The Grotto - Houston (The Woodlands)
2008-03-17 01:58:00 Back to Houston...we had a great dinner at the Grotto in the Woodlands. The Grotto is one of the Landry's properties. It's a somewhat casual dinning experience, but the bathroom has a touch that our blog founder, Chicken Fried, would consider quite fancy. The paper towels have that consistency of cloth that one would find at a fine dining restaurant. I remember a time we ate at The Delmonico Steak House at the Venetian and Chicken Fried made a point to make sure that we all checked out the paper hand towels.Enough of that woolgathering and back to The Grotto. The company had an after work dinner with three options for the dinner. I went with the Rigatoni della Sansoni. It was your basic pasta shells in a red sauce, but they added some great tasting meatballs. The sauce had a slight wine-like flavor to it. I've recently discovered that I like wine sauces. The Woodlands is Harmonious
2007-10-20 19:22:00 Hello Neighbor, I may be new to blogging, but I am fully immersed in knowledge about The Woodlands. Sometimes I am in awe at the wide variety of offerings in this hometown. Last night, the Houston Symphony was in The Pavilion. It was fitting for the program to be from an all American composer - Copeland. Although I have often heard the most memorable tune from the symphony "Tis a Gift to be Simple - Tis a Gift to be Free"; I had never heard a complete work from this composer. WOW - what a gift to hear it last night! It was not really a crowd pleaser. There were no rousing applause that called for an encore. But if you watched the faces of the audience, a calm pleasance was apparent. People were not arroused by a sweeping, loud, boisterous sound. Copeland won the 1945 Pulitzer Prize in Music with Appalachian Spring and I think it was so widel...
