2007-03-03 00:22:00 Welcome the Night is The Ataris' fifth studio album and long delayed follow-up to the previous release So Long, Astoria. It was originally scheduled to be released in 2005 but the release date had been pushed back to 2007 due to the inner dissipation of the band's now former label Columbia records. In late 2006 the band were finally granted release from their contract allowing them to start their own label isola recordings, partnering with Sanctuary Records group, home to such artists as Morrissey, Tegan and Sara and Iron Maiden. Formed in 1995, the band originally consisted of singer/songwriter/guitarist Kristopher Roe and guitarist Jasin Thomason.
