Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF), better known as Amul, hiked prices by Re 1 per litre, despite the fact that the federation broke all past records and procured over 100 lakh litre milk in a single day just two months before on December 27, 2007. GCMMF management is attributing ?increasing operational costs? as a reason for increasing milk price by one rupee a litre with effect from March 1. But experts are blaming Gujarat assembly elections 2007 for third milk price hike effected in just 12 months and fifth in 24 months. 2007-10-25 07:37:00 When I got Thrice's new album, The Alchemy Index, in my hands, I was thrilled to see that it wasn't just an album, it was a double album! Fire & Water, each containing 6 songs. That's when I started getting excited, I thought to myself, Wow, there's going to be a few 10 minutes plus songs on this, awesome. Boy was I wrong, these are "normal" length songs that run for a combined 49 minutes and 13 seconds. They made a double album that fits on only one cd. I'm sorry but that's a shameless waste of material.Enough complaining, I think you all got the point. So on to the concept of the album, Fire & Water. Fire represents the aggressive side of the band, their metal roots are proeminent, angst ridden lyrics and vocals, fiery guitars, 6 energetic songs. I'm sure you guess what's Water about? It's the more melodic, emotionally driven side of the band, mellow songs. While I like the concept, it globally hurts the flow of the album, 6 action packed songs in a row followed by 6 slow...

The lead singer/guitar player for the band Thrice, Dustin Kensrue, has started his own little acoustic side project. Without being on any type of label and the few recordings he has being live, it sure is like candy for the ears. He is however supposed to be working on a record this summer (How is yours going by the way? Greaaaat, glad to hear it.) and we can all own the full Dustin Kensrue collection, til date anyways. You can give him a little preview listen at Myspace and be sure to leave us and him feedback on what you think.
