2007-09-07 16:51:00 When I read that the Decemberists were coming back so soon, I immediately got on IM and starting messaging people. This time around, they are doing a two concert series called "The Long and Short of it." I think it's rather clever. One day (11/3) is the "Long of It" concert where they will play their epic eight-minute plus songs and then the next day (11/4) is the "Short of It" concert where they will be playing their shorter more pop-type songs.The concerts are going to be held at the Orpheum Theater on 11/3-11/4 (Saturday and Sunday) and tickets go on sale tomorrow 9/8 @ 10am EST. Si en su anterior álbum ?Picaresque? ya se apuntaron algunas de las más brillantes páginas del pop del 2005 (?The sporting life? o ?16 military wives?), en su nuevo trabajo vuelven a marcarse dos irrefutables hits de un pop con la mejor denominación de origen: ?O Valencia? y ?The perfect crime 2? son un par de himnos alegres que incitan al movimiento y que recuerdan al mejor sonido de gente como Josh Rouse. This is the latest video from the album Crane Wife (which is excellent btw), and is almost 10min long, but don't worry every second is worth the while. The confusion after watching the video is almost guaranteed but I guess that's the way it is supposed to be.

E logo no início nota-se uma descida na tonalidade indie para uma vocalização mais amaciada e acordes mais pop, apesar de gostar mais das tonalidades anteriores, este albúm até não está mau, conseguindo ainda demonstrar algum do carisma que os Decemberists nos habituaram no passado, mas mas... esta mudança de certeza que vai afastar uns quantos fans e receber uns tantos outros, cá para mim a mossa foi na volta dos 30%, o que já é bastante para uma banda que apreciava bastante. Desde os "power-chords" "à-la" The Who logo na primeira faixa a demonstrar claramente a mudança sónica da banda, para o mix estranho logo a seguir na faixa 2 que apesar de tudo resulta e ainda na faixa 5, tendências dança e funk a dominar.
