2008-03-11 03:11:00 I love this Tokina lens so far in the short time that I use it with my K100D. It actually replaces my Pentax DA 18-55 very much. Though it is not as wide and not as long as the Pentax kit's lens, I like its performance especially in the wider end. At wide open aperture, its sharpness beats the kit's lens. I got my copy under $100 bucks and it comes with a compatible lens hood from a great seller in eBay. I loved the lens so much that I I ordered the original Tokina lens hood from Amazon/Adoroma store. This is an AF lens from Tokina and it has a short focusing ring and AF seems to be fast in this lens and though it is all in plastic, it is very well constructed.
