First, I posted the question on my own blog Light Within and then emailed the post to bloggers soliciting their comments on the post. Earlier, I have been scouting blogsphere in an effort to find out different motives for blogging.Some 20 bloggers posted their comments and almost same numbers replied through email, pointing to posts on their own blogs answering my question. The study, called the TCS Generation Web 2.0 survey was conducted across 12 of the biggest cities in India – Ahmedabad, Bhubaneshwar, Cochin, Coimbatore, Lucknow, Pune, Kolkata, Mumbai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Delhi and Chennai. 14,000 students between the ages of 12-18 years were surveyed to understand what’s in the mind of these affluent students in the metros and tier II cities. The survey shows that an overwhelming 71% of students had access to Internet and 80% of them had access to mobile phones. A striking 99% of students in Delhi had access to a mobile phone while in Kolkata the corresponding number was 90%. The highest use of personal computers comes from Delhi and Bangalore; 77% of students from both the cities having answered in the affirmative.
