Two Monday Night Tidbits
2010-12-16 19:32:00 The Bears are preparing to protest the playing of Monday night's game outdoors at TCF Bank Stadium because they believe the surface of the ground might actually be frozen. (This seems to me, in the concussion age, a valid argument.) The Vikings don't want to play in Indianapolis because they believe it will become a Bears home game (it would) and other options that are circulating now include moving the game to Atlanta - where ESPN will need to be next week anyway for the game between the Saints and Falcons next Monday night. My summary of all this. Maybe if you are going to build a stadium in an area that receives heavy snowfall, you might want to cover...
William and Kate: 10 Royal Tidbits You Probably Didn't Want to Know
2010-11-24 02:15:00 I was so excited to hear of Prince William and Kate Middleton's upcoming wedding--and until today, thought I knew all the details--Westminster Abbey--April 29, 2011--groom-to-be gave bride-to-be his mother's engagement ring--they met nine or ten years ago depending on what station you listen to--and they've broken up at least twice since officially hooking up. Today, Radar On-line posted some tidbits I did not know--I thought I'd share them with you--so we'll all be up to speed and on the same page.
Ryan and Gillick tidbits...
2010-10-27 22:50:00 Adam Rubin was my favorite beat writer during his time at the Daily News, before and after the Omar incident. I still feel he does a great job at ESPN NY but it has lost a little bit of the local flavor. I say this as a caveat to a compliment to Andy Martino, between my appeal for Rubin's style and Martino's former Mets bashing as a Philly writer, I was bias and slow to warm to him. I must say Martino is doing a very good job at the Daily News and has done an excellent job covering the Mets GM search. As he wrapped up his GM search reporting Martino has two more interesting tidbits that I hadn't heard before. Many Mets fans wanted former Twins GM Terry Ryan to become the next GM, I see the appeal but I wasn't as enthused with the idea. It took Ryan six years to start winning and many of his trades are still considered questionable. I had not heard that Ryan had been interested enough to at least look at our system. My pick would have been Pat Gillick b...

Some tidbits on Derrick Rose's off-season
2010-06-20 15:42:00 Per K.C. Johnson:Check out the whole article for details, but here's the4 most interesting tid bit perhaps: In a typical workout, Rose will put up 400 or so shots from around the floor, focusing on his three-pointer. The players work on ball handling, lateral movement, creating a shot off one or two dribbles, dribbling full court to a pull-up jumper and reading the ball screen....
Hoopsworld tidbits on 2010 FA
2010-05-20 13:56:00 Per Hoopsworld, Bosh is out, there's no front runner for LeBron, Wade is staying, and Joe Johnson won't get the max:Sources who spent time this month with Chris Bosh on the West Coast say Bosh has decided that he will not be returning to Toronto. That's not necessarily a shock, but the fact Bosh is not even willing to listen to Toronto's plan says volumes about where things ended in Toronto.Raptors' sources confirmed last week they doubted Bosh returned either. It seems both sides are at peace with the break up and are ready to move on. Sources close to his situation say there is no front runner team and in LeBron's mind all things are equal. While there are...

Boxing Tidbits and Gossip
2010-02-17 01:04:00 I might focus on MMA a lot because of the explicit title of this column, but truth is I love boxing. It is my first love - so-to-speak. It is a shame that it is not able to keep up with MMA right now and that its present seems more than decades from its past. I eagerly await a new superstar for the sport of boxing. I have always dreamed it would be someone in the light or feather weight divisions, but I know that is not realistic right now. But I would take even any heavyweight to re-kindle the love, spirit and fire the sport possessed for me since I was a kid watching the Greats: Felix Savon and...
Ticket Tidbits: Hinsdale outrage, Evanston cell phone ban, Springfield boot
2010-02-04 06:33:00 The Parking Ticket Geek offers up a potpourri of ticket and parking related news to keep you up informed and up to date. Hinsdale up in arms over MLK Day parking tickets. Some drivers who parked at downtown Hinsdale parking meters on Martin Luther King's birthday got an unpleasant surprise. 19 drivers erroneously assumed it was a meter holiday and didn't feed their meter, according to the Bolingbrook Reporter Newspaper. Oops! But some residents hit with the hefty $5 ticket (that's not a typo, seriously just $5) were irate. This includes John Eber who wrote an angry e-mail to the village. "Shame on the village for not recognizing MLK day..." said Eber. "Even more shame for the deceptive meter...
A bonanza of Bulls coaching search tidbits guest staring Doug Collins
2009-12-28 12:54:00 Per ESPN:The decision to fire head coach Vinny Del Negro has already been made, according to sources with knowledge of the Chicago Bulls' thinking. The fact that the Bulls' front office has not been able to settle on a replacement is the main thing keeping the embattled Del Negro employed, the sources said. There were discussions recently within the organization about having John Paxson, Chicago's executive vice president of basketball operations, take over the team, but Paxson ultimately decided against it. Then, according to sources, Chicago contacted former Bulls coach Doug Collins, a candidate for the job two years ago when Del Negro was hired, but Collins was not interested in coaching the club.''''''The Bulls would prefer not to promote an...
A Few Tidbits [J. Mark English]
2009-11-20 21:00:00 Recently someone suggested the idea that the new "Giants" Stadium should be called JetBlue Stadium. If, that is, both the Jets and the Giants plan on allowing a company to purchase the name of the stadium, would that not be a perfect name to cover both teams? Of course as someone pointed out to me, JetBlue may not be able to afford the lofty cost of buying the rights to the stadium. We shall see.Another fun bit of information that was tossed around the other day is that the New York Yankees have just as many wins in November as do the New York Jets, New York Giants, New York Knicks, New Jersey Nets, and the New York Rangers combined. That is pathetic. But I'm sure Yankee fans would prefer to have the championship instead of a few more wins from the local teams.http://img68.imageshack.u-s/my.php?image=amerlegendslogo5-wj.gif

Forgotten Tidbits From The Vigil
2008-03-26 11:03:00 One of my favourite aspects of the Easter Vigil involved the fire. Much to my horror, Happy Priest actually lit the Holy Hitachi (my name for it) in the church, just below the choir loft. This had the effect of sending up sparks and massive amounts of smoke into the choir loft. In the darkened church, the congregation could just barely make out the image of the choristers frantically fanning the

Tidbits from the ever-changing ICT world
2008-03-17 04:15:00 We all know that the research and development people in the information and communications technologies industry never go to sleep. That is why I receive a lot of press releases, announcements, invitations to product launches, etc. It's getting more and more difficult to find the time to sit in front of my computer and write about them* So, I think this week I'll give you a roundup of what's out there and what's coming.Notebooks on a dietNotebook computers are becoming lighter and thinner; makers seem to be vying against one another in a race to reduce the weight of their products by slimming down the bodies.Earlier this year, Steve Jobs introduced MacBook Air, a notebook that is less than two centimeters thick. It claims to be the world's thinnest notebook (for now) and it fits into an office envelop. Like other Mac computers, style is as strong as the technology. But, then, those who cannot seem to leave Windows and migrate to Mac, the good news came a bit later. Lenovo return...
