Sigmoid sinus thrombosis is associated with phlebitis thrombosis of the sigmoid sinus phlebitis. Right styles. For common Otogenic intracranial complications. Sigmoid sinus thrombosis phlebitis, is due to the middle ear and mastoid suppurative disease, erosion sigmoid sinus bone plate, first formed around the sigmoid sinus abscess, and later produced wall sigmoid sinus thrombosis, thrombus into septic gradually growth, Finally sinus occlusion formed. If the bacteria invasive infection where septic thrombosis, the formation sigmoid sinus abscess; Infected embolic particles. With the blood flow can be disseminated to the body caused distant organ pyogenic lesions of sepsis and sepsis. Sigmoid sinus thrombophlebitis spread to the surrounding tissue, may cause subdural abscess, meningitis, and other cerebellar abscess. If the infection under control, thrombosis occurred plane, after angiogenesis, the sinus can minister. Sigmoid sinus thrombosis phlebitis is a typical example : the patie...

Absolute venous thrombosis risk moderately increased after air travel
2007-09-26 17:34:00
By Liam Davenport26 September 2007PLoS Med 2007; 4: e290MedWire News: The risk for symptomatic venous thrombosis is generally increased after air travel, although only modestly, with further rises in risk seen with increasing exposure to air travel and in high-risk groups, study findings suggest.Previous studies have indicated that, after air travel, the risk for venous thrombosis is increased between two- and four-fold. However, Suzanne Cannegieter, from Leiden University Medical Center, and colleagues point out that the absolute risk for venous thrombosis after air travel is unknown. The team therefore studied 8755 employees from large international companies and organizations between 2000 and 2005, correlating travel records provided by the employers with the occurrence of symptomatic venous thrombosis. The researchers considered a flight of at least 4 hours long haul, and that exposure continues for a postflight period of 8 weeks.Click here to see the rest of this article in MedW...

Why should patients with hypertension thrombosis?
2007-08-17 11:01:00
Q : I suffer from hypertension, doctors let me insist Aspirin, said that it is for antithrombotic treatment? Why must the use of aspirin for antithrombotic treatment? A : This is because the induced hypertension and increased atherosclerosis and can cause atherosclerosis plaque rupture, promoting thrombosis, thereby giving rise to the corresponding cardiovascular events, such as acute myocardial infarction, stroke and peripheral embolism? Therefore, in hypertension control, we can not simply consider only antihypertensive therapy, we should pay attention antithrombotic problems? Aspirin is currently in a global context hypertension recommended for the treatment of diseases, thrombosis drug of choice? Extensive clinical data confirm that low-dose aspirin (75mg / d) to reduce hypertension patients 15% of the serious incidence of cardiovascular events, lowering all myocardial infarction 35% of the risk and make the incidence of stroke decreased significantly. Therefore, if the doctor t...
Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT)
2007-07-10 05:00:00
DVT (aka VTE, venous thromboembolism) occurs when blood platelets stick together and form clots which either block local circulation or break away to lodge in other organs such as lungs (Embolism) brain (Stroke) or heart (Heart Attack). DVT is an issue among not only airline travelers, but potentially all those who sit immobile for extended periods of time (4 hours or more) according to WHO (World Health Organization). The use of birth control pills and those with blood abnormalities, such as a tendency for easy clotting, have also an increased risk.

THROMBOSIS OF A FUSIFORM INTRACRANIAL ANEURYSM INDUCED BY OVERLAPPING NEUROFORM STENTS: CASE REPORT.(Neurosurgery. 60(5):E950-E951, May 2007.Ansari, Sameer A. M.D., Ph.D.; Lassig, Jeffrey P. M.D.; Nicol, Ewen M.S., P.A-C.; Thompson, B. Gregory M.D.; Gemmete, Joseph J. M.D.; Gandhi, Dheeraj M.D. )This was a very intresting article in which the doctors were attempting to embolize this anuerism in the basilar artery. The were not able to do that but they put two Neuroform stents inplace. They found six weeks later after doing MRI and MRA's the pt. had developed a thrombis in the Anuerysm sac, and the vessel was very patent. A DSA Cerebral Arteriogram confirmed this at 12 months.CONCLUSION: Overlapping Neuroform stents may induce spontaneous thrombosis of intracranial aneurysms and facilitate parent artery reconstruction through flow remodeling and stent endothelialization. Double stent placement may be a viable option in dissecting or fusiform intracranial aneurysms that are not amena...

Yet Cheney's close calls on his recent global journey nagged at me--who knew where he'd be and when? Who

Treatments to cure Deep Vein Thrombosis a. Deep Vein Thrombosis is is treated with anticoagulants ( blood thinners ) such as heparin or warfarin, which melts the clots naturally. b. For larger clots the drug thrombolytics is used c. Exercise such as moving your legs often or walking goes a long way in preventing Deep Vein Thrombosis. Read
