part I, was first part of the season finale, with the flash forward apparently being not very far ahead of the story on the island. Those on the island face death if they remain, but going out to the freighter might not be even ...
SciFi Friday (Sunday Edition): The Three Big Mysteries on Television
2008-05-11 23:45:00
Lost went backwards again as opposed to a flash forward, providing more on Locke’s life. I suspect we will not see a flash forward on Locke as the fate of those who do not leave the island will remain a mystery for a while longer. We find that Richard Alpert has been watching Locke since ...
SciFi Friday (Sunday Edition): Torchwood Ends and Doctor Who Returns; A Cyl
2008-04-21 02:53:00
For viewers of the U.S. feeds of the shows, this week marked the end of Torchwood and the start of a new season of Doctor Who. Exit Wounds, the finale of Torchwood presented a surprise as it turned out that Jack’s brother Gray, and not John, was the real villain. John was really the ...
SciFi Friday (Sunday Edition): Battlestar Galactica and Doctor Who Premiers
2008-04-06 21:51:00
I held off until Sunday once again in order to catch the season premier of Battlestar Galactica, the season (series?) finale of Torchwood, and the season premier of Doctor Who. Battlestar Galactica started right where the previous season left off with Starbuck returning. Starbuck thinks her trip to Earth and back took six hours when she’s ...
Sunday Edition: Wright Comes Out Of Hiding
2008-03-30 07:00:00
Jeremiah Wright comes out of hiding Friday evening. Wright canceled several public events following the warranted uproar over incendiary comments about U.S. foreign policy and race relations, but surprised a Chicago congregation by attending an event to celebrate poet Maya Angelou’s birthday. The Rev. Jeremiah Wright received a jubilant standing ovation when he entered Saint ...SHARETHIS.addEntry({ title: "Sunday Edition: Wright Comes Out Of Hiding", url: "http://thehillchronicles.com/?-p=1228" });
SciFi Friday (Sunday Edition): Lost, Torchwood and Jericho Head Towards Fin
2008-03-24 03:23:00
It is certainly a relief that the writer’s strike ended and Lost didn’t end the season with Meet Kevin Johnson. Seeing Michael’s story after leaving the island was probably the least interesting of the episodes this season. We did learn a couple of things. The island was capable of keeping Michael from committing suicide even ...
Sunday Edition: Obama?s Folly and To What End Will They Follow Him
2008-03-23 07:00:00
It should not surprise us to learn that Obama’s popularity is on the rise once again.  With the left being extremely liberal, and most times biased, is it any wonder that more of our Constitutional rights as we know them today are not banished? Between nanny states, big brother, and now racism flourishing once again akin ...SHARETHIS.addEntry({ title: "Sunday Edition: Obama’s Folly and To What End Will They Follow Him", url: "http://thehillchronicles.com/?-p=1681" });
SciFi Friday (Sunday Edition): The Oceanic Six, Jericho, SNL, and the Disap
2008-03-16 22:11:00
This week Lost fooled us until the end with Sun in a flash forward and Jin in a flashback. We also found, to nobody’s surprise, that Michael (now Kevin) is Ben’s spy on the freighter. The producers had said that we would know all six members of the Oceanic Six after this episode, but being ...
Sunday Edition: In Defense Of Pastor John Hagee
2008-03-16 07:09:00
 Pastor John Hagee needs no defending, but as a faithful follower of the man for an upward of 11 years I deem it necessary to come to his defense.  My conscious dictates this.  All week I have heard Geraldo Rivera, a liberal, constantly making reference to Pastor Hagee on Fox and Friends and to Bill ...SHARETHIS.addEntry({ title: "Sunday Edition: In Defense Of Pastor John Hagee", url: "http://thehillchronicles.com/?-p=1662" });
Backlash: Proponents of Complementary & Alternative Medicine take issue wit
2008-02-05 23:39:00
During his recent visit to Toronto, Dr. David Colquhoun, Pharmacologist at University College London, appeared on CBC Radio’s Sunday Edition. As usual, he made many damning remarks about the validity of Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM). Notably, Colquhoun asserts that an appropriate means of categorizing the different types of medicine is not scientific versus CAM, ...

Divisional Playoffs Open Thread: Sunday Edition
2008-01-13 17:51:00
Yesterday's game were interesting. The Seahawks played worse than I thought they would and the Jaguars played better. I was very impressed with Green Bay's offensive line. They did a great job of keeping Julian Peterson and Patrick Kerney off of Brett Favre. Anyways, I'm a little short on time so let me get right to today's games. Yesterday: 2-0 Playoff Record: 5-1 San Diego Chargers at Indianapolis Colts As "Neo" said in yesterday's open thread, the Colts are really our last hope in preventing the Pats from going undefeated. Today, I'd be very surprised to see Indy lose this game. The Colts will likely put 8 guys in the box for a lot of the game and force Phillip Rivers to beat them. Antonio Gates will reportedly play, but how effective will he be? For the Colts, I'll be very interested in seeing how Marvin Harrison plays. He's making his return after sitting out many weeks. Will his timing with Peyton Manning be off at all? I think this game ...

Wild Card Weekend Open Thread: Sunday Edition
2008-01-06 18:14:00
First, let's quickly touch on yesterday's games. One was quite entertaining while the other was a bit of a snoozer. For the Redskins, I guess Todd Collins came back to earth and realized just who he was. One thing that stuck out to me was just how underrated that Seattle defense is. They can really get pressure on the quarterback. I'm very interested in seeing how the Seahawks perform next week in Green Bay. It should be an entertaining game. As for last night's game, I was very disappointed in how the Steelers performed, especially Ben Roethlisberger. I expected a much better outing from him. But he made some poor decisions and, at times, looked almost lost out there. Maybe it was the lack of a running game frustrating Ben and making him feel like he had to make plays. Regardless, bad job by Big Ben. I was also very disappointed in the play calling on Pittsburgh's 2nd to last drive. They had the ball and a one point lead with 3:43 left to play. And they call 3 ...

Sunday Roundup - Lazy Sunday Edition
2007-11-25 15:07:00
It's the perfect day to be stay at home and be lazy. It's windy, cold and rainy outside and I will be staying home all day to do a few things I've needed to do around the house. I need to put a couple of items on Ebay, balance my checkbook, do laundry and catch up on a few shows I've recorded but haven't had a chance to watch yet. It was nice to have my family in town for a few days but they are all gone back home now. Here are some great posts I've read around the blogosphere. From the M-Network:How Blogging Changed Me from beingfrugal.net. I totally agree with Lynae and I feel most people have forgotten the true meaning of Christmas. I too will be having a frugal Christmas.Why do I always find a better deal AFTER I buy it? from Gather Little by Little. I hate when that happens. Thanks for Everything from Paid Twice. Paid Twice gives a hearty thanks to the readers for keeping her accountable to improving her family's financial situation. I too am very thankful to my readers ...

Skeletons In The Vault Last Friday, Bloomberg reporter Betty Liu interviewed Beeland Interests chairman Jim Rogers. However, this interview caught my attention as the legendary investor ...

Sunday Trivia Answer: Reformation Sunday Edition
2007-10-28 12:52:00
Albert of Hohenzollern (Albert of Mainz) was roughly a peer of Martin Luther, being born in 1490 and dying in 1545. In 1513, at the age of 23, Albert was made Archbishop of Magdeburg and Bishop of Halberstadt. In 1514, Albert was appointed by the Emperor as the Prince-elector of Mainz. Finally, in 1518, Albert was made a cardinal in the church.It was also in 1518 that Albert took out a large loan from the Fuggers. This money was used by Albert to purchase the Archbishopric of Mainz and his position as a cardinal, and was used by the Pope to help fund the massive project of the Basilica of St. Peter in Rome. Johann Tetzel, the Dominican indulgence-preacher, was employed by Albert and the Fuggers to help recover some of the loan money. It was Tetzel who was preaching just outside of Wittenberg on October 31, 1517, and provoked Luther to write his 95 Theses. The interesting question is, would there have been a Reformation without Albert's provocation? How would history have looked dif...

Kudos & Wet Willies, Sunday edition
2007-07-15 13:51:00
Let's hand out some Kudos & Wet Willies on this Sunday morning.Kudos to ...• The Chicago Cubs. In case you haven't noticed, Lou Piniella's Cubbies are the hottest team in the National League. Chicago has won 14 of 18, is an NL-best 24-12 since June 3 and is just 3.5 games behind Milwaukee in the NL Central. A few weeks ago it looked like the feuding and fighting Cubbies were about to implode. Now it looks like they are making a serious run at a division title. Piniella has done something right.• Mariano Rivera. The great Rivera moved into 3rd place on the all-time saves list with his 425th Saturday night. On April 27, Rivera had an unsightly 12.15 ERA. He has now only been scored on twice in his last 18 appearances, dating back to May 23. His ERA is now 3.50 and shrinking.• Dan Patrick. This is really a tip of the hat to Patrick's 18 years of service at ESPN. Patrick is leaving the network -- if he isn't gone already since he mysteriously disappeared from 'The Dan Patric...
