Sundays
2008-05-18 20:02:00 There is something about Sunday and Saturday afternoons. I just really do not know what to make everyone for lunch? I do not really feel like making much of anything actually so I just do the sandwich thing. I would cook something on the grill but I found a mouse in my ...

Is CW giving up on Sundays?
2008-05-09 17:04:00 Filed under: Industry, Programming, Reality-FreeThat is how it would appear. 2008-04-27 15:26:00 Coming this week: I have NEVER nominated or received a nomination for anything beginning with a Q, X, or Z. So this week: I will do my level best to remedy that. But I have nominated something in every other letter. Chris Cooley: Mormons don't golf on Sundays
2008-04-23 18:57:00 Nearly everything Chris Cooley says is interesting and a recent post at Shtudown Corner by my favorite player proved no different. I listen when he discusses the relatively uninteresting story of a Reebok photoshoot so you can be damn sure I'm paying attention when he's discussing the draft from a player's perspective. And, in honor of this being the week of the Draft, I'll give you a few of my favorite snippets from the article, but encourage you all to check out the piece in its entirety. Enjoy: I figured a little golf was much more relaxing. As it turned out golfing on a Saturday in Logan, Utah is a popular event. I made the rounds to four different courses, striking out at all of them. If the first round could have been Sunday it would have worked out great for me. No Mormons golf on Sunday, I would have had the course to myself. I think Bill Parcells is, was, and will forever be a phenomenal coach. Even when he was in Dallas I had enormous respect for him for what he'd man...

Soundtrack Sundays: ?The Odd Couple? by Neal Hefti (1968)
2008-04-20 17:01:00 Neal Hufti - The Odd Couple(1968)Blaxploitation's description:The original motion picture score to the original funny double-act's best-loved movie? We like this record. Don't expect a wall-to-wall jazz or groovy score: it's not. It includes some very funny (and very sampler-friendly) dialogue from the movie, along with several reprises of the great loungey, mellow main theme. There's also one outstanding little groovy number, Metropole. As you'd expect from Hefti, the music is very jazzy, and uses a great harpsichord-style riff throughout, augmented by low tenor sax and some good organ in places. Very much a warm, enjoyable album with a sentimental twist. One for listening rather than playing out.Neal Hufti - The Odd Couple(1968)[Rapidshare Link]...Blaxploitation Soundtracks... I

Sundays R 4 Kastacan!
2008-03-10 00:08:00 For the past six months or so, Jill (my sister in law) and her boyfriend Milo (el cunado) have been joining us at our house every Sunday morning to watch football, hang out with the kiddos and stuff ourselves silly. All week we look forward to this day and the delicious brunch that Milo has introduced to our repertoire. This is the one day we eat in true Mexican style with a breakfast of warm tacos kastacan. Kastacan, for the uninitiated, is sort of a mix of fried skin and meat. Much like the ubiquitous chicharrone, commonly found hanging in plastic bags outside of the better local taco joints, this is a fried pork product created for the sole purpose of clogging ones arteries. It is absolutely heavenly and well worth the obvious health risks. Our purveyor of choice is Teresita's on the corner of calle 20 and 1 sur. This is full service taco restaurant with a handful of tables in an adjoining room, the meat counter up front well stocked with various carnitas and the back ro...

Between Sundays, by Karen Kingsbury
2008-02-02 02:41:00 I don't usually enjoy reading Christian fiction. Probably because I'm not Christian. But I have to admit, I enjoyed Between Sundays! It can be considered as a general inspirational novel, as well as a specifically Christian novel. The story follows the lives of four individuals. In the center of the story is eight-year-old Cory. Two years ago, he watched his mother die of pneumonia in front of them. He then went to live with his mother's good friend, Megan, who has dedicated her life to raising him. Cory has never met his father, but when she was alive, his mother told Cory who his father was, and promised the boy would meet him someday. And Cory knows his mother never lies! Megan, Cory's foster mother, wants nothing more than to adopt Cory. A former foster child, she is sure she was put into Cory's mother's life specifically so she could be there to save Cory from growing up in foster care. Megan has made many sacrifices in order to give Cory the best life possible... not easy...

2008-01-27 23:07:00 Today consisted of laying in bed watching the Patriots "send off rally" on TV, watching a little of the Celtics/Orlando game, and some usual Sunday grocery shopping. I was planning on making salmon for dinner tonight... but I really couldn't wait. So I made a salmon BLT for lunch instead. (grilled salmon sprinkled with pepper and garlic salt- done on the George Foreman, baby spinach, tomatoes, and a little mayo). Yum yum!I love Sundays :)[Chels]

Sundaying in Puerto Madero (from 12/16/07)
2007-12-28 07:59:00 Street musicians scattered along the peer, people strolling between. A pre-dawn glare. Six drumers with base and snare. Each of them with a set of symbols that shatter with the rhythms of their dance. They have conquered silence. They empower the mothers with toddlers who are dancing too.Mothers with barbaric arm-fling pelvic twists then squating to the ground.I am making perfection out of this instant. It is garnished with greatness. Family-farming. High culture happiness. A beer bottle polluted lagoon. But I am alone right now. Drinking a beer and a guy approaches and asks if he can have a drink of it. I say yes because this sort of thing is normal and I dont want to be an asshole, but he and his friend want the whole entire thing. After a series of concessions that i make in the conversation I realize that I am a stupid foriegner and his friend walks off with my beer. I am a stupid foreigner. What else is important?Only sometimes this is the way.

Puerto Madero: election day
2007-11-02 01:14:00 Everybody has voted, is strolling through: families, couples. There are dancers, they have attracted hundreds of people to watch- a michael jackson impersonator to ¨billy jean¨. People love it, are clapping to the beats. A little farther down the walkway: hip hop music, tango dancers, children running, a ferris wheel, adolescents making out, strollers, food vendors. Fading day light accross the lake, swans, sirens, music: all over the place there is music, hip hop, reggaton, tango, afrobeat. People laying on the hoods of their cars. Moving, I am moving through.

Shoeless Joes
2007-10-31 07:57:00 I am eating a cheeseburger at the only american bar in Buenos Aires. It took two hours to get here. There are 8 tvs, each is showing a different football game (American Football!) and i cannot get enough of these chatty businessmen who just finished closing a deal with Nike and Telephonica. I could not be happier for them, but frankly I dont give a shit. We are Detroit Lions fans. I am here to watch football. They are here to watch football. There is no place except for this bar. We are blabbermouths when the Lions score, a psychosis of nonsensical words. We give eachother five, but not five, this guy in the corner (perfect hair, skinny and tall) insists on giving ten, plus ten shots and also a kazoo. Erupting, we are members of a circus. This happened at Shoeless JoesUruguay 1175, Buenos Aires

San Telmo on a sunday
2007-10-23 06:37:00 The san telmo weekend market, a road closed pedestrian mall where bands play sporatic shows and venders have layed out their quilts in the street. There are antiques, plastic action heros, mate goards, lots of mate goards, jewlrey, paintings, peacock feathered pens. There is a constant crowd moving through, half pace. There are more tourists here than there are locals, half of the poeple were speaking english, one lady with a giant microphone, mp3 player, headhphones and a camera. she was standing in the road trying to flag down a taxi without any luck and she seemed to be getting angry.

BDA Locks in Sundays Winners!
2007-09-16 16:44:00 1st off...yes, I am a homer. I live in Chitown and I usually take the Bears. I am takingg the Bears because the Cheifs are getting twelve points and the Bears couldnt score a touchdown against San Diego, that means that the Chiefs are god awful.Bears -12 (200pts)Pittsburgh at Buffalo, Pitts Spanked clevelland and Buffalo is obviously coming off an emotional losss with major injuries. That being said 10 points is too much Buffalo is a much better team than cleveland. Losman is coming into his own. Take Buffalo and the points.Buffalo +10 (200pts)Last pick of the week is OCHO CINCO doing the Lambeau Leap multiple times into the dog pound and about 40 fat construction workers gettingg escorted out of the stadium as Cinci romps Cleveland. The funny thing is cicy is giving the least amount of all these teams and cleveland could easily be vying for worst team ever.Cincy -7.5 (200pts)BDA
We're in BIG TIME Trouble for Sundays Match-up with the Seahawks .....
2007-09-04 19:53:00 The Bucs-Seahawks Game all comes down to who the better informant turns out to be .... Hear me out: The Bucs have former Seattle Seahawks TE Jerramy Stevens. The Seahawks have recently released Bucs DL Ellis Wyms. Who do you think knows the more vital information about his former team? My money is on Wyms ..... Stevens probably blacked out everything following his vomit inducing house party last season, so he's no good for Seahawk insider information, not to mention he probably dropped fumbled the information when he initially received it anyway. Ellis Wyms on the other hand, has been with the Bucs (for ages) and witnessed first hand their schemes for the upcoming season, up until this past Saturday when he was released.Translation: We are screwed for this Sundays Match-up with the Seattle Seahawks. We're at a clear disadvantage. Wyms is probably staging a massive sleepover at his crib all week to help his new Seahawk brothren out with the Bucs Schemes. My goodness I can't beli...

Pornstar Sundays - this week featuring the most excellent Tera Patrick
2007-08-27 04:36:00 Tera Patrick had a fantastic magazine spread in Ralph Magazine this month, so we figured what better time to fill you in on all of the details behind the 31 year-old porn starlet. Here’s the wiki: Patrick was born in Great Falls, Montana to an English Jewish father and Thai mother; her parents had originally met in Vietnam during the Vietnam War. While Tera was young, her mother moved back to Thailand to live permanently, and her father moved with her to San Francisco, California and raised her there himself. Early career Patrick was discovered in San Francisco by a talent scout for the Eileen Ford Modeling Agency, and at the age of 13 she was signed to a contract to be a model. She moved to New York City shortly thereafter and her career as a runway and catalog model began. At 18, she left the world of modeling and enrolled at Boise State University where she received her associate’s (two year) degree in nursing and a BS in Microbiology. She then transferred to Univers...

Rainer Hank: The Sundays economist - stories from the stout life
2007-08-24 10:50:00 Why do parents rather guard their children in the winter than in the summer? Why are Americans luckier than Europeans? And why do women deliver their maiden name suddenly? On all these questions economists have answers. That is a rather impudent requirement, brings however strong realizations to light. The Sundays economist - those are 45 humorous stories from the stout life, which shows that economic science can be interesting for people also, which are interested otherwise quite few in economic situation theory or monetary policy. The Sundays economist explains, why the Homo Oeconomicus sometimes behaves surprising, irrationally, comfortably, greedily or dishonestly. Everything is founded economiceconomics and makes also still Spass.Das book goes back on a successful series of the Frankfurt general Sunday newspaper. It written of economic editors of the F.A.Z., which learned their business of the Pike on. With contributions of Hanno Beck, Gerald Braunberger, Karen horn, Werner Muss...

Should we use secular songs on Sundays?
2007-08-22 17:33:00 This is a great response to the question above. It was given by Bob Kauflin at his blog WorshipMatters.First, the idea that we should make "seekers" feel more comfortable in church begs for further clarification. We should make sure that unbelievers can understand what's going on in our meetings, and that we're not doing anything to make them feel unwelcome. But it's not our responsibility to make sure they're "comfortable." The church is different from the world. We've gathered to build each other up by rehearsing and celebrating the Gospel, calling to mind God's covenant promises, confess our sins, exercise spiritual gifts, and much more. "To each one is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good" (1 Cor. 12:7). I wouldn't expect someone who doesn't know the Savior to be totally comfortable in that setting. Our primary goal is to make sure that unbelievers have the opportunity to encounter in some way the grace and truth of God revealed in Jesus Christ, expr...
