The short-comings of every theist argument that I have ever heard, and the
2008-03-06 16:15:00 I am an agnostic atheist. An agnostic atheist is one who does not make the assertive statement “There is no God”, but simply lacks a belief in any God. I do not know for certain that there is no God, so I won’t claim such knowledge. In my experience, though, I have had no experiences ...

Burden of proof is on the Theist
2007-12-22 22:31:00 As explained by an atheist in… *dun dun dun* a cape! Read the following after viewing the video: If god’s existence can not be proven, it is hence reasonable to reject it as an outlandish and ridiculous claim. This leads to what we now call Agnostic Atheism. That is, I reject the notion of god’s existence due ...

The Golden Compass: Chronicles of Narnia for Atheists?
2007-12-01 03:05:00 link to video The large computer generated battle in the trailer portends Lord of the Rings derivative cliche', but The Golden Compass looks fantastic and could very well be a great movie. Like TGC, The Chronicles of Narnia climaxes in one of those CG showcases. In addition, both movies have child leads, are set in a fantastic alternate reality that snuggles against our own, and are based on a children's book series that allegorizes an ultimate philosophy (Christianity for TCON and atheism for TGC). The producers of TGC hope that their movie mirrors TCON in another way: TCON pulled in an unGodly amount of money. At least part of TCON's success had to do with churches and peripherally pro-Christian institutions (talk radio) encouraging its members to view the movie. Parents entered the movie confident that they'd get two hours of "positive values." How will TGC' underlying anti-religion affect it's box office? Most people either won't know about it or won't care, but th...

Atheist Morality
2007-11-28 04:28:00 I was glancing at this post from the Diary of a Teenage Atheist. The combox discussion had what amounts as an admission that nature is designed rather than evolved. Matt Svoboda posed the following question to TA: “. . . ‘Where does the moral code come from?’ Why do our moral codes automatically tell us it ...
Atheist Students Run Porn-for-Bible Exchange
2007-11-26 19:31:00 Atheist students at the University of Texas have been running a porn-for-bibles exchange. The traders were sponsored by a student organization named Atheist Agenda. It met with quite a bit of success with students stopping by to trade in their version of 'the book' for skin mags.A number of surveys have shown that a high percentage of evangelical males are porn surfers. A high percentage are also in denial about it.I like the idea of Atheists down in the Lone Star state using porn to take a symbolic swipe at the content of the holy book. It seems sort of juvenile at first glance, but its a clever way of grabbing a few headlines. The program goes by the header "smut-for-smut". It's drawn a lot of attention and will probably initiate a lot of discussion, which is always a plus. There are a number of Atheists who while rejecting God, strangely continue to buy into Judeao-Christian morality and ethics almost by default. They would probably shy away from using porn in this fashion for...

An Atheist In The Wood
2007-11-24 11:03:00 An atheist was walking through the woods. "What majestic trees"!"What powerful rivers"!"What beautiful animals"!He said to himself. As he was walking alongside the river,he heard a rustling in the bushes behind him.He turned to look. He saw a 7-foot grizzly bear charge towards him.He ran as fast as he could up the path.He looked over his shoulder & saw that the bear was closing in on him.He looked over his shoulder again, and the bear was even closer. He tripped and fell on the ground. He rolled over to pick himself up but saw that the bear was right on top of him, reaching for him with his left paw & raising his right paw to strike him.At that instant the Atheist cried out, "Oh my God!"Time Stopped. The bear froze. The forest was silent. As a bright light shone upon the man, a voice came out of the sky."You deny my existence for all these years, teach others I don't exist and even credit creation to cosmic accident.""Do you expect me to help you out of this predicament?Am I to cou...

The Atheist Continues Reading, part III
2007-11-19 09:28:00 Second, is the god depicted in the Old Testament books I have read so far (Genesis through Numbers) the same god that I will encounter in the New Testament, or are these two different gods? The Golden Compass: Atheistic Madrassa At Its Finest
2007-11-02 21:05:00 Once again, Kudos to my friend Roberta for forwarding yet another great e-mail to me about a serious agenda. It's regarding the upcoming Dec. 7, 2007 release of the movie, "The Golden Compass," starring Nicole Kidman, Daniel Craig, and Ian McKellan as the "voice" of one of the characters (a Bear.)The agenda behind The Golden Compass series could best be described as deceptive, even evil (in whatever form you want to describe evil) in its underlying message. Yet, the author Philip Pullman try's to explain away that precept. In his MSNBC interview, he takes great joy on continually harping on the BAD done by organized religion. Yet, doesn't seem to acknowledge the overwhelming bad done OUTSIDE of religion, such as over 57 million people slaughtered by Hitler and Stalin. The Golden Compass is only book one of a trilogy written by Pullman called "His Dark Materials." I think that alone should explain it well enough on its own.Snopes.com also has some revealing info about this. In a 2...

An Answer to An Agnostic or Deist (not an Atheist) by Shalene
2007-10-29 17:00:00 Dear Readers: I have had continued correspondence with Mr. Hallows, of crazychristianblog who in my previous post, I erroneously classified as an atheist. He has informed me that he is somewhat a Deist, somewhat an agnostic. (I do not endorse his site, but I felt that in all fairness, I would include his link, for those that wish to know more of what this man's beliefs are. I warn you that the site is full of insult to Christianity, Christ followers, and swearing. Visit with caution, and prayer.) However, the fact remains that he does not believe in God, as I do, and so am continuing to share our correspondence. I welcome your comments, and would like to ask your continued prayers upon him. Remember that despite what he may think of us, God loves him, and so should we.First, his email to me, and then my response.Subject: Responce To Your 2 EmailsThank you for your response. Blessings to you.Subject: Response To A Comment You Made At crazychistianblogHello, You left a comment on my blog and I would like to give you the full chance to explain your reason for your believe in Christianity. I am by a long shot completely dumbfounded why anybody would take up a religion such a Christianity, a religion that was founded 300 years after the events that shaped it and it ultimately nothing more Judaism 2.0. I can tell that you are very much a devout woman but I am yet to get a satisfying answer to one question. Why are you a Christian? At what point did you decided Christianity was a religion for you. Are you a Christian because your family is, or is it because your husband is, or because this is a country run and governed by Christians. What, besides a dusty old book actually makes y...

An Atheist?s Fantasy of Killing God
2007-10-25 15:15:00 Verified at snopes.com, coming this December 2007, is a movie entitled The Golden Compass.Origins: ?The film is based on (released in the U.S. as The Golden Compass), the first offering in Phillip Pullman's His Dark Materials trilogy of children's books, a series that follows the adventures of a streetwise girl who travels through multiple worlds populated by witches, armor-plated bears, and sinister ecclesiastical assassins to defeat the oppressive forces of a senile God.?Snopes also notes, ?The series' author, Phillip Pullman, is an avowed atheist who has averred that "I don't profess any religion; I don't think it's possible that there is a God; I have the greatest difficulty in understanding what is meant by the words 'spiritual' or 'spirituality.'" Critics of Pullman's books point to the strong anti-religion and anti-God themes they incorporate, and although literary works are subject to a variety of interpretations, Pullman left little doubt about his intentions whe...

Christopher Hitchens : Militant Atheist?
2007-10-17 21:11:00 ?Myers says Hitchens wasn't noticeably drunk, so he doesn't have his usual excuse for inexcusable behavior, such as in this previous instance. In any event, such antics are the logical extension of his increasingly warlike thought. This ex-Trotskyist, whose support for militant secularism led him to idolize the founder and first commander of the Red Army, has gone so over the top with his crusade against all religion that he has come to advocate wiping out entire populations. "Demolish it!" he said, when asked about Iran ? with apparently no more moral compunctions about the slaughter of the innocent than one might normally exhibit toward a swarm of midges.??Hitchens is quite clearly marketing himself as a contemporary Robert Ingersoll, the spokesman for atheism and secularism in the English-speaking world, although, clearly, looking at the bestseller list, he has a lot of competition for that title. If someone with that kind of a public platform should use his status to spread an...

Tash Smith On Once Being An Atheist
2007-10-12 13:18:00 On once being an Atheist: "I was depressed and high on cocaine and feeling like I wanted to kill myself. I felt like I need to make a change. I remember I challenged God. I said if you're real, then I need you to do this, this and this. I told a friend ? when I called myself challenging God, God was really drawing me in. He was saying it was time for this Tasha to come out of this dark place and that's what his grace ended up doing to my life. During this time, I wasn't working, working, but I was doing my comedy. I think that the anger, the rejection and the disappointment of Christianity in people that I saw who seemed to be very religious kind of drove me away. I don't even know looking back if it was something that I really believed. I hoped that there was a God, but I think that my disappointment caused me to say it can't be 'cause if you folks who claim to know Jesus are acting like that, it can't be true."via Jawn Murray on BV Buzz

I was an Atheist
2007-10-06 19:59:00 Yes, I was an atheist. My mother sent me to church when I was a child, but it didn't take very well. When I was in t5th grade I asked my dad if it were better to be a good atheist or a bad Christian & he told me a bad Christian. This did not calculate in my tiny brain.I can't remember much of my childhood because I was abused sexually, physically & emotionally. I use to think I could not be whole if I did not remember the past. But, God has shown me different & why would I ever want to remember those things anyways. God has healed me from the past and that is what matters.Because of my lack of memory, I can't remember when I started to truly see into the spirit realm. The first thing I remember is waking up & seeing my grandfather standing at the end of my bed. He lived in Indiana & I was in California. I didn't speak to him, but, instead turned over. A minute or two later my mother came in to tell me he had died in Indiana. I didn't tell her what I...

Video - Atheist Delusion
2007-09-21 09:29:00 First of all, I'm a God believer, but I do see atheists make a lot of sense. I support them in many ways against people who are so devoted in their religions that they don't see the points in other religions. I believe that you're free to believe in what you choose 'cause at the end, none of it seems to matters. Adults believing in God in a way is similar to children believing in teddy bears and Santa. One could say that they're all methods of coping mechanisms we create to deal with life. Interesting topic.
