The Arsenal players are starting to enjoy themselves
2008-09-22 09:21:00
Well, wasn’t that just an absolutely stupendous weekend? I thought Liverpool and Chelsea would both win but after the pair failed to take maximum points and Arsenal served up a 3-1 victory over Bolton it is our boys who sit on top of the league. And don’t they just deserve it? The performance against Bolton was ...
Young Guns, Old Guns And New Guns
2008-07-20 16:29:00
Starting with the young guns, they put in a pretty good performance yesterday beating Barnet 2-1 in the first friendly of the season. Aaron Ramsey and Jack Wiltshire both put in classy performances with Ramsey controlling much of the play in the first half with positive forward runs and creative passing before a host ...
Rosicky To Miss Start Of Season
2008-07-19 11:50:00
Well this is right out of left field. I think a more surprising story would have been ‘Rosicky to play some part in the season’. This is what the man himself had to say: “I know I’ll miss the start of the club season,” he told Czech daily Sport. “According to plans I should be back on ...
The Re-Hash
2008-07-18 11:08:00
I’m sure that the Goonerblog readers will agree with me that there is nothing more annoying than the same story being re-hashed day after day untill there is actually some real news to report. It’ll also come as no big surprise that the story I am talking about is the rumoured interest in Gareth Barry, ...
Wenger?s Choice
2008-07-17 12:25:00
A low key start to the day today, and with the Hleb story still dominating i’ve decided that i should never have to say the man’s name again. So with that in mind if there is ever any need, he shall, from this moment forward, be referred to as Splinter and nothing else people! If you ...
Invisible Wall And Invisible Enthusiasm
2008-07-16 09:58:00
It would seem that Gilberto will be departing the club this summer and heading to Panathinaikos after six years of being the “invisible wall” in the Gooner midfield. There has been constant speculation since his place came under threat from the emergence of Flamini. “Greek sports radio Station Sport FM claims that the Brazil international will ...
Quotes, Interest And A Warrior.
2008-07-15 19:40:00
Well there’s nothing groundbreaking to report for you Gooner fans today, a sneaky phone call is probably the biggest news of the day. According to Martin O’Neill, Pat Rice made a call to check how things were going with the Liverpool deal and to drop a suggestion that Arsenal maybe interested in the services of Garteth ...
?The Iceman Cometh?
2008-07-12 16:25:00
Here at Goonerblog we decided it’s been too long since we have been able to drool over the majestic talents of Arsenal legend Dennis Bergkamp. The man who made Nikos Dabizas his unwitting assistant in one of the most magical goals in history against Newcastle and whose cheeky chips where nothing more than his bread ‘n’ ...

While nothing can beat the World Cup for spectacle and colourthe European Championships has a tendency toproduce abetter quality of football and matches in general. This latest edition should be ...

The Arsenal Board Betrays Our Trust - Where were the Opponents?
2008-02-08 14:51:00
To be totally truthful, today I did not want to write the blog at all. Doing the round of newsfeeds like we all do, today was one of those days where you feel so betrayed, so angry, so…totally lost and bereft of hope that blogging felt nigh on impossible. ...

The Arsenal Story set to be Flaminified
2008-01-25 11:26:00
As we all wait for the dust to settle after the ever-falling fallout from the Carling Cup, Arsenal are suddenly hit with some rather pomp and proper good news - some of it involving people getting leniently off the hook, and a certain midfielder giving some very good vibes off with wink-of-the-eye hints. ...

New look for the Arsenal FC Blog
2007-09-11 17:16:00
Things have been pretty quiet on the blog in the last few days and that has mainly been due to the fact that there has been nothing to talk about. The international break has been the reason for a rather boring week, although it did see some of the Arsenal players putting in some excellent performances ...

The BBC reported the news that Wenger had signed a three year extension to his contract yesterday and it has now been confirmed by Arsenal.com. If Arsene stays until the end of this contract in 2011 (he has never broken one yet) it will make him Arsenals longest ever serving manager. I don’t think many ...

2007-09-01 14:04:00
And we all thought it was Beveren. Having seen Diarra play for Chelsea a number of times I have always been impressed with the player. Since we missed out on signing him from Le Harve to Chelsea in the first place it seems Wenger has finally got his man. Natural successor to Gilberto? Maybe. Do we ...

Halo 3 adds Flamethrowers and Incendiary Grenades to the arsenal!
2007-08-11 19:02:00
It turns out that the boys at Bungie as they said have a bunch of little things coming to Halo 3 that haven't been announce to date, that their holding out on till release date. Well 2 of those little features have finally hit the streets, the long awaited flamethrower that missed Halo 1 and Halo 2 due to balancing issues and time constraints in fine tuning it is finally going to rear its beautiful self. But this won't be a standard little flame thrower from doom, no this baby's going to be a turret style weapon, with a limited ammo count of 9 three second bursts, as with the other big boy guns in halo 3 you can rip them off the turret and man handle this massive weapon. But here's the really interesting part, we're nota talking just 9 little bursts, we're talking a whopping 44 foot range of massive flames. But guess what? That's not the only little secret to finally get released, it appears they are also announcing that mysterious 4th grenade set, the one that some Halo ...
One-Nil to the Arsenal
2007-08-05 17:32:00
Arsenal has clinched another pre-season trophy after a 1-0 win against Ajax. Robin Van Persie scored the 87th minute winner in a physical game which never looked like a pre-season friendly. Both teams wanted to win the match desperately and there was certainly many tackles flying around.RvP in particular was target to some rough tackles from the Ajax players. He looked like he picked up an injury after he was stretchered off the pitch after a late challenge, just minutes after his goal. But to everyones relief he came back to celebrate the win.I feel the team should be prepared for the rough treatment which it'll face in most of the league matches and this friendly gave the players a chance to show that they are capable of countering that approach. Van Persie escpecially will be targeted this season after Henry's departure. After all he our main man after Henry left. After the match Van persie spoke about how Freddie Ljunberg wasn't exactly being nice after he left the club.Robin...
Stan Kroenke loves the Arsenal Board
2007-07-20 12:21:00
Rumors say that Stan Kroenke is getting ready to table a bid to takeover Arsenal. They say that a bid worth £650m is going to tabled by Kroenke and former DoF David dean. And he wants to discuss with the board about it.His chief marketing officer says,"Mr Kroenke is a 12 per cent owner, he holds a significant stake in the club and he now looks forward to meeting the other board members. It is an investment. Mr Kroenke has invested in Arsenal and is very excited about it. He has been meeting with the people from Arsenal for the past year and a half and he’s very fond of the way they run their business operation. He’s very bullish about it".Looking for ward to meet the board. huh..? If he does table a bid, Arsenal should definitely trash it because we definitely don't want to add to our existing debts. While Manchester United may be spending staggering amounts in transfer market, their debts are also staggeringly high. And most importantly, Mr. Kroenke isn't he...

By Spanish Fry When Arsene Wenger took charge of the Arsenal Football Club in October 2006 he was relatively unknown in the English football community. Robin Van Persie Injury Could Keep Him Out Of The Arsenal Team For More Tha
2007-01-23 21:57:01
Arsene Wenger has told the Arsenal website that he will be deprived of the services of striker Robin Van Persie. The forward suffered the most fashionable of injuries, a broken metatarsal as he scored Arsenal?s equaliser against Manchester United on Sunday. The injury is similar to that suffered by Wayne Rooney before the World Cup last year. It will be a huge blow for Wenger and his team as they play North London Rivals Tottenham in the Carling Cup semi-final and resume their Champions League activity while Van Persie recovers. Van Persie has been an integral part of Arsenal?s season scoring some sensational goals, his absence could be detrimental to Arsenal?s campaign to secure Champions League football next season.
