Tampa Bay Bucs Receiving Corps as fragile as ever?
2008-05-28 13:00:00
Going into Last Season our Wide Receiving Corps was one of the (if not the) weakest in the league.. Fast forward to present day and that verbage continues to ring true as evidence by the Bucs bringing in not one, not two, but three more Wide Receivers to audition for starting jobs... This is getting ridiculous The Bucs have invited old man Eric Moulds, old man Eddie Kennison, and no-name Bryan Gilmore to become Tampa Bay Buc Wide Receivers... eh. This doesnt bode well for the current guys on the roster. Dexter Jackson will certainly bring some excitement to the table, but who else will show up? Clayton? Stovall? Bryant? At least Galloway and Hilliard will come to play It's insanely early, but bringing in these three guys for looks doesnt exude confidence in one's current corps of Receivers, yikes...

Tampa Bay Bucs Rookies to experience 1st NFL Mini-Camp
2008-05-01 17:00:00
Tampa Bay Buccaneer Rookies CB Aqib Talib, WR Dexter Jackson, OG/OT Jeremy Zuttah, DT Dre' Moore, QB Josh Johnson, LB Geno Hayes, and RB Cory Boyd will get to taste what its like to be part of an NFL Franchise this weekend when they take part in the Bucs Rookie Mini-Camp. The Rookies are not allowed to report permanently to their teams and the ongoing offseason training programs until the third full week of May. This weekends Mini-Camp is also open to first year players, I'm assuming thats first year players in the league, therefore new players to the Bucs Organization like OC Jeff Faine and WR Antonio Bryant will not surface at One Buc Place over the weekend. RB Kenneth Darby, WR Chad Lucas and OT Dennis Roland will attend the weekends events. The rookies will arrive in Tampa today and get their first look at One Buccaneer Place. They will get physicals, meet the Bucs' football staff and sit down for a meeting with Head Coach Jon Gruden. On Friday and Saturday the rookies will...

Tampa Bay Bucs to Trade down in the Draft? You're kidding me
2008-04-22 05:41:00
Tampa Bay Buccaneers to trade down in Saturday's NFL Draft? Stephen Holder of the St. Pete Times, Scott Kramer of BucStats, and Peter King of Sports Illustrated think the Bucs should trade down. Count me as a guy who's not amused. Their main argument is that the Bucs should trade down to accumulate draft picks, because there's depth at Wide Receiver and Cornerback in this draft. Holder goes so far as to suggest the Bucs taking a gamble on WR Early Doucet because who knows if he's any better than projected 1st rounder Limas Sweed. Doucet, a Where does this arrogance come from? It must trickle down from the Bucs organization. What part of our offense outside of Joey Galloway and Jeff Garcia makes you think we can pass on 1st Round talent? Oh, I guess so we can take our shot at two mid-level draft picks flaming out? How about the Bucs HOLD on to their picks. There's a reason we only have (5) picks to begin with (Damn you, Bruce Allen, for wasting those picks on Michael Ben...

Tampa Bay Bucs? David Boston Pleas to Reckless Driving
2008-04-18 07:25:00
St. Petersburg, Florida. Wide receiver David Boston of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers ends his sojourn through the criminal justice system today. Boston and the prosecution agreed to a plea bargain that reduced the original criminal charge of DUI to the crime of Reckless Driving. Judge William Overton imposed the following punishment for the Reckless Driving conviction: 6 months probation Attend DUI school Complete 50 hours of community service Pay $1,115.00 in fines and fees Boston has claimed his innocence on the DUI charge from the beginning, and apparently the reduced charge was offered because of video tape evidence. Boston’s driving and field sobriety tests were captured on film and benefited Boston. Video either makes or completely breaks a defendant’s case. Breaking News: Tampa Bay Bucs CB Brian Kelly to test Free Agency
2008-01-27 17:08:00
Tampa Bay Buccaneers CB Brian Kelly (B.K.) will "buy back" the final year of his contract by exercising a $480,000 option in the second week of March in order to become a Free Agent and to test the market reports St. Pete Times writer Rick Stroud. Brian Kelly confirmed his intentions via text message: "Consider it done", Kelly said. - St. Pete Times This is fairly shocking news to be honest. I realize he hasnt always seen eye-to-eye with the organization and the way it compensates him, but at 32 years of age, he figures this is the time to bank one last time? Coming off two injury riddled seasons? In the year before last he played in TWO Games. This season he missed SIX Games. By opting to enter the Free Agent market, it definitely doesn't rule out a return to the Bucs, but Allen typically likes to sign older washed up players and Kelly clearly has some fuel left in the tank, so it might be time to say goodbye to B.K. and to wish him the very best!! By the way, do...

New Era Scouting: Tampa Bay Bucs Mock Draft 1.0
2008-01-19 08:46:00
The fellas from New Era Scouting have provided a Tampa Bay Buccaneers Mock Draft for the entire 7 Rounds of April's NFL Draft. To say these guys have put in an extensive amount of hours and preparation into their Scouting would be a HUGE understatement. Below you'll find their Mock Draft Picks for the Bucs:1st Round Draft Pick (#20) - Ryan Clady Boise State OT 6'6, 319 - Clady is a classically built left tackle packed with strength and athleticism. The junior uses his hands and upper body strength really well to keep defenders away. Will need to learn how to play in a pro-style offense where he can’t just stand back and let opponents come to him. Will have trouble with speed rushers who can work his inside shoulder. I'm not sure an Offensive Lineman is what we really need to Draft in the 1st Round this off-season. We drafted Arron Sears in the 2nd Round last year, Davin Joseph and Jeremy Trueblood in Rounds 1 & 2 the previous year. I know we need help on the line, I think GM...

Battle of the Lines: Youth VS The Aged... Tampa Bay Bucs OLine vs Giants DL
2008-01-05 19:21:00
I'd probably lose the respect of a couple members of this Site had I not conveyed the following story... A Buc 'Em contributer once said, "A Game is lost or won somewhere in the trenches" - Quote via Buc'Em Contributer kmac68k12 Going into tomorrow's Playoff Game against the New York Giants, alot of the talk has been about the Skill Positions; QB Eli Manning and whether he'll bring his "A" Game or "No" Game... CB Ronde Barber talking smack about the SORRY Giants and so on and so on... What usually gets overlooked during this time however is the Offensive Line. Paul Schwartz of the New York Post once again, presents us with a great article about the Tampa Bay Buccaneers YOUNG Offensive Line and the Battle it will face when the Giants Veteran Defensive Line comes into town. Our offensive line is the youngest in the NFL with an Average Age of 25 years old. This entire unit has yet to make a name for itself, but 2nd Year Right Tackle Jeremy Trueblood hopes to change that Sunda...

Battle Flags: Every Fan at the Game gets a Tampa Bay Bucs Playoff Flag
2008-01-04 02:07:00
As if you needed any more incentives to attend the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Opening Playoff Game against the New York Giants... The Organization is supplying every Fan who enters the Stadium with a Battle Flag: These tattered Flags were used during the Bucs 2002 Superbowl Run and have ever since been a staple of Buccaneers Playoff Football. Bucs LB Derrick Brooks had the following to say about the Flags in the Stands: "Let's make it loud; let's make it proud," said Brooks. "Let's wave those red and white flags and go out and get a victory. We need Buc's Fans to get their asses in the stands" - Buccaneers.com Okay so Derrick didnt really say that last line up above, but if you're a Bucs Fan in the Tampa Area you really don't have a reason to not be at the game. Recent word is that the game WILL NOT BE BLACKED OUT and the Organization is less than 500 tickets away from a SELL-OUT - Bucs Beat

...UPDATE... Gruden has taken QB Jeff Garcia out of the game before the end of the 1st Half along with WR Joey Galloway!!! Thank goodness for that... WR Maurice Stovall looked like he shattered anything and everything inside his right arm, Galloway looked to have aggrivated his left shoulder injury, and Greg White, the teams leading Sack Getter also got injured.Gameday Thread.... Bucs AT 49ers, 4:05pm Est on Fox. This is our 2nd to last ball game before the Playoffs. Pray for NO INJURIES!!! It'll be interesting to see if Garcia plays the whole game. Go Bucs!

Gameday Thread: Tampa Bay Bucs vs Atlanta Falcons
2007-12-16 17:09:00
When: 1:00pm Est Sunday Where: Raymond James Stadium Why to Watch: With a Win the Bucs head to the Playoffs!! I know the Falcons as a whole seem like a Bad Dream, but our players shouldnt take them lightly today. You've got a team that has been kicked while its down and should clearly come together on this day and save some face. I expect today's game to be brutal. The Falcons want to resemble a team and the Bucs want to wrap up their Playoff hopes. Don't look for a 31-7 outcome today, its not going to happen. Despite the distractions, the Falcons will come in focused today. To talk about that focus, here's a Q & A session with our Atlanta Falcons Blogger, Dave, from The Falcoholic: JScott: Bobby Petrino.... Did you see his departure coming? Now that you've had time to reflect, are you and the fan base glad that he made this decision, was there a quiet consensus building over the course of the season that felt Petrino wasn't right for the job? Will the Falcons replace P...

Roy Williams to Jeff Garcia, Um Yeah... Tampa Bay Bucs-Detroit Lions Prelud
2007-10-19 03:15:00
Don't look for Bucs QB Jeff Garcia and Lions WR Roy Williams to meet at mid field after the game Sunday to share chuckles and hand shakes. Lions WR Roy Williams put QB Jeff Garcia on blast this week on WDFN ESPN Radio. He went as far as to say Garcia blamed his teammates rather than own up to his mistakes. Checkout that portion of the interview below by pressing play: It's kind of lame, after the fact, to call out your former QB publicly, but hey it makes for some good entertainment. It's a shame QB Jeff Garcia didn't hear this rant and get a chance to respond to it ....... Oh wait he did: "As a quarterback, you're always shouldering the blame," he said. "I had no problem absorbing whatever it was that I had to absorb (at times) when we weren't able to win football games. We play this game as a team and everybody's responsible and everybody has to have accountability. That's where I felt that, at times, there wasn't a whole lot of accountability among everyon...

BUCS WIN 24-3CB Brian Kelly is a game time decision, WR Ike Hilliard is a game time decision, and DE Patrick Chukwurah is questionable for todays game against the Rams. Where: Raymond James Stadium Who: Bucs and Rams When: 1:00PM Est Time Hopefully the field holds up today, as USF handily defeated the Tar Heels yesterday in RJ. That game had a lot of passing, so the field shouldn't be too bad.. An element that is new for the Offense this season consists of QB Jeff Garcia opting out of Head Coach Jon Grudens play calls at the line of scrimmage, at times in the huddle, and even while Gruden is relaying the play to Jeff on the sidelines: "It was just a couple of times on the sideline when I was standing next to him and a play he was thinking about, I kind of shook him off a little bit and said, 'Let's go somewhere else with that." Garcia said. "We have plenty of plays in the program, in the system," Garcia said. "Let's do things that I feel good about on the field and we'll ...

CADDY IS STARTING!!!!! If you click here you'll be taken to ESPN's Scoreboard Page where they have this lovely innuendo to Today's game against the New Orleans Saints: "Winning in Tampa should be a `Brees' for Saints" What looked worse? A (41-10) ass whipping from the Colts or a (20-6) demoralizing loss to the Seahawks? 31 Points looks bad ... Thanks ESPN for counting us out, I appreciate that. anyway ...... There is a ball game today at RAYMOND JAMES STADIUM, otherwise known as our HOME OPENER ........ Where: Raymond James Stadium Who: Bucs and Saints When: 1:00PM Est Time DE/LB Patrick Chukwurah is out for another Week, DB Brian Kelly is Doubtful, DB Phillip Buchanon will start in his place, RB Cadillac Williams and DT Chris Hovan are game time decisions. 2007-09-15 16:36:00
Here's a couple Bucs Stories I thought were worth pointing out to you: Don't be surprised if you don't see Head Coach Jon Gruden along with other prominent coaches on the sidelines sunday. Oh they'll be there, they'll just be wearing disguises in lue of the New England Patriots Watergate Scandel. - St. Pete Times You shall forever know OL Anthony Davis as "Uncle Phil" (from the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air) or as "Manatee" ... says "Long-Face" OL Donald Penn - Tampa Tribune LB Cato June has been a big trash talker this offseason, but he's kind of quieted down now that his Alma Mater aka Michigan, well, SUCKS - Tampa Tribune DB Phillip Buchanon is set to start in place of injured DB Brian Kelly .... Tampa Bay Bucs Shopping WR Michael Clayton, HAH!
2007-08-30 03:52:00
The Bucs Beat has confirmed that the Bucs are indeed Shopping WR Michael Clayton and have officially put him on the Trading Block. Stop Laughing let me finish. The Bucs Beat continues to say that the Bucs have a "Glut of Receivers" and that Clayton may have the highest value as he "has fallen behind Joey Galloway, Maurice Stovall, David Boston and Ike Hilliard on the depth chart." No, No stop laughing, you read that right ..... Who in their right mind would call the Bucs about a Receiver who can't beat out the likes of Stovall (who disappeared in the PreSeason), Boston (who has been out of the league for years), and Hilliard (who lets be honest, is no where near a #2 Receiver). WoW and I thought we were lacking Wide Receivers. Apparently we have a surplus of Wide Receivers. I guess that does happen when you have 5 Spots open and you have 6 or more Good Receivers. Hmmm, As our little world turns. How many calls do you think GM Bruce Allen received? None? Good Guess, but the Lions DI...

Tampa Bay Bucs LOVE Triangle ...
2007-08-24 01:31:00
Believe it or not, LG Davin Joseph has a HUGE crush on QB Jeff Garcia AND QB Jeff Garcia loves HC Jon Gruden ... the Triangle is complete. If you'll remember, earlier in the off-season Gruden confessed his love for QB Jeff Garcia here. Now Paul Domowitch of Philly.com relays the love Garcia has for his Head Coach and the obvious crush Davin has for his new starting QB ... Joseph said in response to Garcia's lone Touchdown of the PreSeason: "Did you see that [touchdown play]?" right guard Davin Joseph asked. "It was crazy. He takes those nothing plays and turns them into something. He keeps the offense going. Makes something happen. He has a never-say-die attitude that allows him to do that." Are you getting excited for the season yet? The Offensive Line is HAPPY!!! Open the flood gates! I think we're gonna surprise some folks this year, so long as we don't start slow.

Tampa Bay Bucs: Injury Bug and Trade News
2007-08-22 05:17:00
Injury Bug Updates: Projected Starting Left Guard and Rookie Draft Pick Arron Sears was carted off the field today. The prognosis thus far is a sprained ankle. Last Season Davin Joseph had a sprained knee that kept him out of the first 3 games of the season, so hold your breath Arron pulls through. Dan Buenning and Anthony Davis would battle for the open spot, Go DAN GO! LB Antoine Cash, who suffered a knee injury in saturday nights whipping from Jacksonville, is out for the Season and has been placed on Injured Reserve. Rookie S Tanard Jackson has a mild hamstring strain ... he should be able to play Saturday against the Dolphins ... Rookie LB Sam Olajubutu was also placed on IR with a torn achilles tendon (how nasty does that sound?) suffered in Saturdays PreGame Warm-ups. CB Phillip Buchanon was fitted with a soft cast on his wrist and will miss a few days of practice. Finally G Jeb Terry is walking with the help of crutches, which is never good. Meet the Tampa Bay Bucs NEW Cornerback ....
2007-08-07 19:49:00
Saturday Bucs Fans in attendance at the Wide World of Disney Training Camp site got to enjoy the sites of a New Cornerback for the Bucs .... the new guy was none other than Head Coach Jon Gruden! Granted he was the only defender on the field. Gruden was trying to make the drill more interesting for his Offensive Unit. He lined up to cover WR Joey Galloway, wouldn't you know it Gruden picked the pass off! Gruden had the following to say: "It was a great play, obviously," said Gruden (with a wicked smile). "I was out there by myself with no help. You saw it. I thought I made a nice play on the ball, and I did what Galloway does and threw it to the crowd. I was going to return it, but I had a late night last night with these scripts. I had some fun though."I only have one question though .... Who was throwing the ball? Hah! These stories are great though and the type of variety I really enjoy reading about.

Tampa Bay Bucs Team Analysis

Tampa Bay Bucs Staff to learn from Florida Gators Staff

Image courtesy of SportsLogos.net In what is probably one of the cooler reports of the off-season, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Coaching staff met with the Coaching Staff of the National Champion Florida Gators today to share strategies at Raymond James Stadium. Gruden had this to say about the potential gains from the gathering: "We're going to go back to the facility and maybe learn a couple tricks from the Gators" As a Florida State University Alum, this kind of irks me and just comes off as wrong (collusion)? Nah, but I must say, Coach Urban Meyer is one great offensive mind to pick, thats for sure. Maybe Gruden will implement the Shotgun this season.
