The Longest Mock Draft in NFL History Continues... I?ve been a little slow getting these things out recently. Not to make excuses, but I've had a few personal situations over the last week and just haven?t had the drive to spit these things out. Hopefully, now that everything is kind of behind me, I can start shooting the rest of the picks out in rapid-fire mode. After all, the real draft is just around the corner! Pick No. 24: Tennessee TitansI?ve made no bones about the fact that I think Vince Young is overrated. He isn?t a great passer, in the NFL he can be contained, and he doesn?t throw or score touchdowns. His production numbers were so bad ...
In The Red Zone: Are Patriots Pacman Jonesing?
2008-03-22 15:00:00
Two weeks ago we reported that the New England Patriots had some possible interest in suspended Tennessee Titans cornerback Adam “Pacman” Jones along with several other teams. I even mentioned in the comments for the post that I thought it was a case of the Patriots brass, Scott Pioli and Bill Belichick, doing their due diligence in the situation. Well now it has apparently turned out that New England, along with Dallas and Detroit, may actually be doing more than just kicking the tires. John Tomase of the Boston Herald has a quote from Jones agent Manny Arora on the situation. “Tennessee has said publicly that they’re considering all their options, including a trade. If Tennessee decides there is going to be a trade, New England would be a very good fit for us. The reason for that is great leadership, strong coaching and a winning tradition.” “Over my years representing athletes and being a lawyer, as long as you’re winning, all the baggage...

In The Red Zone: Patriots Considering Pacman
2008-03-09 02:00:00
The New England Patriots are reportedly interested in Tennessee Titans cornerback/suspended bad boy Adam “Pacman” Jones. Detroit, Oakland, Kansas City, Houston, New Orleans and Dallas are among those to also have expressed at least some level of interest. Jones, who was suspended all of last season, could come up for review for re-instatement prior to the NFL Draft in April. Jones who was the 6th overall pick in the 2005 draft is considered a top cover corner and is an extremely dangerous punt returner. But he is becoming more well known for his off field behavior than his actions on Sundays. He’s been arrested six times since being drafted by the Titans and was at the center of a Las Vegas strip club melee in February 2007 that left a man paralyzed. He’s currently serving three years probation, stemming from an incident in Fayette County, Ga., where he was alleged to have bitten a police officer’s hand. So the questions begs to be asked. Does “Pa...
Breaking News: Patriots Sign Tank Williams
2008-03-05 23:00:00
The Minneapolis Star-Tribune is reporting that the New England Patriots have signed safety Tank Williams to a one-year deal. The contract terms were not disclosed. Williams played with the Minnesota Vikings for the past two seasons. He spent the first four years of his career in a Tennessee Titans uniform. I’d have to think that with this signing, the Patriots do not anticipate re-signing Eugene Wilson.

TE Alge Crumpler has a two year deal with the Tennessee Titans for which the terms aren’t available yet. DE Bobby McCray signed a five-year contract with the New Orleans Saints, terms were not disclosed. The Chicago Bears traded QB Brian Griese to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers it will be his second go around with John Gruden’s team. The Pittsburgh Steelers signed QB Ben Roethlisberger to an 8-year $102 million contract extension with $36 million in guarantees. Excuse me while I call my new friend Ben. The New York Giants signed S Sammy Knight no terms were released. Two days ago it was reported that the Miami Dolphins had signed Calvin Pace but something must have fallen apart somewhere and now the New York Jets signed LB Calvin Pace to a 6-year $42 million contract with $22 million in guarantees and RT Damien Woody, a former Patriot, to a 5-year $25.5 million contract with $11 million guaranteed. The Atlanta Falcons released RB Warrick Dunn one day after signing “The B...

2007 NFL Playoff Predictions: Wildcard Round
2007-12-31 21:31:00
I am in no place to start making new predictions since my horrible failure with the “New England Patriots thing”, but I’m a glutton for punishment. Is It Too Early To Confirm Vince Young?s Madden Curse?

@       Date: Monday, November 19, 2007 Time: 6:30 p.m. MST Teams: Tennessee Titans (6-3, Tied for 2nd in AFC South) at Denver Broncos (4-5, Tied for 2nd in AFC West) Location: Invesco Field @ Mile High - Denver, CO          Titans are coming off a downer game in JAX, losing 28-13 and giving up 168 yards rushing and 3 rushing TDs.  A win, coupled with INDY's loss would have put them in a tie for first, but as it is they simply had a 3 game winning streak broken.  Their defense has been playing tremendously lately, though they suffered a letdown in the JAX game.  Ranked 4th against the rush and 7th against the pass, the Titans will come to Denver as the #2 Defense in the AFC.  No small potatoes there.  Our offense should have its work cut out for it.  After spending much of the season with a WR corp in much the same shape as ours, the Titans are finally fielding all their starters....

Corey Simon Retires
2007-10-26 02:04:00
Former Colts defensive tackle Corey Simon retired from the NFL today after trying to resume his career with the Tennessee Titans. He says practice and games started wearing on his body again.Simon was sidelined by Indianapolis last year on the non-football illness/injury list and confirmed that he had dealt with polyarthritis in 2006. He signed with Tennessee on August 28th and played in 4 of the Titans' six games. But he says recovering from each game and practice finally became too much. The 30-year-old Simon says he tried to continue as long as he could, but the pain was telling his body it was time to leave football.Simon was the sixth overall pick in the 2000 draft by Philadelphia. He played five seasons there and 13 games for Indianapolis in 2005, registering 32 career sacks and 312 tackles.>>WaneTVCorey was once a premier talent in the league, but has not had a sack since leaving the Eagles. This is really a pretty sad ending for Corey.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers BEAT the Tennessee Titans 13-10
2007-10-15 05:22:00
The Bucs beat the Titans 13-10 thanks to a game winning drive by QB Jeff Garcia and a game winning Field Goal from K Matt Bryant to improve to (4-2) on the season; matching their entire amount of Wins from the previous season. That's about all of the insight I can give you into the game as FOX DID NOT TELEVISE THE GAME IN MY NECK OF THE WOODS. I'm pretty pissed off about it, but there's nothing I can do. I can't afford NFL Sunday Ticket at this stage in my life. FOX decided to televise Pro Bull Riding instead ....... Give me a friggon break. Nothing against Professional Bull Riders, but watching that on television is akin to watching Soccer, simply put it sucks; its boring ..... to ..... me. Being that I can't really offer an opinion on the on field performance, all I can do is talk about the stat sheet from ESPN. Um, Rookie Defensive End Gaines Adams had the first Sack of his career/season, so yea that's great (I would have liked to see it, as it took a while). Apparently CB...

Gameday Thread: Tampa Bay Buccaneers VS Tennessee Titans
2007-10-14 18:58:00
Our Bucs take on the Tennessee Titans today at 1:00pm est time. This is yet another w e a k little gameday thread. I'm on my cell phone travelin' from Orlando back home. Halloween Horror Nights was pretty entertaining ..... you should definitely make the trip, but invest in the express pass, we suffered by not doing it. So apparently the Bucs feel they have enough RB depth as of right now as they released Rookie RB Kenneth Darby yesterday. They'll probably re-assign him to the Practice Squad if no other team claims him off waivers. They have promoted RB Lionel Gates in his place. Darby must have pissed somebody off in the organization or he had to of gained 50 pounds since the Pre-Season, because he looked pretty impressive in the Pre-Season and now he's being replaced by Lionel Gates, yuck! Back to todays game ...... I wouldn't say its a MUST WIN Game, but its pretty dang important. Another loss would put us at (3-3) having lost two of the last three ball games. Our season ...

Buffalo Bills vs. Tennessee Titans - Open Game Thread
2007-08-25 01:25:00
17 vs 28 FINAL SCORE Game Preview :: Music City Miracles Update [2007-8-24 22:3:53 by Brian G]: This one has gone final. The Bills drop a 28-17 decision to fall to 1-2 this pre-season. There were players that played well and players who were downright awful. I've got plenty of notes, but unfortunately won't be able to turn those into anything meaningful until tomorrow afternoon. Thanks to everyone who came out to chat tonight, and be sure to tune back tomorrow afternoon for a full recap of the game. Update [2007-8-24 21:49:32 by Brian G]: Fred Jackson looked mighty impressive on that drive. He was the only true offense, with a few yards being picked up by Edwards on a scramble. The kid runs hard and it paid off with his second touchdown of the pre-season. Update [2007-8-24 21:27:16 by Brian G]: Tennessee opens up the fourth quarter with a missed field goal. Bills take over; my guess is that Trent Edwards will be entering the game now. Update [2007-8-2...
Fantasy Football Tips - Tennessee Titans ADP
2007-08-24 17:49:00
With many fantasy experts expecting Titans' QB Vince Young to be a Top 10 QB, and I believe Chris Liss of Rotowire has him Top 5, I decided to take a look at how the regular fantasy football community is valuing not only Vince Young, but his supporting cast. If Young is going to move into the Top 10, he is going to have some coattails and bring a teammate or two with him. Based on Percent Drafted (%D), WR Brandon Jones (47.4%) and TE Ben Troupe (25.2%) are the favorites over TE Bo Scaife (12%) and WR Eric Moulds (3.5%). According to K.C. Joyners Scs% statistic, Eric Moulds had the best rate amongst 66 WR qualifiers in 2006 with a 79.7% catch rate. I'd take Jones over him if given the option, but Moulds ability to catch what is thrown to him may temper Jones' yardage totals. At TE, Troupe is the better known name, but there is no way I would select ahead of Scaife - Young's TE at Texas in 2005. Joyner's Scientific Footabll 2007 expects more from Scaife as do the KUBIAK projectio...
Commissioner Roger Goodell Visits Titans Training Camp

USC's Pete Caroll On ND's Charlie Weis: "He's A Jerk" - Also Dishes On Norm
2007-07-09 01:39:00
I just returned from the local Gold's Gym in Oakland where I work out and ran into a friend who's a big USC fan, alumn, and donor, on top of being a big exec at a national retailer. Since I'm a Cal fan, we've had a few nice ribbing sessions. The point being, she's got know reason to make up what I'm about to report, asked the questions herself, and when I asked her if she would mind that I blog this, her response was "go ahead."So that's what I'm doing. On May 22nd, my friend attended a USC Alumni event in Southern California where USC Football Coach Pete Carroll was the featured guest. After an evening of drinks and food, there was a question and answer session with Coach Carroll. I proded her to tell me about it while we were streching, and so after some consistent coaxing, she did.She said that she and Coach Carroll got along famously well "I think he seemed to like me," she said. "Oh, did I tell you what he said about Charlie Weis?" No, was my response, and she he...
Titans' Pacman Jones Accepts 1 Year NFL Suspension
2007-06-13 18:30:00
Titans' Jones Accepts NFL SuspensionBy DAVE GOLDBERGAP Football WriterNEW YORK -- Adam "Pacman" Jones dropped his appeal of a yearlong suspension Tuesday, pledging to repair an image that made the Tennessee Titans cornerback the poster child for NFL misconduct. His decision came after a third meeting with commissioner Roger Goodell."I understand my responsibilities to my teammates, the Titans and my fans and I am committed to turning my life around and being a positive member of the NFL," Jones said in a statement issued by newly hired agent Michael Huyghue.Jones was suspended after 10 encounters with police and five arrests since he was drafted in 2005."Last week, I asked for an opportunity to meet privately with commissioner Goodell," Jones said. "I met with him earlier today to tell him about the steps I have taken to change my life since being suspended by the NFL. I accept the discipline that's been imposed on me and I am withdrawing my appeal."Neither the NFL nor the Titans c...
Mutual Interest Between Titans & Keyshawn Johnson
2007-05-18 17:16:00
Mutual Interest Between Titans, KeyshawnBy TERESA M. WALKERAP Sports WriterNASHVILLE, Tenn. -- The Tennessee Titans need an experienced receiver to help Vince Young, and said Thursday they are interested in veteran Keyshawn Johnson. "There's mutual interest I'd say right now," coach Jeff Fisher said. "I think we'll probably look into the possibility of pursuing things. Where that goes, I can't tell you."Johnson will visit the Titans on Friday. His relationship with Fisher goes back to Southern California, when the coach played for the Trojans and Johnson was a ball boy."I know Jeff, but I don't know the organization and I don't know the makeup of the team and the coaching staff. I know a little bit about Norm Chow. I know Norm from college. At the same time, I want to make sure everything's the right fit," Johnson said."I was in a situation last year I thought was the right situation, and wind up a year later going in another direction. I want to make sure it's something eve...
