They are the people who have always made you uneasy. You know who they are, and make no mistake, they know you.) discovered a wonderfully preserved grotto on the Palatine Hill, near the Palace of Augustus. It is rumored to be the traditional place where Romulus and Remus (Latin, not Uncle) were nursed by the wolf. That's what was celebrated in the Lupercalia, which got Jesus-ized into Valentine's Day by the Christians. The only thread I see between the two holidays is the cross species anomalous behavior. Lupercalia celebrates a mother wolf nursing and raising the human founders of Rome (and thus, Western Civilization... yes, I know Greece helped too.) 2007-11-06 12:16:00 I stood beneath a duvet. Of course, it could have been a cotton balled sky or cauliflower cumulus, but it bogged me down, bolting me to the nature strip outlining each gravestone. I didn't feel light or hopeful. Streaks of divine light streaked through the clouds, somehow missing me, and each stone marked a place for those who'd be pushing up daisies for all eternity (and then some).
