The former president of South Africa is to celebrate his special day with a big charity concert at the capital?s Hyde Park on June 27th and he?s called on the famed couple to take charge of the star-studded event, according to the British newspaper The Sun.Queen stars Brian May and Roger Taylor, Annie Lennox and British rockers Keane among the acts who have already signed up for the gig, while U2, the Spice Girls and Sir Paul McCartney have also been approached to take part in the celebrations. The Spice Girls recently offered to reunite for a final one-off performance especially for Mandela, with Ginger Spice Geri Halliwell saying: "He?s just an example of strength and humility and if we could be part of that, celebrating his life - wow."

2007-03-16 10:17:00 Als ich mich gestern auf der Seite des Safranin Sounds-Labels umschaute, das von Mitgliedern von Alcian Blue betrieben wird und die neben Ceremony auch The Offering im Aufgebot haben, entdeckte ich dort die Band The Antiques, die ich mir sofort anhören musste. Und was soll ich sagen - das war eine gute Entscheidung! Zwar machen die Mannen aus Washington keinen Shoegazelärm wie die vorgenannten Bands, aber dennoch passen sie gut ins Programm, denn ihre Musik ist ebenfalls eindeutig Wave-angehauchter, britisch anmutender Gitarrenpop, sehr melancholisch, der von der Presse schon mal als Mischung aus den frühen R.E.M. und den Smiths bezeichnet wird.
