Update On Tennessee Experiences A Blue, Blue, Blue Christmas: Computer Thef
2008-01-02 05:17:00 ?People are just beside themselves. They are just livid about this.? That?s the quote by Councilman Michael Craddock, chairman of the Metro Council's Public Safety Committee in Nashville. Craddock and mayor Karl Dean are having a little post?holiday get together with officers to find details on the break?in and on the security of the premises as well as on the stolen laptops. I?m guessing it?s not going to be as friendly as I make it sound. Furthermore, three Metro department officials are also being summoned for questions by city council. Summoned. That?s a word you pray not to hear in your life, unless you?re Harry Potter and have to make a dragon appear in a flash. Some more details are showing up that are conflicting with original reports, which in themselves were conflicting as well. It seems that the spokesperson last year (or, if you prefer, about three days ago--Happy New Year! everybody!), was a little too eager in insin...

Growing Controversy over Tennessee Executive Mansion Renovations

Tennessee Experiences A Blue, Blue, Blue Christmas: Computer Theft Reported
2007-12-29 06:26:00 Tennessee is alerting Nashville residents that 337,000 voters in the city have had their information compromised. Thieves stole laptop computers that contained the names and Social Security numbers of every registered voter. Initially, it was reported that only the last four digits of the SSNs were included, but further examination showed that this is not the case. The election commission office is preparing to send notices to those affected. There’s no mention on whether the stolen laptops had any security measures in place, so one must assume the worst. Also, the Department of Safety is reporting that a desktop computer and laptops were stolen from their offices. A spokesman for the department said that the computers were blank because they were about to be distributed to employees, and there shouldn’t have been any personal information on the stolen devices: “Even if they did get access to it, they’re almost worthless to them,â€...
The Duke, errr Tennessee Report
2007-12-28 19:58:00 As speculation over the possibilities for Tennessee's next offensive coordinator runs rampant, the powers that be on the hill aren't talking. I don't expect them to release anything about potential new hirings but I surely would like to know which coaches are no longer going to be with the team after the bowl game.

Knoxville Tennessee gifts for sellers & buyers
2007-12-15 00:14:00 Here's an oldie but a goodie from a last year's post that bears recycling. Each time you have a closing make 2 extra copies of the closing statement. Write the buyer and seller each a letter dated January 2nd of the following year that says something like: Dear Tom and Denise, Before you know it tax time will be on us again. To save you some time (and hopefully some money) I'm enclosing a copy of the closing statement from the real estate transaction we had this past year. As you probably know some of these expenses could be tax deductible; your accountant or tax preparer can best advise you as to which ones. I hope this is a benefit to you as you prepare your 2007 tax returns. If I can be of further service to you or your friends & family in any future real estate transactions please give me a call or e mail Thank you once again for your business in 200X. It's Great To Be A Tennessee VOL
2007-11-30 14:40:00 By Jared GableIn light of tomorrow?s national championship game, I would like to take this opportunity to list my top ten reasons why it?s great to be a Tennessee Vol. Here goes: 1. Philip Fulmer. I am by no means a Fulmer homer, but all this guy does is win ballgames when it matters. After the embarrassing loss in October to that Tuscaloosa school that shall not be named, Coach Fulmer somehow pulled out a streak of wins in the toughest conference in the universe. He is not a perfect man or a perfect coach, but I don?t think there is a program in all of football that would not be satisfied with the consistent success that this coach has maintained for the last 15 years. Anyone who would place this guy on ?the hot seat? needs to have their head examined and their expectations realigned. He is an incredible recruiter and a solid coach. 2. Rocky Top. I love this jam and you know you do to. To some people it may get a little tiresome wh...

Three men indicted in Tennessee mortgage fraud allegations
2007-11-25 03:50:00 In the following press release on November 16, 2007, the Office of U.S. Attorney for the Middle District of Tennessee, announced that Harold Stafford, Miles Jackson Black and Jeffrey Dunn Hathcock were indicted by a federal grand jury on Wednesday for conspiracy, wire fraud and bank fraud. In addition, Harold Stafford was charged with money laundering. The fifty-one count indictment alleges that from January 2005 through October 21, 2005, Stafford, Black and Hathcock engaged in a mortgage fraud scheme that involved the purchase of approximately twenty-two luxury homes in Hendersonville and Gallatin by unqualified straw buyers. Stafford, Black and Hathcock caused the submission to mortgage lenders of false mortgage loan applications that overstated the straw buyers’ income, falsely stated that the homes would be the straw buyers’ primary residences, and failed to disclose other recent home purchases by the same straw buyers. How we beat Tennessee - the breakdown
2007-11-20 16:59:00 There's a lot to take from the MNF clash. The game says a lot about our team, where we are and where we're going. I want to focus on the game itself, but I also want to point out some related issues that fans should be interested in. First, a huge happy first birthday to Guru's daughter. Guru's first quarter post tells us that he went missing this weekend to help her celebrate, and we all know the only thing better than being a good Denver fan is being a good dad. Happy birthday little Guress! Second, a big shout out to...wait for it...wait for it... to the ESPN MNF producers! We've been griping about the quality of the MNF presentations, and I know a lot of us wrote to the ESPN ombudsman to complain. Well I think they did the right thing and repaired their product. They didn't talk over the plays like they used to do (all of the time). In fact, they made a point of cutting themselves off to go to a play when the play started. Th...

What To Watch For: Monday Night Denver vs. Tennessee
2007-11-17 05:22:00 I've been out of town since Monday, so my prep (for our game against TENN) is later than usual. Before I get started I want to give a couple of shout outs for two terrific articles I read at Milehighreport.com when I got home. Everything I read at MHR is high quality, and I love the opportunity to interact with authors (something you can't do at most sports media sites). Because of my long absense I missed the chance to jump in on the conversation on the article by MattR "In The Year 2000 (and 10)". It was based on a diary I wrote, and MattR took it the extra mile and did a slam dunk job. Great job! Also, Styg50 did some terrific opposition research on TENN in his article "On The Radar: Tennessee Titans". I'm going to steal a point he makes, to wit: Denver's match-up problem with a no-huddle approach that TENN likes to use from time to time. Let's get on to business. We'll break down the Xs and Os and create a game plan for both teams, then ...

2007-11-14 00:01:00 @ Date: Monday, November 19, 2007 Time: 6:30 p.m. MST Teams: Tennessee Titans (6-3, Tied for 2nd in AFC South) at Denver Broncos (4-5, Tied for 2nd in AFC West) Location: Invesco Field @ Mile High - Denver, CO Titans are coming off a downer game in JAX, losing 28-13 and giving up 168 yards rushing and 3 rushing TDs. A win, coupled with INDY's loss would have put them in a tie for first, but as it is they simply had a 3 game winning streak broken. Their defense has been playing tremendously lately, though they suffered a letdown in the JAX game. Ranked 4th against the rush and 7th against the pass, the Titans will come to Denver as the #2 Defense in the AFC. No small potatoes there. Our offense should have its work cut out for it. After spending much of the season with a WR corp in much the same shape as ours, the Titans are finally fielding all their starters....
