2008-04-27 04:25:00 It was 1978, and the great era of rock and roll of the late 60's and early 70's had just ended. After a dismal few years, new bands were creating punk rock and New Wave music, and the band in my novel played it all.Ronnie, the guitarist, was a great fan of Eric Clapton, Keith Richard, Jimi Hendrix, Jerry Garcia, Neil Young and Jimmy Page; while Charlie, the drummer, and Dom, the bassist were fans of the new music from Slade, Cheap Trick, The Sex Pistols and the New York Dolls. Together, they mixed classic rock, New Wave, punk and originals with a bluesy, alternative and heavy guitar, bass and drum sound. And it all seemed to go through a Doors prism.Today we would find bands like Green Day and the White Stripes performing this kind of music. But of course back then, it wasn't retro. It was still new.

What a way to erase the lingering thoughts of last years colossal collapse, swept by the Braves and falling apart on opening day to the Phillies. Great way to usher out Shea..Moyer a pitcher who had an ERA of 5.01 and has started this year with an ERA 7.36. What did the Mets offense do against him, in six innings two runs on four hits and three walks. The team started off well taking an 0-2 lead on a solo homer by Delgado and an RBI by Church. But this team just as it did all of last year can't get clutch hits or stay in any type of groove. I've heard many fans say that they've been unlucky hitting but I feel it's a lack of execution. Aubrey and Donnie go on there first date and all seems so well especially since the night was ended with a sweet kiss. However, right after the date with Aubrey the guys decide to go out with a group of ladies together...boys will be boys. Now everything would have been okay if Qwanell had not called Dawn to come join them at dinner, who happens to bring Aubrey along. Basically poor Donnie was set up and is definitely about to take a fall and he's the butt of everyone's joke. I'm not sure who I felt worse for Donnie or his date. All in all it's a really shady deal and starts to cause tension between the guys...I think it's hilarious that these guys have...
