Calling All Young Bloggers To Join The Youth Bloggers Network
2008-06-06 05:26:00 This article is guest posted by Patrick. About Hello all, this is my first guest post on Carl’s blog, and I hope it does not come off as purely a self promotional post. I think I should start off by telling a little bit about myself. My name is Patrick DeVivo, and I am a self educating youth blogger from New York, USA. I am currently interested in web design and Photoshop. I am trying my hardest to learn all about PHP and MySQL programming and also XHTML/CSS. I am currently fourteen years old, and my biggest current project is The Youth Bloggers Network. The Youth Bloggers Network is a new website which I have been setting up for the past month or so (working on and off). There has not been an official launch, but all the functions and features of the site should be working properly as of last night. The…
The youth of today.....
2008-04-29 18:42:00 It's been another few days when I've been so busy, busy with this that and a little bit of the other. It's enough to tire me out and I think I'll be glad to go back to work tomorrow night - for the rest! I'm not really sure where to start, I know I've neglected you, my faithful reader, over the last few days, for which I am sorry, but you know what it's like, things just get in the way. Anyway, let's just get on with it, catch up and get to grips with the rest of the actualities that is life in the present day.Friday was a good day, I did some washing, went for a walk, chatted online to CamBoy and then after a while Lance and the boys came round for a bit of chilling and chatting and erm drinking. Not really much to report, Oh on the good news front, one of the advertisers on the the previous version of The Seafront Diaries had paid up the final about of $470, which was a pleasant surprise and put a big smile upon my face. I wasn't expecting it and although the sum of money...
Meath Councillor Interacts With ?The Youth?
2008-04-16 10:06:00 There was an interesting confrontation between FF Councillor Nick Killian, chairman of Meath County Council and local youths in Ratoath. Interesting because it captured a robust exchange between the councillor and the youths which culminated in Killian doing a “John Prescott” and lunging for one of the teenagers after been called a fat bastard after ...

HB 2196, the Youth Employment Incentive Tax Credit.
2008-03-12 15:09:00 We are proud to join The Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce is urging lawmakers to approve HB 2196, a Pennsylvania state tax credit for businesses that employ disadvantaged youth. Rep. Josh Shapiro (D - Montgomery County) introduced this terrific bill that would encourage business to hire young adults from under privileged households. Under this measure, if a business hires a young adult who comes from a household with income that does not exceed 235% of the federal poverty level, that business would be eligible for tax credits equal to 70% of the employment expenses incurred. Introduced by Rep. Josh Shapiro (D - Montgomery County), the bill sets aside $20 million for these tax credits. Putting young people to work is important. We want our teens to have the valuable skills and life experiences earned from working, and it's great to see Rep. Josh Shapiro and the state focus on how they can help. This is not a hand out, but a working solution. Please contact your...

A change to improve your health and also help a cause for the youth
2008-02-29 21:23:00 We are very thankful for our sponsor in having the chance to advocate and introduce to everyone the technology of bio-magnetic therapy which can enhance blood circulation and has the possibility of preventing some illnesses from further developing. It is not a new technology but for sure many have already found it to be effective. At the same time for every support and product purchase that we get from this you support the cause of an organization who is empowering the youth and enhancing their capacity to be better agents of change not only in the Philippines but in the world. How can you help out? Read on...Through me, Brotherhood of Destiny (BROOD), Inc had been given a chance to take part in the advocacy of bio-magnetic therapy. Though the organization has no official position on it as its Secretary General I think that whatever makes a difference for people in a positive sense is definitely a good and effective tool. The Business Account sells various types of magnetic bracel...
Freddie Searing Hot
2008-02-26 00:17:00 Freddie Sears maintained his impressive scoring form to earn West Ham United a hard-fought 3-1 victory against a youthful Tottenham side tonight. The prolific 18-year-old forward, who now has three goals from six reserve appearances and 21 strikes in 17 games for the Under-18s, struck on the stroke of half-time to cancel out Troy Archibald-Henville's opener for Tottenham. He wrapped up the win with a superb run and shot 17 minutes from time. In between, he found time to set up Dean Ashton for a close-range finish. Sears had begun the contest on the right wing but moved into attack when Bobby Zamora made way on half-time. It was an experienced side throughout with Jimmy Walker in goal behind Jonathan Spector and John Paintsil. The victory moves West Ham United three points clear of third-placed Reading in the southern section of the Barclays Premier Reserve League and just two points behind leaders Aston Villa - although both have two games in hand after a 1-1 draw on the same even...

Obama and the youth vote
2008-02-20 19:01:00 If you're over thirty, are you smarter now or when you in college? Are you wiser? Are you more responsible? Do you make better philosophical decisions? I'm guessing most of you would prefer your current mind (even if you'd long for your former body). In college, like many of you, I flirted with radicalism. My first vote after college was for Ross Perot, and I remember Clinton impressing me during his inaugural speech. I didn't have what I now consider a correct attitude towards children, marriage, work, and a host of other issues. Aside from my own experience, the slow values deterioration of our population from the fifties on (Affluence has that effect. Do you respect Paris more than Conrad?), and I'd have to say that being more popular amongst today's young than yesterday's is actually somewhat damning. Obama's ability to rally MTV marinated Americans with his emotionalism (In my experience, that their own hearts guides the left more than cold reason isn't just a clic...

The March Of Youth
2008-02-20 15:14:00 It is another quiet day today save for a slew of youth related stories on the official site. First up is Mark Noble, who we're told, is mightily impressed with the likes of James Tomkins, Jack Collison and Freddie Sears. All three have shown up well while training and travelling with the senior squad in recent weeks. Of reserve-team captain Collison, Noble said: "He is a fantastic player and a really nice kid as well. He handles himself well, gets on with everyone and is well liked. He is great in training every day with us, he is definitely one for the future." Collison, 19, made his senior debut away to Arsenal on New Year's Day, a match when central defender Tomkins, 18, also figured in the matchday 16 for the first time. "I rate Tomks highly," added Noble, who said it was harder for defenders to come through given the fact some of the best attacking players in the world are on view in the Premier League. That said, he has faith in his young colleague. "He is a clever centre-ba...

Next Sunday will be 15 years to the day that Bobby Moore passed away and the man currently wearing his number has revealed what it means to him to have the shirt. "It's a big honour," reflects Matthew Upson. "Sometimes I do sit at home and think about it and I get a little buzz because it's a big honour. I didn't actually specifically ask for it. I was given it and it's a real honour to wear that shirt." With the team not playing this weekend ahead of the trip to Fulham, fittingly a club also served by the legendary Moore, next Saturday, Upson ha...
Different Paths
2008-02-15 18:34:00 A quiet news day gives us the chance to catch up on two of the forgotten men of this season. James Collins is said to be targeting as quick a return as possible from his serious knee injury with surgery due next week before he begins on the road to recovery. The Welshman suffered damage to the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee during a reserve-team outing at Portsmouth on 23 January - just as he was approaching full fitness and a return to regular first-team action. Speaking to the official site, West Ham United head physiotherapist George Cooper said he is optimistic that the defender could yet return to play some part in pre-season training this summer. "He has got a 75 per cent tear of his anterior cruciate ligament and that was diagnosed under arthroscopy which has made planning the operation much easier," Cooper revealed. "There is going to be no surprises when they go inside the knee. They know what is going on in there." While it is difficult to predict yet when Co...

Youth On The Rise
2008-02-04 12:56:00 There was at least some good news this weekend when the U 18's recorded an impressive away victory against their Arsenal counterparts. Goals from Daniel Kearns and Freddie Sears helped West Ham United to a 2-0 victory against a strong Arsenal side on Saturday morning, thereby avenging a 6-1 home defeat in the previous meeting of the two clubs earlier this campaign. After a slow start from both sides in the first 20 minutes, West Ham United broke the deadlock through Kearns. The young Northern Irishman cut inside from the left flank before scoring with a fierce low shot that was deflected past the home goalkeeper. Buoyed by the goal, the Hammers kept going and Kearns found himself well-placed with another opportunity - only for the keeper to save with his legs. Ollie Lee then had a good shot deflected wide for a corner as Carr's side finished the half strongly. The second half was barely a minute old when West Ham United carved their way through the middle. Jack Jeffery burst into ...

So Much for the Youth Movement
2007-11-10 15:57:00 Eleven-time Gold Glove shortstop Omar Vizquel agreed to a $5.3 million, one-year deal with his San Francisco Giants Friday, including a club option that could bringhis worth to $10.2 million over two seasons. He’s guaranteed $5 million next season, and the Giants have a $5.2 million option for 2009 with a $300,000 buyout. Slumping offensively,Vizquel batted just .246 this season, but played defense up the middle like a young buck, which is probably the reason he’s still able to get a contract at the age of 40.

The Youth Movement In Indian Aviation...
2007-08-26 10:16:00 One can see the youth movement in the cockpits of some Indian airliners. 19-year-olds are flying as first officers in aircrafts like Boeing 737s and A320s and the four-striper beside them might be as young as 25. In India about 5 percent of commanders on jet aircrafts are under 30 years of age. Thnax to the rapid expansion of Indian aviation. Indian pilots are now, trained almost exclusively for airline positions and the training has become very focused. A young pilot can be commercially rated at 18 years of age and, for some airlines, it needs just 1,500 hours of flying hours to get control of the wheel. Is it good or bad??? especially given the demanding flying conditions in India. If one becomes a commander after flying as a copilot for only two years, there is a level of risk involved due to lack of experience. One must remember that a 19-year-old copilot may be sharing the cockpit with a 25-year-old commander -- there are hardly any years of experience between them. to read co...

Bills Training Camp, Week One: All About the Youth
2007-07-29 17:58:00 Poz, others seeing first-team reps (Courtesy: BuffaloBills.com) The first three days of the 2007 Buffalo Bills training camp are in the books, and this newest version of the Bills has hit the practice gridiron running. With six (padless) practices under their belts, some of Buffalo's players are already starting to distinguish themselves amongst their peers, and sound ready to hit the real playing field in meaningful games. The difference this year, however, is that among those distinguishing themselves, the vast majority of them are young. Really young. We're used to seeing veteran guys making headlines during camp - and to an extent, we're still seeing that (for example, Lee Evans has been uncoverable). But it's a group of young players that are really turning heads. Let's take a look at six players (none of whom have more than one year of NFL experience) who are making plays and climbing the depth chart this early in camp: MLB Paul Posluszny (#51) "Poz", who h...
Polling the Uninformed: Why the Youth Vote and Youth Opinion Polls are Mean
2007-07-28 07:32:00 Over the last decade, the media has become completely obsessed with youth opinion polls. Can someone explain to me why money is wasted figuring out what the most ignorant citizens in society think? Next, we can survey Lindsay Lohan to get her opinion about limited government and the Laugher Curve. There really are few things more absurd. First, an enormous number of Americans below the age of 24 have not been married. Many are childless. They have not been steadily employed for more than a decade. Notably, many of them are still in school ready to get a start in life. This certainly does not qualify someone to give opinions about anything, especially public policy. Yet, recently the Democracy Corps/Greenberg Quinlan Rosner survey found young people ?profoundly alienated from the Republican party and its perceived values.? Furthermore, according to the survey responses, ?Young people react with hostility to the Republicans on almost every measure and Republicans and youn...

The skills initiative is part of a wider commitment from the government?s new youth workforce strategy which includes a focus on increasing diversity in the youth workforce, reviewing and championing the youth work apprenticeship, a common platform of skills and training for the youth workforce and support for the third sector?s role in engaging with young people. The leadership and management programme aims to support the development of a shared set of skills, knowledge and behaviour across all sectors who work with young people. Leah Swain, executive...
Reproductive health and the youth
2007-07-15 13:07:00 Based on 2006 surveys, an average of 23.1% of the youth now engage in PMS; 15% for female and 31% for male. It was reported that 57% of the young people have unplanned first sex experience. Every year, 14 million children are born to adolescent women. Ten percent of all births and 80 million pregnancies in the world every year are unwanted. Unwanted pregnancies are common among female students. This resulted to serious problems with their families. Many postponed their schooling and get menial jobs to meet the needs of their baby. One common problem in a case like this is lack of dialogue between the parents and the son or daughter. The family is the basic unit of the society and life education including sexuality must start from it. However, the channel of communication seems to be dysfunctional among many families now. Some parents say that it is improper and unethical to talk about intimate issues with the members of the family. They believe, it's the job of the schoo...

Online Broking - Is It For The Youth ??
2007-07-13 14:18:00 I came across an article of Business Standard which said “Brokerages are stepping up the gas on internet trading, targeting young office-goers and home keepers, to boost their trading volumes”After a brief thought I had a few questions in my mind!!Why should Brokerage houses target the youth when they already have big investors pumping in crore’s of rupees regularly ?the 15 -30 age group is the largest population of India. They are the future of this country. They may not have too much money at this point ( a few of them do, like our ceo) but are open to the following things- Risk Taking Capacity – the Youth are more open to taking risks at this pointy in their life as (in most cases) they donot have to support their family. They have more spending power than before, they earn and spend their own money (self Funded, like a few of us in this office.) 9% per year on FD (Fixed Deposits) Are you kidding me when you can conservatively earn upto 20% (maybe mor...

Wrinkle Cream - Giving You The Youthful Looks!
2007-06-07 12:58:00 By Joey River Wrinkle creams offer all those women who do not want wrinkles to show on their face, a great relief. Wrinkles are an indication of aging and something that no woman would accept. Today, with the advancement in science, we find that we have the most effective range of wrinkle creams than ever before. Wrinkle creams are available for all types of skin and weather. The reason behind why we get wrinkles is aging. Wrinkles are more conspicuous after we reach the age of forty. These keep on growing more and more after each decade passes, showing that we are aging. Wrinkle creams are a harmless and healthy way to remove or reduce the wrinkles effectively. As we age, skin starts losing its ability to retain moisture. This causes dryness of skin. This happens especially on those parts of the body, which have been most exposed to the Sun. Also, as we age, not just the moisture but the level of collagen also depletes in the skin. The rate at which dermal cells were dividing an... |
