Publisher Little, Brown Books for Young Readers has also decided not to include it in a boxed set of all the Tintin books. There can be little doubt that the book has strong racist tendencies, but viewed as a document of its time (Hergé was Belgian and the Congo was a Belgian colony at the time of the original publication in 1931), it should still be made available to the public. This momentary lapse from the otherwise brilliant Hergé, should not stand in the way of a complete collection of his work. Tintin is the reasons I became a cartoonist, and I think it deserves the full treatment, despite the controversies concerning this particular installment.
