2007-09-28 04:43:00
Tim Hardaway is a new man. Just months ago, he appeared on Dan LeBatard’s radio show in Miami and declared to the world that he hated gays, and stated they had no place in the world. The backlash was massive, Hardaway was pounded (pause) by gay rights groups all around the nation, and removed ...

George Takei on Tim Hardaway Homosexual Comments (Video)
2007-03-04 00:22:02
“Star Trek” star George Takei, who recently came out as gay, made this video for Jimmy Kimmel commenting on former NBA star Tim Hardaway’s anti-gay comments: This has been going around for awhile, apparently, as my co-bloggers Alex Knapp and Chris Lawrence both had it on their personal sites some time back and Steven Taylor picked it up, too. Still, it’s pretty funny.
Tim Hardaway Hates Gay People
2007-02-16 06:24:01
Retired Miami Heat guard Tim Hardaway said Wednesday that he hates gay people. He was a guest on the Dan LeBatard radio show and when asked about John Amaechi, Hardaway had the following to say: “First of all, I wouldn’t want him on my team. And second of all, if he was on my team, I would, you know, really distance myself from him because, uh, I don’t think that’s right. And you know I don’t think he should be in the locker room while we’re in the locker room. I wouldn’t even be a part of that.” “You know, I hate gay people, so I let it be known. I don’t like gay people and I don’t like to be around gay people. I am homophobic. I don’t like it. It shouldn’t be in the world or in the United States.” And if your wondering what Amaechi has to say about Hardaway’s anti-gay comments, he tells The Miami Herald: “I’m actually tempted to laugh. Finally, someone who is honest. It is ridicu...
NBA Star Tim Hardaway Hates Gays - The Today Show Laughs
2007-02-16 05:51:01
I don’t know what’s more despicable, the fact that Tim Hardaway traveled THAT far across a line, or the fact that the news media made so light of it. As Gawker put it: Here’s an example of how an offhand remark can quickly escalate into something awkward?or worse. On this morning’s “Today Show,” Meredith Vieira and the kids were talking about Tim Hardaway, the former NBA player who isn’t super fond of the gays. One thing leads to another, and all of a sudden we’re talking about tire marks on Al Roker’s butt.
Tim Hardaway Is The A-Hole Of The Month, Not Just The Day

Former all-star basketball player Tim Hardaway when asked by CBS Channel 4 in Miami about a gay player being on his team:"First of all I wouldn't want him on my team," said Hardaway. "Second of all, if he was on my team I would really distance myself from him because I don't think that's right and I don't think he should be in the locker room when we're in the locker room."....."Well, you know, I hate gay people," Hardaway said in response to Le Batard. "I let it be known I don't like gay people. I don't like to be around gay people. I'm homophobic. It shouldn't be in the world, in the United States, I don't like it."It's really tragic that so many African American men are "on the down low" and remain in the closet because homosexualily is not generally accepted in the African American community AND you have assholes like this boasting that gay people "shouldn't be in the world."Hmmm... Imma leave my comments at that. It's called karma, I guess. But this is really sad.A...

2007-02-15 23:19:01
Hardaway made the comments while he was being interviewed by Dan Le Batard on 790 the Ticket Wednesday afternoon. The five time All Star was asked how he would deal with a gay teammate. "First of all I wouldn't want him on my team," said Hardaway. "Second of all, if he was on my team I would really distance myself from him because I don't think that's right and I don't think he should be in the locker room when we're in the lockerroom."Le Batard took Hardaway to task, pointing out that his comments were 'flatly homophobic' and bigoted, but that only seemed to stir up the former point guard."Well, you know, I hate gay people," Hardaway said in response to Le Batard. "I let it be known I don't like gay people. I don't like to be around gay people. I'm homophobic. It shouldn't be in the world, in the United States, I don't like it." (CBS)
Tim Hardaway: ?I Hate Gay People?
2007-02-15 22:48:02
As you all know by now, former NBA player John Amaechi has written a book titled “Man in the Middle” about his life as a closeted homosexual. In a recent radio interview on Dan LeBatard?s radio show in Miami, Tim Hardaway was asked his thoughts about gays in the NBA. Here is his response: Q: How do you deal with a gay teammate? A: First of all I wouldn?t want them on my team. And second of all, if he was on my team, you know, I would really distance myself from him because, uh, I don?t think that is right. I don?t think he should be in the locker room while we are in the locker room, and it?s just a whole lot of other things and I wouldn?t even be a part of that. But stuff like that is going on and there?s a lot of other people I hear that are like that and still in the closet and don?t want to come out of the closet, but you know I just leave that alone. Q: What could you do? Would you ask for a trade? A: Or I ask for him to get traded. Something has to give. And I ...
TIM HARDAWAY BASHES GAY PEOPLE Tim Hardaway, form...

TIM HARDAWAY BASHES GAY PEOPLETim Hardaway, former Heat player, tarnished his image by making crude and cruel comments about his feelings towards gay people. This blew my mind when I read about it because I have had a friendship with Tim when he was with the Pit Bulls in the ABA. A few years ago when I heard about Tim Hardaway starting an ABA team I quickly wrote him an email and was pleasantly surprised when I got a signed letter back from him. This letter invited me to a game and to be an honorary ballboy. Tim Hardaway gained my respect from more than what he did on the court, because he was nice enough to write to a kid and make me feel good. Now, however, I am sad and shocked that Tim would lash out at gay people. He made a terrible mistake and has apologized for it but it won't make up for what he said. He should have known better. I thought he was smarter than that. If you want to read what Tim said, go to www.ESPN.com.
Tim Hardaway Hates Gay People

And he isn’t afraid to let you know. The following audio is from The Dan LeBatard show, which always provides SporTech with entertainment. I literally had to rewind this 5 times to make sure it was the same Tim Hardaway I have grown to root for. His comments are shocking if only for the fact he has the balls to speak his mind. I’m sure there are plenty of others in and out of the NBA who agree with him wholeheartedly. Oh and when asked if Dwyane Wade was that gay player on his team what would he do, he lays down a classic line with the classic Timmy swagger… “I don’t even wanna go hypothetical like that!” This is likely to create a huge shit storm. Check the audio below and leave your opinions. Does this change your opinion of Tim Hardaway? Full interview is 8:25 long but the audio in question starts at 5:10.
