Don, Mark, and Frankie (the coaches for the group) couldn't make it to Sunday night shows, so even though I was in the class and show, I also ran the booth. I would flick the lights, play some music and folks got on stage. Take the music out then climb over the toilet backstage and sneak on stage. I choose some soothing classical music to try to set the mood of calm in the house. And we were off. At some point someone in the class initiates a scene of a line-up in jail, saying "step forward and say, 'Give me your money you fucking bitch'." So the performers start to do this in turn. Frankie knew this all too well with his experience working at IO. So he asked me to think of a class that wasn't currently being offered in Chicago that we could sell. We came up with "Dramatic Improv". It would be taught by Don Hall (Founding Director of WNEP Theater) AND Mark Sutton (Artistic Director of Chicago Improv Festival). Three weeks with Don and three weeks with Mark. We decided to offer the first round for free and hope word of mouth would carry the class. We also offered the class a performance slot on Sundays at 8pm -- Frank said that what folks really want is stage time. At this point the restaurant was still piles of dirt, but we did manage to move the light switch to the booth area, even though the lights were still just up, down, or slow fade. 2007-10-28 20:16:00 My feelings are always swirling! And with that begins the typically energetic anime theme song to 2x2 Shinobuden. As per usual with anime openings, we get hints of lots of characters that we'll be introduced to as the series progresses. The one I am most interested in after watching the opening is a generic ninja in black with the head of an alligator (!)The first thing I noticed as the episode began was the great animation off the top. Shinobu is bouncing from rooftop to rooftop under the cover of night and the whole thing is done smoothly and effectively. The quality of the animation is really shown off as she passes a cat on a nearby fence. The angle changes to Shinobu's POV and the cat and BG all rotate with her leap.She lands on the balcony of Kaede, a high school girl who is studying for an exam the next day. Shinobu does some quick hand seals and shouts "Concealment Technique!" and then thinks she's invisible (she's not). She open the door to balcony and walks into Kaede...

With the DS now the primary choice for a Nintendo handheld system over the GBA, I thought this game would not see the light of day. I found out that the game is available for Pre-Order on Amazon.com with a late-October street date. This is really fun to play. It's a turn-based RPG Naruto game. You won't see the side scrolling battles like you see in the "Ninja Council" games. The playable characters, to my knowledge, are Naruto, Sasuke and Sakura. There are several characters that can be unlocked during the game. The game starts off just like in the earlier episodes of the anime: the ones with Haku and Zabuza. You go through Kakashi's training and everything that occurs afterwards. Plus the music during the field battles are catchy. The music is the same as in the TV show, but it brings that Final Fantasy fe...

2007-06-21 09:40:00 Ah, now here's an amusing game I remember from when I was a teen, based on the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, which became an overnight success when Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird's comic first appeared in 1984, and went on to acquire many great merchandise items, like this one!Konami first made a game based on the TMNT back in 1987, but that was for home systems. This game was made when, during 1989-92, they took to making quite a few games based on licensed products, and it was a success. Some of the things you need to try and be careful of here include falling momentarily into manholes, though this does have a funny comment to accompany it: "who put the lights out?"The recording I found had been uploaded in fast-forwarded format, but at least it does still feature plenty of great stuff, including the Ninja Turtles on skateboards! We had Ask a Ninja (let me know if you haven’t seen the videos and I’ll post one … I just figured most people were already tired of him), return in force of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Ninja halloween costumes (thankfully no chinese stars in my neighborhood), Ninja toys, Ninja training manuals/videos, and Urban Ninja stunts such as this one: (if you can’t see the video, click here) Apparently the Ninja trend is slowly engulfing all areas of society.
