So when the CW came to the Mississippi River town to cast its own farm-based version of “The Bachelor,” farmer Matt signed on. “I had filled out an application for ‘The Bachelor’ four years ago,” says Matt, 29. “It was pretty much a joke. I forgot about it. But then I got a call from a casting director.” The college-educated farmer, who won’t use his last name on the show, is the proud and successful hayseed who shows female city slickers the ropes in the CW’s “Farmer Wants A Wife,” which premieres April 30 at 9 p.m. Ten city girls were flown in for a month last July to see if they would be compatible with Matt, tractors, bingo night and life without Starbucks.
