The Wrestler (2009)
2008-09-08 08:55:00
Evan Rachel Wood, who plays Randy's estranged daughter Stephanie, pulls off a solid performance. If anything she felt a bit under utilized. We learn little about her character other than she is a lesbian and that her father bailed out on her a long time ago. While her first scene doesn't shake the screen her scene with Randy on the boardwalk in midwinter is both beautiful and touching.
Religulous (2008)
2008-09-05 20:20:00
I suppose I should preface this review by saying that I am an atheist. Boy, am I an atheist. Though I don't commit idolatry I do place gentlemen like Richard Dawkins, Christopher Hitchens, and Bill Maher in the highest regard. I can also say Religulous was at the top of my list for films I needed to see at this year's Toronto International Film Festival.

POP: The Gremlins Crash Your DVR
2008-09-05 14:00:00
This is not only funny but damn impressive from batgremlin of Youtube. I remember my disappointment when I saw the VHS copy of Gremlins 2 for the first and did not happen to see Hulk Hogan yelling threats to some Gremlins. The Indiana Jones sequence is particularly well done.

Zack and Miri Make a Porno: Red Band Trailer!
2008-09-03 21:44:00
Ok this one is definitely not SFW but I am getting a good vibe here from Kevin Smith's latest movie staring Seth Rogen and Elizabeth Banks. If I am lucky and make it into a rush screening at TIFF I may have a review Zack and Miri Make a Porno this Sunday.
ScriptGirl Report for August 29th 2008
2008-09-02 03:51:00
It really stinks that we just got great news that Mark Steven Johnson was no longer adapting Ennis's Vertigo series of Preacher for HBO. Preacher was perfectly suited for HBO even if Johnson was no suitable for Preacher (or anything good for that matter).
POP: Toxic Avenger ?Carnality?
2008-08-25 05:28:00
Unfortunately I did not make it to the Lloyd Kaufman Q&A at this year's FanExpo in Toronto, but I felt this scene from Toxic Avenger was appropriate none the less.

2008-08-23 15:12:00
How do you save money? Put a little away here or there? Clip coupons? Go to afternoon movies? Those are all okay ideas, but how about this one: save money by paying off only 10% of your credit cards and having the companies forgive the rest -- so you don't owe them and you don't owe that interest? That's one of the options offered by Freedom Debt Relief to deal with debt. Freedom Debt Relief is in the business of helping you save money by reducing the debt you have and reducing the interest on that debt.Their site explains how in detail, and gives you a chance to sign up online, but I can give you the basics because I've been reading up. They primarily work through debt reduction -- working with credit card companies (Big Credit) to force your creditors to take less money than you owe. Sometimes a LOT less; one of their top settlements on their site is getting a client to pay only $2,500 on over $23,000 worth of debt. That's incredible. They also offer information on other ma...
POP: John Carpenter?s The Thing With GI JOE Figures
2008-08-20 14:00:00
Wow! Talk about an attention to detail. I don't even want to fathom how much time they had to put into this recreation of John Carpenter's The Thing. I'm really impressed with the snow effects and general set pieces. This easily the best film recreation I have ever seen with action figures and these days that is saying quite a lot. Great work from Simon Gesrel and Xavier Ehretsmann.

Trailer: Hell Ride
2008-08-15 14:00:00
This might be one of the few times where a film has Quentin Tarantino's name preceding where it actually looks like he may have had a hand in its production. You've got Michael Madsen and David Carradine with Larry Bishop directing this grindhouse-like flick. You might recognize Larry Bishop as one half of former comedic partnership with Rob Reiner and as the sleazy Larry Gomez in Tarantino's Kill Bill Volume 2.
Soapbox: Does Ledger?s Joker Deserve an Oscar?
2008-08-14 14:30:00
Also most people who have been part of these discussions forget we haven't even gotten to the Oscar movie season yet. If anyone remembers Road to Perdition it got screwed out of many awards because A. It was based on a graphic novel and B. It was released in the Summer. Most Oscar voters suffer from severe alzeimers, so forgive them if they forget every movie released prior to September.
Trailer: Appaloosa
2008-08-13 20:04:00
Being both a fan of Harris and Mortensen I am really looking forward to this Western. Not to mention I am a huge Western fan and it seems that even though we don't get many Western genre movies these days that when we do they tend to be excellent.

CLOTHES FROM THE MOVIES
2008-05-15 21:58:00
Before we decide what the latest cloth we should buy, some times we need to know the last update for fashion. I am not really sure if most people do that. The question is do we need to follow the last fashion to our lives? Honestly, my answer is yes, we need to follow and also get update for the last fashion trend on the markets. Fashion is known as styles of dress, but also means cuisine, literature, art, architecture, and general comportment. As all we know that such styles is usually change quickly, and “fashion” in the more colloquial sense refers to the latest version of these styles. American History X, is one of those movies, that keep you in a frozen state after watching it, because it?s so powerful. Edward Norton delivers a staggering performance ...
