Pulling Off The Mask
2008-05-07 15:17:00
Satan does not like it when people expose him. He is subtle and his subtlety keeps him in business. Why I feel compelled to expose him as much as I do, I will never know. I am not trying to be sensational or mystical. I don’t engage in fights with satan. I don’t pray him out ...SHARETHIS.addEntry({ title: "Pulling Off The Mask", url: "http://www.twoinstitutions.org-/?p=311" });

Danger Doom - The Mouse And the Mask
2008-03-01 15:36:00
Danger Doom is the collaboration of two of the biggest contemporary hip-hop figures: Danger Mouse and MF Doom. The two have come together to make music on Cartoon Network’s late night show Adult Swim. This is what I call quality hip-hop, a record to have fun with and enjoy even for non-hip-hop fans. Looks like a supergroup to me, already. I found them on FaceBook first (Facebook is starting a music service for artists to promote their music and users can become fans easily). The Mouse And The Mask features collaborations with Cee-Lo (Gnarls Barkley), Ghostface Killah and Talib Kweli. This is simply awesome and I enjoyed it all the way (knowing I’m not a good hip-hop listener but somehow this can be a starting point to this genre for me) and I think I’m going to get Kanye West and Lupe Fiasco as well. Although the album is released in 2005 but sounds fresh to me, lol. Ya homes!

Andrew Morton looks behind the mask of Tom Cruise, defends biography

Morton: "I interviewed Scientologists who have left. They are not necessarily disgruntled. They are people who have spent half their lives in the organization, reaching very high levels both of personal achievement and within the executive branch. It's not that they all have an ax to grind. They've all got an insight into what goes on there and Tom's involvement in the cause."
ACQUAINT ME VIA INTERNET - COMMUNICATION UNDER THE MASK
2007-12-25 22:35:00
Users of Internet spend several hours in front of the monitor sending short messages – user messages in order to get a new contact. And we wait for answers to those messages in quiver, no matter where we do it. We all desire to meet the person who interested us by an unusual smiley and manner of writing in real life. Plus you can even get his/her photo. And if you are lucky this photo will truly display the person who has sent it. Then impressed with his/her appearance and such an unusual deep inner world you finally make the first step and offer him/her to meet. Set up story is the beginning of our sleepless nights and thinks about our looking. You shouldn’t forget that acquaintance via the internet is always the communication under a mask. It’s always easier to talk with someone who does not see you and may never do. That’s why acquaintance via the internet happens much easier than in the real life. The first sign of disappointment, doleful phrase: “Well, you ...

The Mask

THIS JUST IN! Watch Geraldo Rivera squirm in Fox News' makeup chair. Video courtesy of Greta Van Susteren, fresh from her phony, fruitless trip to Aruba with the annoying, whiny Natalee Holloway mom. By outing Geraldo squinting, pointing his jutting chin to the ceiling, and preening in the chair, Greta promises a private look behind the scenes at Fox News. I relish the on-air scenes like Greta and the cloying Beth Holloway coming up empty-handed during their 24-hour whirlwind Aruba flyby. Greta wasted an hour in an empty police station bleating for someone in charge's mug to appear in the hidden cameradude's crosshairs. While I'm on mugs, recall that 15 years ago Geraldo had fat sucked out of his padded rear and injected into his irrigation ditch forehead on the air! I'm looking for the video. Since then it's obvious 64-year-old Geraldo's had at least one facelift, Botox, maybe spacklers like Restylane. Nipped and tucked eyelids? I don't think so. Geraldo doesn't have that t...
Luella Bartley back in town as the masked intruder
2007-09-18 03:27:00
Luella Bartley back in town as the masked intruder By Hilary Alexander, Fashion Director, at London Fashion WeekLuella Bartley, the British designer regarded as the "princess of pop-punk style", made her London Fashion Week comeback yesterday after an absence of five years in New York. 'The hair and make-up resembled a teenage rebellion at boarding school'Bartley, who enjoys cocking a snook at the Establishment, typically picked the elegant ballroom of Claridge's to launch her spring/summer 2008 collection, which she described as "cartoon chic".This meant "mod-look" trouser suits emblazoned with Batman motifs, and Batman and Robin masks. The designer used micro-floral prints, embellished with sequins for flirty dresses, short-sleeved shirts worn with high-waisted "cheeky-shorts" and tutu-skirts over tulle petticoats, all accessorised with multi-coloured, patent ankle-boots and platform shoes. The flower-power idea extended to lashings of fake plastic flowers that were appliq...
BEHIND THE MASK
2007-09-10 15:03:00
Psychology fascinates me. People, and the masks they wear, intrigue me especially. Whenever we meet someone, for the first time, we see the mask/persona very clearly, because it's how he/she wants to be seen. But I recognize the fact that it is simply a tool to conceal - probably - about 90% of the real person/psyche.Some are better at hiding their psyche than others. Sometimes we don't realize that a lot of people can 'read' our psyche - much better than ourselves. Someone could talk non-stop for a week about their thoughts and feelings and probably not even scratch the surface. Yet, someone else can look beyond their attempt at self-analysis and see very clearly how they are thinking and feeling. The psyche, of course, is a huge maze. That's why many people find it very difficult to articulate in words or express in other ways, exactly what going on 'inside'.So, I suppose the point I'm trying to make is that we know very little about ourselves. This is because ...

The Mask of Socrates: The Image of the Intellectual in Antiquity

The Mask of Socrates: The Image of the Intellectual in AntiquityUniversity of California Press| ISBN 0520201051 | 1996-03-14 | PDF | 376pages | 6.41 MBThis richly illustrated work provides a new and deeper perspective on the interaction of visual representation and classical culture from the fifth century B.C. to the fourth century A.D. Drawing on a variety of source materials such as Graeco-Roman literature, historiography, and philosophy, in addition to artistic renderings, Paul Zanker forges the first comprehensive history of the visual representation of Greek and Roman intellectuals. He takes the reader from the earliest visual images of Socrates and Plato to the figures of Christ, the Apostles, and contemporaneous pagan and civic dignitaries.Through his interpretations of postures, gestures, facial expressions, and stylistic changes of particular set pieces, we come to know these great poets and philosophers through all of their various personas--the prophetic wise man, the vir...

When Lefties Drop the Mask
2007-08-03 23:18:00
Isn’t that nice; creepy Max Blumenthal’s smear job is now showing up at Yahoo News, via The Nation: The Weekly Standard’s Strange Sources. He can smell teh ghey all over this story, and in the course of figuring out that former TNR staffer ‘Throbert McGee’ is not heterosexual (hey, no kidding) he smears LGF as an “overtly racist” blog. He linked to LGF. Eeewwww! Racists and homosexuals together! It’s always been a source of wonderment to see the same people who present themselves as paragons of morality resort to the most base, vile kinds of smears—homophobia, sexism, racism, you name it, they give themselves permission to use it—at the drop of a deadline. The word for this tactic is “libel.” And Yahoo News really ought to re-examine the policies that are allowing this kind of irresponsible, ugly writing to appear on their service. (But they won’t.) Unfortunately the lady, who calls itself meanwhile - also within the comment range of pi - Eisvogel, misunderstood probably the word Taqia. For openness shown there it gives, although I dissociate myself otherwise from complete post office and its comments I me naturally, but otherwise there is a clear read recommendation. Already for itself worth reading is this: I remain anonymous. Point. That has only few with fear of measurer-stinging Muslims to do (I got never a Hassmail of someone, which gave to recognize each other as a Muslim)
Mega Post: It all comes down to the masked men...but who's better?
2007-06-02 22:11:00
It's so tough to decide who's been the better goalie in this 88th version of the Stanley Cup Final, featuring the Ducks' Jean-Sebastien Giguere and Ottawa's "Sugar" Ray Emery. How about we let the photos decide who's been the better goalie and who will win the series?!Just for fun though...Game I. Hmmmm, the weird position battleJean-Sebas Giguere, in full gear, chats with Martin Gerber who's in his street clothes on the bench during practice in Anaheim. Man, Gerber musta said something funny to make Giguere laugh like that:"What does stopping a puck feel like again? It's been so long since I've done that, I don't even know why I bother growing this beard?!!"Giguere probably said: "Grow some hair on your head before letting your beard get long, and then I'll show you the basics.""Oh wait, is Ray calling me?" "I think I'm growing some hemorroids, it would help if my teammates didn't completely let me down in games so I wouldn't have to flop around everywhere to make a dam...

Behind the Mask of Evil
2007-04-26 00:07:00
By Doug Soderstrom, Ph.D.4/25/07It is so very easy for us to condemn acts of evil, to pretend that all is well ?with us,? that the evil that has been committed has emerged from the belly of a beast, that the other fellow, the one who committed the act, is someone very different than we are, someone beyond our capacity to understand, never realizing that we do such a thing in order to justify our angered need to condemn our foe. The much more difficult task is to take the time to understand our enemy, to try to understand why such a person may have chosen to do what he did, for in doing such a thing we begin to understand ourselves, and in better understanding ourselves we are led to the realization that we are in no way different from that of our enemy, that rather than choosing to hate him, we have little choice but to forgive the one we have been taught to hate.As a psychologist, I am bothered by those (especially the ?so-called professionals? on television) who continue to point ...
The masks...Part 2
2007-03-26 22:45:00
So, back to the truth. To start of let me just say there is no such thing as the ultimate truth, there is no absolute truth. Why? Because the truth is a perceptual notice, it depends on the one stating it and the one observing it. The truth is the one your mind links to the truth. You take for granted as the truth what you hear, and know that this is the truth. This could be very helpful in situations where knowing the truth doesn't help, it only makes a person feel bad, it takes him into those "bad states" that we talked earlier. We will always try to avoid those bad states like i said, and if this means avoiding the truth then be it. There is one thing to lying you have to do on your own, you have to be convincing, and this depends on you. I can teach you but this is something you have to learn yourself. Don't forget when you lie you are trying to help a person avoid a bad situation, not make it worse or trying to do harm.Let's make it easier, the truth isn't always good, even ...
Joining the masked face club

Like any other major city in the world, the air quality can be bad at times. Right now it's very dry and dusty (our humidifier is helping). You see residents walking the streets wearing masks all the time. I decided to join the mask club. I bought one of these from Homever for 1000w ($1usd).
