Lack of Sunspot Denotes Cooling
2008-10-22 23:28:00
The absence of sunspot and solar flare are the characteristics of a silent sun. This is the solar cycle where the sun?s irradiance is in its minimum stage. And whenever the sun is in silent or blankest period, it cannot be prevented to come to mind the reminiscence of freezing Earth. Read more ... [ This is a content summary only. New Sunspot for Fall Equinox 2008
2008-09-23 01:37:00
Space Weather News for Sept 22, 2008 NEW SUNSPOT: For the first time in months, a significant sunspot is emerging on the sun. It is a fast-growing active region with two dark cores, each larger than Earth. The magnetic polarity of the sunspot identifies it as a member of new Sunspot Cycle 24. Because the year 2008 has brought so many blank suns, some observers have wondered if we are ever

Propagation condition not favorable!
2008-02-10 03:19:00
This weekend propagation condition is not so favorable. The sunspot has not shown up for the pass few days. Comparing to pervious weekend, I had much enjoyable contact up to BG, BU and some local stations on 10M and at the same time heard few stations from VK, JA. Surprisingly on 6M band I had QSO too on that particular day.The sunspot at that period average is about 16 spot. Right now the sunspot is at Zero level, predicted that it will be back next sunday or so.10/02/2008Sunspot: 0 ZeroSolar Flux at 10.7: 71Solar Wind Velocity: 410km/sGeomagnetic Activity: Quiet K=2I?m looking forward to see it pop out again next weekend.73!

The sun is near the lowest ebb of the 11-year solar cycle and, until now, 2007 has been a year of very few sunspots. Enter sunspot 978: It popped over the sun's eastern limb yesterday and is quickly becoming a behemoth. The rapidly growing sunspot group is more than five times wider than Earth, making it an easy target for properly-filtered backyard telescopes. So far sunspot 978 poses little threat for strong solar flares, but this could change if the active region's development continues apace.Sunspot 978 as seen in this picture continues to grow and it now occupies an expanse of sun more than 6 times wider than Earth. "Sunspot 978 is quite big and interesting this sunspot was photographed by Peter Heinzen of Raron, Switzerland just as the sun was setting behind some fir trees in the Swiss Alps.
Vanishing Bee Colonies,Doomsday Scenarios and Sunspots

Albert Einstein once said : “If the bee disappeared off the surface of the globe then man would only have four years of life left. No more bees, no more pollination, no more plants, no more animals, no more man.”Apocalyptic for sure. We haven't reached that point yet, but some worrisome indicators suggest dramatic drops in the bee population of the US are likely to impact crop production. This is not a small agricultural sector that is being impacted either. In the US bees pollinate more than $14 billion worth of seeds and crops each year. The disappearing bee phenomena isn't restricted to the US. In Europe countries are experiencing varying degrees of what investigators describe as "colony collapse disorder" (or CCD). Countries effected include Germany, Switzerland, Spain, Portugal, Italy and Greece. However the most serious losses have occurred in the US. On the West Coast keepers have seen bee population losses in the 30 to 60 percent range. On the East Coast and Texas it g...
