I did not hear a single positive comment about the film as we left the theater. We actually felt "ripped-off" as we left the theater. I was hoping that there would be an ending that would explain what happened in the previous, laborious 1 hour and 45 minutes. It was nothing more than boring confusion. While the producers are banking on the fact that people will flock to see the sequel, I don't see this as a likely possibility. People have to like the first movie before they will see a sequel. If the sequel has already been shot, I would suggest that it will go direct to DVD and bypass the theaters. 2007-12-14 09:37:00 I just watch The Golden Compass (Genre: Fantasy Film) during its Preview Nite last week.If you ask me, how I rate it!! I'll give 8 out of the 10. But, surprisingly when walking out of the cinema that nite. I overhead, quite a number of the men seems to say its boring....and, there's a 2nd episode??Hahhahaha!!!I mean what do u expect?? Its the trend now!!!!But, I love the story.Its just so mystical. And, my favourite actress, Nicole Kidman is one of the Villain!!! My God! it totally breaks my heart in the start. I mean how can she play the villain. There's nothing about her that portrays evil...Well, tats the thing with people. No one will ever know if someone is evil. Anyway, she does plays the part really well. Somehow, you like her and yet you want to hate her.And, come on we have James Bond (Daniel Craig) in the movie....!!! 2007-12-12 23:27:00 It is inevitable that a hugely successful series of fantasy novels, adapted for the screen with lashings of CGI, should attract comparisons with 'The Lord of the Rings', Harry Potter and 'The Chronicles of Narnia'. I don't think any reviewer could go without mentioning any of those adaptations when tackling 'The Golden Compass'. I don't intend bucking that trend, but let's get it out of the way. While a vast improvement on the likes of 'The Chronicles of Narnia' (in retrospect they really ruined that adaptation), 'The Golden Compass' is no 'Lord of the Rings'.
