NBA Finals Lakers vs Boston - The Rivalry Continues
2008-05-31 05:49:00
It seems history repeats itself and the rivalry still continues between LA Lakers and Boston Celtics. The Lakers and Celtics have met 10 times in NBA finals. Boston wins the first eight championship while Lakers got the last two. The rivalry originated in 1960 when Celtics defeated the Lakers six times (1962, 1963, 1965, 1966, ... The Rivalry That Does Not Exist: O's vs. Nationals Play Kick Off the Annual
2008-05-16 16:20:00
Well, the non-existent rivalry between the Washington Nationals and Baltimore Orioles kicks off tonight at the Yard. What can we say -- right now, no one cares that the team formerly known as the Expos are playing the recently-down-on-their luck Orioles. The reason is simple -- aside from the few people 40 and over who were around to see the Senators and the Orioles face off (and the Senators were bad), there's no real history between the two franchises.Lest we not forget the role of Peter Angelos in this whole affair.Once you look at the record of Washington this season and the talent they've got, plus the Orioles' reputation -- it's east to see why no one wants to hype this up.We need an incident or better yet, the two teams winning to create any interest.Until that happens, the team that's in my backyard which I see often (the Nationals) are playing the team I rooted for as a youngster and to this very day (the Orioles).Matchups:Friday: Shawn Hill (0-0, 3.56) vs. Garrett Olso...

This weekend was an unofficial holiday in the Buckeye state. Saturday was The Game. If you’re from these parts there is no need to expound. Since most of you are not in the know, let me explain. First let’s touch on the importance of OSU football in general. To illustrate the importance of OSU football to ...
Stoking The Rivalry Keeps Getting Harder

photo courtesy of Dave Sandford/Getty I want, more than anything, for the Calgary Flames to become the number one rival of the Colorado Avalanche, filling the huge vacancy left by the Detroit Red Wings a few years ago when they quit having a collective personality and when the Avs got kind of stinky. I hate the Flames because I don't like their players, their coach, their history of trades with Colorado or the way they play hockey.  I think Dion Phaneuf (pictured above getting leveled) is a cocky prima donna who can't back up his loud mouth or his cheap hits with his slow fists.  I'm not a big fan of Jarome Iginla or Alex Tanguay, either.  And I think Miikka Kiprusoff is just short of Dominic Hasek on the crazy goalie meter.  I also think the Flames have the potential to be a great team---but I've been wrong before and it looks like I'll be wrong about this, too. I submit two key pieces to evidence.  First is this off-hand little comment made by Aval...

Most Western experts argue that the greatest over ever bowled in Test cricket was that by Michael Holding to Geoff Boycott at Bridgetown 1981. However many Pakistani and Indian fans shall have issues with it. According to them the greatest over ever bowled in Test cricket must be the one bowled by Wasim Akram to ...

Way back in January, when Randy Moss was still a Raider, Peyton Manning still had a point to prove and 99% of America had yet to see Matsuzaka pitch, I received an email from a chap in New York called Jerry. He wrote; Jerry, Riverdale, New York Why do you even bother? Have fun writing about the
