The Cardinals Will Kick the Tires on Roy Halladay
2009-07-11 03:35:00
Cardinals sources confirmed to me this afternoon at Wrigley Field that they are interested in acquiring All Star pitcher Roy Halladay from the Toronto Blue Jays. Tonight the St. Louis Post Dispatch newspaper quotes Cardinals GM John Mozeliak on his interest in kicking the tires on a potential trade for Halladay. Should "Doc" Halladay end up in St. Louis you can print the playoff tickets in the Arch City because that will put them over the top in a very mediocre divisional race. The Cubs are 4 1/2 back after today's loss and unless they can turn things around the rest of the weekend you will find a team 7 1/2 back and fading when the dust settles on the...
Will the Cardinals defeat Steelers?
2009-02-01 22:35:00
Do you think that Arizona Cardinals will defeat Pittsburgh Steelers? I really don't know. No one can tell right now because the game is not over yet. There are chances that Pittsburgh Steelers will beat the Arizona Cardinals and there are also chances that Arizona Cardinals will beat the Pittsburgh Steelers. Let's all watch Super Bowl 2009 Live Stream and see who will win between these two champions! Both are so good, both are so clever, but let's wait and see what will happen this February 1, 2009 at Tamba Bay, Florida. This will be a very very exciting match and we're so excited to see the winner of this event!

The Titans and the Cardinals
2008-03-05 20:35:00
Those are two teams I am keeping an eye on for the next couple of days. For the Titans, it is because of talks with Julius Jones.  I already like watching the Titans because of Vince Young.   Heck, I liked them before V.Y. — I was a Houston Oilers fan growing up.   And, I’ve always like Julius.  I think it is the right decision for the Cowboys to feature The Barbarian next year, but I wish Julius all the luck in finding a prominent role on a new team. And, if he should sign with the Titans — and I think that it would be a great fit for him — it gives me all the reason to catch Titans games when I can. As for the Cardinals, I am simply keeping an eye on the Larry Fitzgerald situation.  As you can tell, the Cowboys haven’t exactly made a splash in free agency.  And that’s been a good thing for the most part — we’ve seen some mid-tier level players getting way overpaid.   But that doesn’t mean the Cowboys can’t make so...
How To Ruin A Quarterback: Why The Cardinals are Close to Setting Their Fra
2008-02-28 02:23:00

Just when most baseball fans probably thought Juan Gonzalez was long gone, he’s back. Proud owner of two AL MVP awards and a pair of home run titles, Gonzalez is in camp this spring with the St. Louis Cardinals, hoping to revive a career that many figured was over. “I feel like a rookie ...

2008-02-20 00:56:00
Juan Gonzalez has two MVP awards, two home run titles and one RBI crown. Yet he walked into the St. Louis Cardinals’ clubhouse with the excitement of a player half his age. “I feel like a rookie invited to big league camp after two years off,” the 38-year-old outfielder said Tuesday, the first day of ...
UConn Women Shoot Down the Cardinals
2008-01-13 01:18:00
The Louisville Cardinals tested the UConn women tonight but each time the Cardinals got close, the Huskies had an answer in their 92-71 win in front of a sold-out Freedom Hall in Louisville. Louisville (11-5, 0-3 Big East) had gotten the lead down to 10 points with about 6 minutes remaining in the game before Ketia ... Aside from the salary he can also earn $250,000 in performance bonuses: $50,000 each for 250, 300, 350, 400 and 450 plate appearances. Miles was acquired from the Colorado Rockies in December 2005.

Matt Clement and the St. Louis Cardinals agreed to a one-year deal. The contract is worth $1.5 million with a club option for 2009. According to John Mozeliak, Cardinal’s general manager, Clement is physically ready to pitch. He also said that clement can be a solid addition to their starting rotation.

Ryan Adams & The Cardinals - Follow The Lights EP 2007
2007-11-06 10:02:00
Ryan Adams & The Cardinals - Follow The Lights EP 2007 The steady, streamlined Easy Tiger was a sure sign that Ryan Adams was attempting to straighten up and play the game, but its quickly released EP follow-up, Follow the Lights, takes this self-conscious sobriety to a whole different level, as it finds Adams writing two songs for the ABC drama October Road, then rearranging three of his own songs to fit the same hazy, mellow vibe of his new tunes, adding the previously unreleased “Blue Hotel” and a cover of Alice in Chains’ “Down in a Hole” to the mix. This isn’t so much a sell-out as yet another one of Adams’ savvy genre exercises — the only difference is, here he’s gunning for the Grey’s Anatomy adult-alternative crossover market instead of crafting a tribute to the Smiths or Grateful Dead. Adams pulls it off, possibly because the abbreviated length of the EP is just enough time for him to dwell in one place without...
Ryan Adams and The Cardinals: Follow the Lights
2007-10-26 20:00:00
Ryan Adams and The Cardinals: Follow the LightsEarlier this year Ryan Adams released his ninth studio album Easy Tiger. Four months later he releases Follow the Lights, the follow up EP.The EP contains three new songs and four live studio recordings, including a cover of "Down in a Hole" by Alice in Chains. The EP is the perfect companion piece to Easy Tiger. It features slow plodding alt-country that could easily bore the listener into submission."This Is It" bares striking resemblance to Train's "Calling All Angels". The Alice in Chains' cover sounds completely uninspired. Perhaps the only worthwhile track on the EP is the song for which it is named "Follow the Lights".This EP just wraps up a disappointing year for Adams.Rating: 3.2/10MP3: Ryan Adams and the Cardinals "Down in a Hole"

This is your gameday open thread. This is your Redskins.com gameday page. This is your NFL dot com game center. This is your Curly R open thread. Let's hope this is a win. We're still out Randy Thomas, we're probably out Shawn Springs as he is attending to personal matters, and both Stephon Heyer and Marcus Washington are listed as questionable. Your projected starting offensive line is: Chris Samuels next to Pete Kendall next to Casey Rabach next to Rick DeMulling next to Jason Fabini. I don't know if Kurt warner will play but on NFL Sunday Countdown they said his elbow is a problem when handing off, though he might play in some shotgun formations. That makes him doubtful to start; Tim Rattay gets it. Another bit of breaking news from NFL Sunday Countdown, though John Clayton looks like a fetus, he gives about the best football analysis of anyone on that show. A win here is clutch; we face New England next week, almost certainly as many points dogs. A loss today puts us at 3-3,...

New Ryan Adams & The Cardinals EP Coming 10/23; Preview Audio Streams
2007-10-17 07:37:00
As Ryan & The Cardinals begin another long stretch of tour dates, they have also announced plans for a new EP to be released Oct 23 on Lost Highway Records. Follow The Lights is a seven song collection that includes both new and old compositions, several of which were recorded live in the studio this summer. The two new songs on the disc, ?Follow The Lights? and ?My Love For You Is Real? will both be featured prominently in this fall?s season of the ABC primetime drama ?October Road? (airing 10pm on Mondays). ?Follow The Lights? will also be used in bumpers leading up to the show?s season premiere on November 26th.Follow These Lights comes on the heels of Ryan?s latest full length album Easy Tiger, which has been widely recognized as some of his finest work to date. The Associated Press described it as ?the most cohesive and intricately arranged album [Adams] has ever made?, and Time called it ?a career breakthrough.? Since Easy Tiger?s release Ryan & The Cards have been on the ...
This Might Be a Bad Sign For the Cardinals
2007-10-16 08:52:00
If it seems like there’s stench of death emanating from the University of Phoenix Stadium, it’s not just because of the Cardinals recent play. Last week over 120 sycamores lining the team’s stadium suddenly died. Infertile soil. Inadequate irrigation. Summer heat, magnified by a sea of sweltering asphalt. Observers say it was a “perfect storm” that killed more than 120 sycamores ringing the Great Lawn just outside University of Phoenix Stadium. Now, in the midst of the Arizona Cardinals season and months before the dome hosts Super Bowl XLII, the landmark 8-acre tailgating area is without shade or aesthetic foliage. Some experts say that the death of the trees was a forgone conclusion because the climate around the stadium wasn’t right for them. I guess you could say it’s kind of like when a rebuilding team gives an aging running a huge contract despite the fact that he will be playing with a rookie quarterback and a young offensiv...
Breaking down the Cardinals win over the Steelers

Topsy-turvy. Parity. A hair shy. These are all qualities of life in the NFL and some of the reasons it has become my favorite sport. More often than not it is the small details that separate the winners from the losers. I would like to address some of the details of the Cardinals upset of the

Live Music: Ryan Adams and The Cardinals
2007-07-18 18:54:00
Here's Ryan Adams and The Cardinals performing "What Sin Replaces Love" on The Henry Rollins Show. "WSRL" was only a bonus track on "Jackson City Nights", even though it was good enough to be a single. The video is 9.5 minutes long, but the best stuff is from 2.5 minutes to 7.5 minutes.
Mike Maroth to Save the Cardinals
2007-06-22 19:32:00
So, Ken Rosenthal says the Cardinals acquired Mike Maroth. That's good. How exciting. He is holding opponets to a .947 OPS this year and has more walks than strikeouts. Not to mention his career .292 opponents batting average against. So he'll fit right in. Just put his locker right next to Kip Wells'. It's pretty disturbing when you're counting on a guy with a 5.06 ERA to improve your pitching staff. Excuse me while I go take a cold shower to calm myself down from the horror joy I am feeling right now.
Could The Cardinals Acquire Buehrle?
2007-06-12 20:44:00
Larry over at Viva El Birdos breaks down exactly how rare a trade of a pitcher of Mark Buehrle's caliber would be.  He also compares previous midseason deals for big-name starters to see what the Cardinals or any other team might have to send over to Chicago. Another marquee pitcher dealt midseason was Randy Johnson in 1998.  While the age 34 season is rarely considered a player's prime, the Unit didn't really establish himself until he was 26.  Anyway, that deal required a serious bounty of John Halama, Carlos Guillen, and Freddy Garcia.  Halama had a few useful seasons, Garcia became Seattle's ace, and Guillen developed into a star.  Guillen didn't break out until he joined the Tigers in '04, however.
Big Blow to the Cardinals
2007-05-06 03:53:00
The St. Louis Cardinals announced that their staff ace Chris Carpenter will undergo arthroscopic surgery and will miss at least three months of the season. The team announced Saturday that Carpenter, sidelined since starting opening day by an elbow injury, will undergo arthroscopic surgery to trim bone spurs that have caused persistent swelling. He's expected to be out at least three months after the team's medical staff conceded that a rehab plan that called for rest followed by a gradual pitch buildup wasn't working. source Yahoo Sports
Progs Says To Hell With the Cardinals Series and Instead Grades the Season
2007-04-23 02:56:00
At this point my friends, if the way this team has played so far is any indication of how the rest of the season will unfold, we can say with confidence that the alleged "spending spree" Hendry embarked upon for the Trib's last hurrah will amount to little more than the above photograph. Folks, this is not a very good baseball team. Compared to last season of course, the 2007 version of Losers Inc. is markedly better, quite possibly to the tune of 75-80 wins. But when your stated goal is to win and win often, and when your roster is built for short-term dividends at the cost of long-term gain, making a couple of strides forward over the previous year's disaster simply doesn't cut the mustard. For Hendry's plan to work, this team has to take a giant leap. And assuming what we currently see is what we will continue to get (with some room for the inevitible reversion to the mean for both hitting and pitching), then this grand illusion, that of this team trying to buy their way out...
The Cardinals have one weak ass line-up!
2007-04-02 12:24:00
The Cardinals have one weak ass line-up!       It?s only one game, so I?m not going to jump all over the Cards for their one run performance opening day. But when the line-up flashed during the bottom of the first on ESPN last night, I was left saying to myself ?what crap, these guys will be lucky ...
UCONN Women Turn The Cardinals Greene
2007-03-06 15:51:02
Kalana Greene led three UCONN Huskies in double figures on Monday night as they defeated the Louisville Cardinals 76-50 in the semifinals of the Big East Tournament in Hartford. Greene had 20 points on 10 of 13 shooting while Renee Montgomery added 14 points. Charde Houston had another double-double with 10 points and 15 rebounds and Ketia Swanier had 9 points and 6 assists. Angel McCoughtry and Michelle Pointdexter both had 9 points to lead the Cardinals. McCoughtry, the reigning Big East Player of the Year spent most of the game in foul trouble and eventually fouled out. Once again, the game was only televised on ESPNU and if you are like most of us in Connecticut, you had to listen to the game on WTIC 1080 AM. Don’t fret though Husky fans, you will be able to watch them play on Tuesday night when they face Rutgers. The game will be on espn2 and starts at 7:00 PM. Share This
Edgerrin James scores for the Cardinals
2006-10-30 03:03:09
Running back Edgerring James has gotten the Arizona Cardinals back into the game late in the second quarter by making the game 21-7 in favor of the Green Bay Packers. James capped off a scoring drive with an impressive drive by the Cardinals. The score gives the Cardinals a little momentum going into halftime. The Cardinals had looked largely inept prior to their last scoring drive, but they are now within striking distance of the Packers. It could make for an interesting second half.
