Fuel Efficient Vehicles Dominate Super Bowl Ads. Just Kidding.
2008-02-08 00:00:00 If you’re trying to pitch a new product or put a re-brand your corporation (e.g. from a eco-disaster to one of a more environmental leader), there’s likely no better forum than in a Super Bowl ad. Super Bowl Ads
2008-02-05 02:29:00 For the second year in a row the Super Bowl ads were lack luster. Few were bold or funny. Most were the same old stuff. Very disappointing. The following Bud Light commercial was the funniest in my opinion. Breathing fire. (Disclaimer - I don’t get paid by Bud or Bud Light. Wish I did. I don’t drink ...
Fuel Efficient Vehicles Dominate Super Bowl Ads. Just Kidding.
2008-02-05 01:08:00 If you’re trying to pitch a new product or put a re-brand your corporation (e.g. from a eco-disaster to one of a more environmental leader), there’s likely no better forum than in a Super Bowl ad. With hundreds of millions of people watching around the world, it’s near impossible to not get your point across. Unfortunately, it looks like the world’s major car manufacturers missed that memo. Out of the 64 commercials shown during the Super Bowl, nine were dedicated to cars, trucks and/or SUVs. Of those nine commercials, exactly one was dedicated to a fuel efficient, hybrid or alternative fuel vehicle. And, oddly enough, that one commercial was for General Motor’s Yukon hybrid. Click here to see the ad. (In GM’s defense, during the pre-game there were several commercials for their Fuel Cell prototype vehicles. Unfortunately, pre-game commercials don’t count.) Now, I suppose for $2.7 million a pop, these car manufacturers are probably goin...
The SuperBowl Ads - The Sins of Our [Advertising] Fathers
2008-02-04 20:23:00 OK. I'm not going to get into how bad every single SuperBowl ad was yesterday. 2008 Super Bowl TV Spots Grades and Reviews.
2008-02-04 05:49:00 All the 2008 Super Bowl TV spots in the network IN-GAME broadcast are reviewed here during and right after the game. NO reliance on other opinions or surveys. I grade hard. So, take heart advertisers and agencies. Cs are average and As are hard to come by. And congrats to everyone on getting your work to the big game. I may expand some of the comments as the day/s proceed....but I will not change the grades. American Airlines: CAn old spot recycled...a non-event.Audi A8: A- Excellent take off on the Godfather scene. Great dramatic exposition. Love the grease on his hands rather than the blood from Coppola's horsehead. Beautiful shot of the car taking off like a bullet.Bridgestone/Firestone: C-Animals and Richard Simmons are almost hit...but avoided by the tires. Lots of talk. Not a worthwhile investment. Spots are dark and unappealing.Budweiser Clydesdales: B+Great tradition. More high quality. Rocky is a bit tired though.Bud Light Spots: B+ to C+Too many spots...and the format is ...
Bloggers Rate the Super Bowl Ads at $2.4 Million a Pop
2008-02-04 01:23:00 Internet research companies plan to measure the "watercooler effect" of Super Bowl XXXIX ads by capturing sentiments as they bubble up within the loose collection of diarylike personal Web sites collectively known as the "blogosphere." Here's one of my favorites:Cincinnati-based Intelliseek, for one, plans to monitor positive and negative commentary about commercials in more than 3.5 million blogs, charging advertisers upward of $20,000 for its intelligence. That's about 1 percent of the $2.4 million price tag for a 30-second spot during the game this year, up from $2.3 million last year.Such research could eventually offer real-time assessment and feedback on the reception and success of ad campaigns, industry experts said, and extend the influence of an upstart medium that has already placed its mark on mainstream news publishers and broadcasters."Blogs are a real-world temperature gauge as to what's really going on out there," said Tim Hanlon, senior vice president at advertis...

Looking Forward to the Go Daddy Super Bowl Ads
2008-02-02 01:50:00 I love the superbowl but more importantly I love the superbowl commercials. I think the commercials are what make the superbowl really entertaining. Companies Banking on Super Bowl Ads
2008-01-28 02:26:00 newsWeek.com: The story lines are unabashedly goofy. Cavemen invent the wheel to transport a beer cooler made of stone, and a car buyer enlists the help of a tribal warrior in case he needs some extra negotiating leverage at the dealership. For most of us, Super Bowl ads make fine entertainment. But for the advertisers who ...

Top 10 Super Bowl Ads, According to TiVo Eavesdroppers
2007-02-06 21:21:01 Whether we like it or not, TiVo receives second-by-second audience measurement data about what its users watch, and that was no exception during Sunday's Super Bowl. That's how the company came up with its top 10 list of commercials, as measured by the amount of trick play features (rewind, fast-forward, and pause of live television) used during each commercial. So here they are, the Top 10 most viewed commercials by TiVo subscribers complete with embedded video: 1. Bud Light: Language Course with Carlos Mencia 2. Bud Light: Rock Paper Scissors 3. FedEx: Don't Judge 4. Nationwide: Kevin Federline Rollin' VIP 5. Doritos Crash the Super Bowl 6. CareerBuilder: Office Jungle 7. Blockbuster: Mouse 8. Doritos Crash The Super Bowl: Checkout Girl 9. Chevrolet: Everybody Loves a Chevy 10. Schick: Quatro Science Apparently the sample of 10,000 anonymous TiVo households didn't agree with our assessment of the best Super Bowl commercials. But the results did...
Super Bowl Ads
2007-02-06 02:54:01 This is the day after the Super Bowl and I am sure a lot of the talk is centered around Peyton Manning and the Colts winning the Super Bowl. But I want to focus on the ads. The ads were nothing special to me. In fact, I think the best ad was the promo for “The Late Show With David Letterman”. YouTube Link Some of my other favorites were the Blockbuster ad using a mouse as well a computer mouse, Jay-Z and Don Shula in Bud Bowl, The Emerald Nuts commercial with Robert Goulet, and The Bud Light Rock, Paper, Scissors Ad. So tell me what your favorite ads were. If you want to see all the Super Bowl ads, head on over to YouTube. YouTube Link And for the cutest thing in the world, head on over to Animal Planet and watch highlights from Puppy Bowl III and you can also check out the intro here. Tundra gets ready with Super Bowl ads
2007-02-04 14:34:00 Toyota is coming up with the Tundra in 2007. Toyota will be spending more than $100 million to tell the customers that it has redesigned the product. The ad blitz started with the series of ads during the Super Bowl broadcast.According to Tom Shopoff, director of truck support services for Gulf States Toyota:Some of our drivers will be leaving with their loads during the Super Bowl. We have 150 outlets and there are 600 vehicles already allocated. Since some shoppers may be new to the Tundra and might be skeptical, we wanted to make sure that at least one truck had the big engine.Toyota will be showcasing the latest version of the Tundra in the new series of ads. In the Super Bowl ads trucks are being displayed in situations that are considered extreme.According to McCullough: Our Hispanic campaign is critical to the success of this truck. If we don't get the Hispanic market to respond, we won't achieve our goals. The company has also come out with a Spanish language ad specificall... |
