His influence, body of work, and intensely inspiring/brilliant musical contributions have blazed paths in the world of melodic hard rock that have been profound. His entrance into the music world changed it for the positive. He now leaves it better than it was. The melodic hard rock music scene will... This is a content summary only. Takara Tomy?s UMINE projector induces R&R
2007-08-12 10:32:00 Filed under: Household Takara Tomy's been known to offer up a few oddities, and while the UMINE projector (shown after the jump) may not be the most cockamamie device to escape its labs, it does reek of something sold on a shameless late-night infomercial. Regardless, this portable toilet, er, mood projector reportedly beams images of beach scenes, waterscapes, and various other soothing atmospheres onto your ceiling or wall, which apparently helps you to divert your attention from the demands of reality (or yearn for a vacation). Of course, we've all ideas that this thing doesn't really turn your entire room into a theoretical paradise as the images so perfectly depict, but it might not be a half bad way to zone out for just $84.[Via AkihabaraNews]Continue reading Takara Tomy's UMINE projector induces R&R Read | Permalink | Email this | CommentsOffice Depot Featured Gadget: Xbox 360 Platinum System Packs the power to bring games to life!

Takara - Japantown, San Fransisco
2007-06-27 20:26:00 Takara seemed to be a family run restaurant, with a lot of Japanese customers, which was a promising sign. I liked the place, very down to earth and everyday kind of sushi bar, but I did feel like they had lost some of what’s special about Japanese food culture. I guess it is me ...
Takarazuka Documentary: Dream Girls
2007-05-24 00:43:00 Many thanks to today's review sponsor, Bruce. The copy of this DVD that I watched is his, on loan to me until he finds space in his new place for it. :-) Thanks Bruce!Dream Girls is a 1994 documentary about the Takarazuka Musical Revue. It follows new students just joining the school and several performers in various stages of development, interspersed with interviews of some of the fans of various performers. In any discussion of Takarazuka, gender and gender identity are inevitable topics. Upon entering the Takarazuka school, women take either male or female roles, and are required to not only play those roles upon the stage, but to live them 24/7. And to this viewer's eye, the insistence on those gender roles are absurdly, obscenely old-fashioned and misogynistic. So much has been written about Takarazuka and gender that honestly, it would be silly for me to even attempt a basic discussion. If you are interested, do yourself a favor and click the picture above for the Google sea...
