2008-04-02 07:54:00
I have been to Penang Hill 2 years back and did not know that there is an English restaurant called David Brown. As I went to the tourism web site to check it out, I was amazed to find the interior decoration modern with a touch of class and obviously it has been renovated, a ...

All those who have some relations with literature written in Pakistan are very well familiar with Pak Tea House and what has happened to it in present times.Raza Rumi and group of Pakistani writers bloggers has taken the spirit and put it online as Pak Tea House. It is about Pakistan and the inspiration is the defunct institution of Pak Tea House in Lahore that was once a place for intellectual discourse, recognising creativity and where the old and the young mingled with ease and mutual respect. Halqa-i-Arbab-i-Zauq of Lahore also flourished here - but this was a platform not restricted to arts and literature as it enabled the visitors to discuss and share ideologies and contribute to social and political movements. We will be posting news, views and insights on diverse topics that relate to Pakistan, South Asia and the rest of the world.Your contributions, ideas and comments are welcome... Miss Marple's Tea Room, Dandenong Range, Victoria
2008-01-24 14:00:00
I love English Tea! Having it at Miss Marples Tea Room was a treat but Gavin had to drive us about an hour up Mt. Dandenong to Sassafras. We truly appreciate the effort he made and Ai Ling for suggesting the place. The Tudor style house was already quaint in itself and you can see the place is popular because there was a queue for a table. It really was our lucky day because we got a table almost immediately. The tea room is located on a main roadopposite 'Sassy' (Sassafras) Plants.Belgian waffles was David's first choice and it was the special of the day.Miss Marples famous fingers. Open toasted sandwich.Ai Ling ordered the fresh chicken, cheese and asparagus. These were nice especially when eaten hot.Beef Cottage Pie. Gavin likes this.Devonshire scones. Plain ones are my favorite!Topped with whipped cream and home made jam.A perfect mouthful of scones loaded withwhipped cream and a dollop of jam.I had rosehip tea with my scones.

Cha-An Japanese tea house in NY !!!!
2007-12-19 19:35:00
A fast-paced passerby in search of something exciting will walk past the restaurant's humble facade. But if you are lucky enough to stop, open the door, walk up a staircase, and pull away two thick, square curtains hanging down mid-waist, Cha-an's warmth will encompass you immediately. Sensational Japanese tea house with excellent service, fine food and delightful assortment of teas. They have great lunch/dinner "sets", dishes and fabulous desserts that go great with their amazing selection of teas. Dim lit and quiet, the room is filled with wooden square tables and Japanese simplicity. The menus come in a big book. The majority of the book is dedicated to all the types of tea that they have. When the plate was served, the waitress rested a set of chopsticks atop a little black stone. The chopsticks were tied with a pink string making the experience seem like an exquisite little gift...The sweet potato samosas were presented in a relatively simple, yet still beautiful Japanese bow...

Qing Yuan Tea House
2007-10-27 11:46:00
The Qing Yuan tea house is a quiet place to chat with friends. If you are alone, it is also a nice place to savor tea and read a book.Just some of the food offerings at the buffet. You can order noodles soup, pork dumplings and fried eggs at this window counter. The spread was quite good with lots of fresh fruits, soups, fried noodles and sweets. This pot of tea lasted me a while.Just ask for a refill of hot or cold water.Order your tea and enjoy a buffet spread on the house. Of course your tea might just set you back a few hundred RMB! Today we tried something different - white tea served cold. Not too expensive at RMB68 per pot. Some pu erh tea cost more than twice that amount!Black tea as we know it is fermented tea. White tea is is made from immature tea leaves that are picked shortly before the buds have fully opened. The tea takes its name from the silver fuzz that still covers the buds, which turns white when the tea is dried. The exact proportion of buds to leaves varies dependi...

Harlequin Coffee & Tea House, 2 Kings Square, York.
2007-09-08 21:08:00
We’d seen this place before, whilst walking through King’s Square. It is just along from the King’[s Café which we have reviewed previously, so thought we would pop in for a spot of lunch. What a great place! The place had nicely laid clean tables, pleasant staff and was decorated in a very inviting way. We were soon seated and had ordered Soup of the Day, a couple rounds of sandwiches, mine being a Ham and Chutney and Paul having the Club Sandwich. Wanting to try the famous Harlequin Scones with organic raspberry jam and clotted cream left us no option but to go for that as well. The soup was fresh and served with olive bread. The Ham in both our Sandwiches was cut from the bone and beautiful. The chutney was fresh and tangy and complimented the ham very well. As well as Ham, Paul’s Club Sandwich also came with Chicken, Bacon and Prawns. Served with a fresh salad they were both a meal in themselves. Accompanied by a hot pot of tea we were quite content looking out f...
