Barbara Mikulski (D) & Ben Cardin (D) from Maryland and John Warner (R) & Jim Webb (D) from Virginia all voted in favor of the compromise measure which passed by a 74-25 mark. To their credit, majorities of both Democrats and Republicans voted in support.Among the modifications between the Senate bill and the recently failed House one were an increase in the FDIC insurance on bank deposits to $250,000 and an extended array of business tax reductions and pork spending add-ons.The Senate measure will now go back to the House where it's hoped that the Republicans who may be more inclined to support this new version will more than offset the Democrats who may be more inclined to oppose it.
