"The Bus Report"
2007-08-21 03:00:00
In early 2006, my brothers and I were asked by our bus director if we would help in our church's bus ministry. Our church runs seven different bus routes picking up adults and kids throughout our city and surrounding cities as well. That next Sunday, we had the opportunity to work on Bus #3 and have been on it since. Since that time, I've seen God work many miracles through different ones that ride our bus each Sunday. It's such a blessing to see the Lord change a person's life and put new desires in their heart. I want to thank the Lord for allowing me to be a part of this exciting ministry. Lord willing, each Monday's post will be devoted to "The Bus Report" where I will give the latest updates on Bus #3 happenings, any upcoming events, as well as other bus related articles. Be sure to come back each week for bus ministry tips, special promotions, bus blessings, prayer requests, book reviews etc.Glad to be on Bus #3!Joshua
Music & Taxi rides over the busy weekend

I haven’t been blogging since I have been busy. We have been complaining alot about taxi drivers right? Look what I’ve found. To sum it up, a taxi driver whom we hope to see every other day. This morning I served up another commendation message, to Citycab. It was a short note, but I hope ...

Notebook For The Business User
2007-08-17 20:46:00
Notebook is a fantastic business tool, especially since modern businesses requires global accessibility which means, for many, a lot of travel. The notebook is designed to provide optimum technical performance whilst being compact, transportable and user friendly. However, the intended use of the device will affect which type is right for you. Many people are surprised to find that the notebook of their choice does not quite work to their advantage as expected. If used solely for business then the device chosen needs to be able to deal with a high level of information, produce reports, have internet access and be compact and portable. These are standard features, but the shape, size and built in attachments can affect the productivity. The notebook is only an effective tool if it meets the requirements of its user.If the notebook needs to be mobile for business trips then weight is certainly an issue. The larger the screen chosen then the larger the device in general. This will make...

The French, by and large, take all their holidays between July 14th and August 18th (ie the penultimate Saturday in August). For one thing, just about everywhere is running at full capacity right up to August 18th and then all of a sudden they ...
The Bust Report: Wide Receivers Part Two
2007-08-14 13:24:00
This is the continuation of our two-part examination of the biggest fantasy football busts at the WR position last year. In case you missed it, in Part One we took a look at Santana Moss and Jerry Porter. This time, we'll look back on the performances of Randy Moss, Michael Clayton, and Chris Chambers. We'll also look ahead to see what 2007 has in store for these '06 busts.Randy MossIt was just Bust-a-rama for the Oakland Raiders last season. Jordan, Porter, Moss. We won't even get into Aaron Brooks. But 2007 is looking up for Randy. In the biggest off-season deal, Moss was sent packing to the New England Patriots. Moss managed only 553 receiving yards on a meager 42 catches in 2006, playing in just 13 games. He was hampered by injuries all season long. Combine that with the Raiders' offense complete inability to move the ball and Randy's bizarre mood swings and it's no wonder he was a bust. Now, however, it seems that he has found new life in New England. Brady to Moss, on p...
The Bust Report: Wide Receivers Part One
2007-08-13 03:53:00
Welcome back to The Bust Report, where we breakdown the biggest fantasy football busts of 2006 and tell you what to expect from them in 2007. This week, we will examine five wide receivers that had brutal seasons last year. We provide such in-depth analysis that we have to break it into two parts.Just what does the coming season hold for the first two contestants on The Bust Report? Let's take a look...Santana MossHe played hurt quite a bit last year, causing him to miss two games and all but disappear in a few others. Moss is hampered by the fact that there are no other Skins receiver for secondaries to concern themselves with. But, he was able to rack up over 1,400 yards in 2005 in practically the same situation. (The WR with the second most yards for Washington that year was David Patten, with 217). If Moss is healthy, the keys to his production are RB Clinton Portis and QB Jason Campbell. If Portis is healthy, defenses key on him, enabling the elusive Moss to rack up big numbe...

More lies from the Bush administration: U.S. Readies Tough Rules on Employe
2007-08-08 04:36:00
All I will say is that I will believe it when I see it. Until then I do not believe for a second that the Bush administration is serious about controlling our borders. In addition, anyone that does believe that really needs to put the crack pipe down. The only reason I can see that they are pushing this patently ridiculous show of force is because the Republican Party has pressured them to. They have to know that the only chance they have of becoming completely irelevant in '08 is by forcing Bush to back off on his open borders bullshit. ~RJH New York Times article link U.S. Readies Tough Rules on Employers of Immigrants By JULIA PRESTONIn a new effort to crack down on illegal immigrants, federal authorities are expected to announce tough rules this week that would require employers to fire workers who use false Social Security numbers.Officials said the rules would be backed up by stepped-up raids on workplaces across the country that employ illegal immigrants. After first propo...
Fresh Off the Bus

Actor Donovan Keith, who I've forced to do a series of humiliating acts on (and off) stage in the year that I've known him, has just moved to Los Angeles. Donovan is so sweet and innocent that he really is like Heather Graham's character in Bowfinger?she's a wide-eyed Midwestern girl who steps off a bus in Hollywood and asks the nearest passerby, "Where do I go to become an actress?"Donovan, of course, has more savvy than that, but I don't want to believe it. (I like 'em young and dumb, remember?) He's blogging about his adventures in L.A. in what will prove to be a fascinating document of Hollywood actor culture. He's also gearing the blog to be a resource for other wide-eyed talent setting their sites on the big show. Will the blog end up being an optimistic paean about the struggles but ultimate victories of following your dreams or a bleary examination about an artist's descent into madness and ruthlessness? We will not know for sure until at least six months from now. ...

Mysteries of the bus
2007-07-30 18:45:00
As I boarded the bus the other morning, I saw the scene at left: a woman seated with a "Congrats!" balloon so large that she had to turn her face to the side to make room for it. I wondered: did someone give her this balloon -- was this burdensome prize hers? Or was she bringing it to work, to give to someone else? What do you think? She gave the balloon to someone else, after the bus ride.Someone (husband?) gave it to her that morning.A stranger randomly gave her the balloon as she boarded the bus. It's hers; she just carries it around as an accessory.  pollcode.-com free pollsSpeaking of the bus, as the Seattle Weekly has recently pointed out, bus drivers have a tough job.Tags: bus driver balloon mystery Seattle
Vamos A la Playa - with the bus after Canoa
2007-07-30 11:18:00
The morning bus drives without us to Canoa. I divide the bed with montezuma and its revenge can be dreadful. So that the life can continue, I take from the bring along Madikamenten. It works already soon and I can rise, we reserves a DZ with Bado Privado in the Coconut , the partner hotel our Hostals and takes the night bus direction Canoa. When the bus out-spits us many hours later in the middle at the night in San Vincente, we find immediately a taxi, which wants to bring us for 5$ after Canoa into our hotel. Only the word Coconut does not cause a positive reaction with our driver. Thus krame I in our travel guide, until I find a visiting card of the hotel. Aaaaahhhh Kokonutt . It knows that. As we come drauf the names English to also express, we are in the Spanish linguistic area. After a rapid travel by the night the taxi before totally dark house stops. But one can hear the sea rush. Before we give money to the driver and it disappears, look for I first times a receipt. I do ...

The Bust Report: Byron Leftwich
2007-07-26 02:00:00
Continuing in our series examining the biggest fantasy football busts of 2006, we take a look at underachieving Jaguars QB Byron Leftwich's potential fantasy impact in 2007...Has there been an NFL quarterback in the last five years quite like Byron Leftwich? Every pre-season, it seems, he's labeled as a player on the verge of a breakthrough season. He has all the tools, they say. He's even had a fairly talented supporting cast around him--Jimmy Smith (until last year), speedster Reggie Williams, a hard-nose defense to keep him in games, and a back that can run the ball (and catch it) in Fred Taylor. Add in promising youngsters Maurice Jones-Drew and Matt Jones, and it's clear that his teammates are not holding him back, it's his body.We all remember the clip of his Marshall University teammates carrying a hobbled Leftwich to the line of scrimmage so he could lead the Thundering Herd to victory. Those images made us think of him as the ultimate competitor, willing to withstand e...

Business Roundtable, an association of 160 chief executive officers of leading U.S. companies, today announced a new policy statement on climate change, acknowledging that climate change poses a serious risk and that the time for action is now. After reviewing the science, the policy statement concludes that "the consequences of global warming for society and ecosystems are potentially serious and far-reaching" and that "steps to address the risks of such warming are prudent now even while the science continues to evolve." SLAs continued: Define the business service
2007-07-17 16:34:00
July 17, 2007 In my previous blog entry on June 18th I began talking about defining SLAs. Here I continue that conversation. When you define an SLA, there are two steps - the first is to break your distributed application into discrete components, and the second is to define acceptable performance levels for each component. While the first step is usually straightforward, (SQL on one server, IIS on another, SMTP on a third server, etc.) the second step can be more difficult. The Longitude SLA has three levels of performance – acceptable, degraded, and unacceptable. Degraded is actually a subclass of acceptable; while an application is degraded, it is still technically performing acceptably, just not optimally. These three levels of service are incorporated into SLAs when you define the compliance information – there is a “Required percent of time in acceptable state” (which is acceptable plus degraded), and “Required percent of time in good state” (...
The Bust Report: LaMont Jordan
2007-07-17 13:05:00
The Bust Report is a series dedicated to the biggest busts of 2006. We'll examine what brought about their fall from grace, and predict what might happen in 2007. Has this player's value been damaged irreparably? Or can they now be considered a sleeper? This week, The Bust Report takes a look at LaMont Jordan. Jordan burst onto the scene as a starter in Oakland in 2005. In that year, he racked up 1,025 rushing yards and 9 rushing scores. These stats were nice. Not amazing in any way, but nice. It was his 70 receptions for 593 yards and two more TDs that made him an even more attractive pick-up for fantasy owners. In anticipation of an improved 2006 season, Jordan was became a late-first-round pick in many leagues. At worst, he was a second round pick, predicted to be a solid second option at the running back position. However, the bottom fell out for Jordan and his team, and after suffering an injury, he started only 9 games. And in those 9 games, he was less than stellar, ...
Republican Sentator: The Bush Administration ?F?ed up? the War
2007-07-16 20:02:00
Comes as a big, fat, late, "duh" from most of us Progressive bloggers, but still shocking when a GOP big-wig senator admits this truth, using the F-word in all its infamy to describe the way the White House handled the War Against Iraq (WAG, effectively, as in Wag the Dog). The profanity-spewing senator in question? George Voinovich of Ohio. The context was that Voinovich was warning Karl The-Architect-of-the-Illegal-Wa-r Rove that Bush needed to be concerned about his legacy, ?unless he can come up with a plan that protects the troops and stabilizes the region.? Notable Republican senators have been noisily defecting from the president's side on the Iraq issue in recent weeks. But how many Republican senators does it take to screw in a lightbulb, er, draft a get-out-of-Iraq now plan? Stay tuned, for as Voinovich so ignominiously pointed out, "the fur is going to start to fly." (I would have said, "the fur is fixin' to fly" because it rolls off the tongue better and because I'm a ...

A question for the Bush/Cheney cabal
2007-07-12 06:00:00
Why and how did you let this happen? The Return of Al QaedaA new National Intelligence Estimate raises concerns that the terrorist group is growing stronger. A new National Intelligence Estimate presents a sobering analysis of terrorism threats to the United States, concluding that Al Qaeda has reconstituted its core structure along the Pakistani border and may now be a stronger and more resilient organization today than it appeared a year ago, according to three U.S. intelligence officials familiar with the draft document. So Mr Bush, Mr Cheney, why has this happened after billions of dollars and thousands of deaths? Steve Soto has more.
The Bush Legacy
2007-07-08 07:11:00
The sooner Bush is impeached, the sooner his legacy will be irrefutable to even the most diehard Bushie loyalist. Frank Rich sums up The Shrub's legacy in the title of today's Times op ed: "A Profile in Cowardice." As always, Rich's op ed is a "must read."A Profile in CowardiceBy Frank RichThe New York TimesTHERE was never any question that President Bush would grant amnesty to Scooter Libby, the man who knows too much about the lies told to sell the war in Iraq. The only questions were when, and how, Mr. Bush would buy Mr. Libby’s silence. Now we have the answers, and they’re at least as incriminating as the act itself. They reveal the continued ferocity of a White House cover-up and expose the true character of a commander in chief whose tough-guy shtick can no longer camouflage his fundamental cowardice. The timing of the president’s Libby intervention was a surprise. Many assumed he would mimic the sleazy 11th-hour examples of most recent vintage: his father’s pardon of six...
