Temple Bar: Don't worry about the couches, just enjoy the beer
2008-02-28 21:27:00
To many, Temple Bar on Nørrebrogade in Copenhagen, is surely a dependable 'standby' kind of place, pretty much any night of the week (and especially on weekends). A place that is very much like an old - very old - comfortable (and rather ugly) sofa that you just can't bring yourself to throw out. In fact, Temple Bar is filled with ratty sofas and chairs upstairs that they really should bring themselves to throw out.It is perhaps for this reason that year after year living here in Copenhagen, I have resisted the urge to frequent the place. In fact, until last week, I had never even set foot there. This was not because I doubted that it was a dependable place for having a drink and a chat with a friend or two. Rather, whenever it has come to finding a place to grab a beer in Norrebro, there was just always some place else that always pulled us in. Temple Bar just seemed like it would always be there when, eventually, it was needed. And so the years went by.So I stumbled in there th...

Dublin: Midweek Madness at the Temple Bar Hotel
2007-03-20 17:27:00
Photograph by Kari Hoerchler The Tower Hotel Group has just announced a Midweek Madness deal for their Temple Bar Hotel, through April 30. This offer is valid Sunday through Thursday nights, and with a €120 per room per night rate for up to three guests, this is a good deal for a hotel in the heart of Dublin’s entertainment district. Though cheaper digs in Dublin abound, those looking for a dependable business-class hotel with standard amenities could do a lot worse. Millions of tourists flock to Temple Bar every year for pubs, grub, free concerts, outdoor markets, and even the occasional serenade from a sensational wandering busker. Book stalls, the Project Arts Centre, the Ark Children’s Centre, the Temple Bar Music Centre, the New Theatre all render Temple Bar Dublin’s Cultural Quarter. With the 2007 Handel Festival just around the corner (April 13 through April 20), Cheapos might want snap up this deal before other culture vultures swoop down on this hot hotel ...
Temple bar - Dublin
2007-02-22 17:33:05
