The Peth - The Golden Mile
2008-09-12 04:44:00 On the face of it, the Peth seems like a terrible idea. At a time when he has been seemingly incapable of staying out of the gossip pages the Welsh actor Rhys Ifans has become the lead singer of a raucous rock band. In the past year Ifans has split up with his high-profile actress ...

Super Furry Animals: Hey Venus
2007-09-14 19:51:00 Super Furry Animals: Hey VenusFive-piece Welsh band, Super Furry Animals, release their first full length of Rough Trade records. Described as "a speaker blowing LP" by leadsinger Gruff Rhys gives you images of AC/DC or Zepplin, the LP is neither but that doesn't deter from the content.Super Furry Animals walk a thin line between seeming childlike and seeming drugged out. Their psychedelic twee-pop sound is in full force on Hey Venus. The past three SFA releases have been exploratory venture, Hey Venus seems to be a return to their strength as seen on 1995's Fuzzy Logic. The idea of a "speaker blowing LP" seems like a great one for Super Furry Animals. Songs like "The Gateway Song" and "Neo Consumer" are great rock songs with upbeat tempos. Other tracks like "Battersea Odyssey" and "Carbon Dating" have no speaker blowing elements to them. They are lush sounding pop tunes in the vein of Pet Sounds-era Beach Boys.Maybe it's a personal preference on my point, but I think a true...
SUPER FURRY ANIMALS - "Hey Venus!"
2007-08-16 23:56:00 Rough Trade - 2.007Especialmene recomendado.

Super Furry Animals - Hey, Venus!
