Nightly Ramble: Gas Taxes; MP3’s and such; Handguns; More
2008-07-21 22:05:00
Davidremarked the other day on the tax hike on fuel being proposed by the Democrats. I think his headline to be crucial to understanding this thing. Imagine with me, if you will, what would happen to the Democxrats and their chances in November if they printed headlines as David did; Democrats propose fifty-four percent gasoline tax increase Think they’d stand a snowball’s chance? David calls them idiots. I think not. True, it’s a destructive plan. But they’re Democrats… since when would they EVER be held to account? They KNOW they’ll never be held to account. I’m forced to conclude it… There’s something in the inbreeding of the soccer fan.. regardless what country is involved. I wonder about this, too, speaking of soccer. Donnagets a new phone, with a decent MP3 player in it. So, I get the Sanza she’s been carrying around till now.   It’s nice, since I do have a rather large MP3 collection… I figured out ...

I complained last night that Memeorandum had been pretty much ignoring BitsBlog. Apparently, someone there is reading, and they reacted. The post complaining about being ignored, got featured status. Gottena  few links through since then, a well. Nice to know they’re reading. I never knew. The timing of the thing is amusing, also… best laugh I’ve had in a week, that. Seems the Reublicans have been listening to BitsBlog, too. OK, maybe not, but at least they’ve caught on to the idea of who is to blame for the current gasoline prices…. and it’s not the oil companies. Putnam said on the Democrats’ watch, “America has become a nation of $4 gasoline. This expensive milestone arrives two years removed from an endless stream of assurances by Democrat leaders that they had their hands on a ‘commonsense plan’ to lower gas prices,” Putnam said Sunday in a news release. … Sadly, John McCain still doesn’t get it. ...

Another Benefit Of Having Your Own Business?
2008-06-07 20:22:00
Tax Deductions! Now that I can put this tax year behind me as far as my 2007 income taxes are concerned I have to tell you that one of the benefits of having one's own business is that you are able to deduct a lot of things that are considered business expenses!Since I have earned money from adsense there are a lot of things that I have been able to deduct as far as my blogs and internet services are concerned. You can also deduct things such as computer supplies, advertising costs and much, much more!I do have to say that I hate the "self-employment" tax part of filing my income taxes because any income you make over $400 will have a self-employment tax!I hate paying money! However I do love MAKING money!
Corporate Tax Folly. . .

So the candidate of CHANGE, OBAMA, keeps telling us just how unfair the tax code is because the rich aren't paying enough and corporations aren't paying enough. Even the slightly left of lunatic NY Times understands that raising the corporate tax hurts real people. . not fat cats. The ultimate payers of the corporate tax are those individuals who have some stake in the company on which the tax... Click the Headline Link to Visit Copious Dissent and Read the Full Story.

Cap and trade, freedom, and the collapse of our nation.

Online Businesses In New York Would Need To Collect Taxes
2008-06-01 02:08:00
People in New York, beware while shopping from online stores! You would be taxed while shopping henceforth, from online stores whether or not they are based in New York! This is effective with the new budget of the empire state.Companies like Amazon, Overstock have been trying to get off this additional burden for their customers, but have not been successful. These online retailers have been asked to collect taxes from people of New York, who make purchases through their sites, if they opt to maintain direct or indirect affiliations with New York based entities. Overstock is reported to have announced that it wishes to snap all ties with New York based websites and also have filed a suit with the New York State Supreme Court, against New York State Department of Taxation and Finance, New York tax commissioner Robert Menga, and the state governor.More news here and here.
Edmonton Property Taxes Going Up In 2009
2008-05-31 05:34:00
Many Edmonton property owners found a gift of the 2008 tax assessment in their mailbox this week. Although the heavy envelopes probably weren't met with squeals of glee they will certain be more pleasant than what will hit your mailbox next year. Expect property taxes to increase by at least 9% in 2009"This is … just maintaining existing levels. These are no extra frills. This is where we need to start," Coun. Kim Krushell on proposed tax increases to Edmonton property owners. The growing city requires a lot of money to meet the demands on infrastructure from population growth. You'll just have to factor in this little expensive when you buy your next property. If you divide your property taxes over 12 months this will be a small blip in the figures. The city also has a Monthly Payment Plan that is relative easy to set up and makes the tax payment a lot less painless.

Seychelles tax? The Republic of Seychelles does not levy taxes on offshore companies. Setting financial goals helps direct financial planning. Examples of financial goals are: "To retire at age 50 with a personal net worth of $800,000 American," or "To buy a house in 3 years paying a monthly mortgage servicing cost that is no more than 25% of my gross income". It is not uncommon to have several goals, some short term, and some long term. Read more about finance.

That last time I used my credit card, I kicked myself. You see, I'm trying out this whole negative reinforcement thing. Democrats are still under the impression that lower taxes are what caused the mild, fully employed slowdown this year. How, exactly, will raising taxes while spending more help the economy? Yes, Art… I have seen the book as well. I have to tell you and honesty I found a depressing read. The reasons are rather simple; your first problem is that it does in fact make sense. I’m that basis alone it would never fly. Getting the idea? Of course, the second one is of a kind with the first, and it’s the one you list as your personal favorite, the current taxes will longer be used to manipulate and punish the American people for doing various things or not doing various things. Frankly, I don’t care what party they’re in. I suspect that in the end they will not want to give up that power. At least, that would include the crop of Republicans we currently have. By the way, I told Neal this several months ago after the book first came out. by all means go ahead and write them, but don’t expect them to be very conversant. He does get out of the hospital a couple days ago… a knee operation, I believe. I have to tell you that the plan would...
